Oohh... And this comes right after Nintendo announced the 24/7 thang for Wii... when you're not playing, just leave it on and it goes into standby where it downloads new features for your games. Sucks to the Brits! Glad I ain't one of 'em!

yeah, i think that people are just going to leave everything on all the time now, worsening the problem

we need (but don't want) more laws like this.

 

of course if each country seriously started actually using alternative methods of power generation (like windmills, water currents, sun panels...etc) then they could probably use whatever minimal energy is generated from those methods to cover that 8%

yeah but standby is such an essential thing, it does save power because otherwise we would have to have the wii on all the time to download stuff for example

 

i wish my 360 could download demos while i slept like that but i have to keep it on and its loud and actually heats up my room O_o (my TV and multiple Amps are probably most of it, but i noticed it gets significantly hotter ever since i got my 360)

And im proud to american, even tho reading that article just made me flip the switch behind my ps2 which is always on standby
