PS3 will be multi-region for games

Here's a question I don't think anyone has answered: will a standard non-chipped PS3 likely be able to play original PS1 and 2 games from any region?

That's a good question. I'd imagine if the box was set up to not bother with region-encoding, then it probably wouldn't check the region on old games? Wild guess though, obviously.
