Im looking for something with lots of space, and sounds good, works with windows, Dont care about picture viewing, dont care about watching movies on it, dont care about color screen, rechargable would be nice, but if not, uses AAs, Costs anywhere from about $135-250

cause they're overhyped and overly "trendy" ?

That doesn't make something less of beautiful piece of engineering. It's overhyped and trendy because it's simple, elegant, and most importantly easy to use. I care more about functionality than if something is overly trendy or overhyped. iPods have always delivered for me.

I wouldn't say they're VERY overpriced, just overpriced. If you are a college student you can get the 30 gb iPod video for $279 which is $10 more than the iRiver one and the same price as the Philips. They've always sounded fine to me but I'm no audiophile so I can't really tell the difference unless it's big. The only other iPod I had was a 2nd gen one and that has some major annoyances but I've heard they fixed all of them. What annoyances are you referring to? My Dad got me a 60 gb video today which was quite a surprise so maybe I'll put that on ebay and get a better video player one if there are legitmate annoyances.

I'm sorry but that's a really dumb reason to not like something.

If you plan on getting the iRiver, try getting it from Amazon since it's 30 bucks cheaper there. I saw it earlier today while searching for a new mp3 player.

enough said

You can get MUCH more in other players for nearly the same price, and the screen on the iPod video is tiny to say the least, And it plays like 2 formats, flock that, im not reencoding all my movies for my ipod, that would take forever

I dont care how fast your computer is, if your going to be putting 60GB worth of video anywhere its going to take awhile

and if you have the money, you can get these for 500-700 depending on where you look

No ipod will ever touch that

I'd rather get a PSP than that Archos thing to watch full length movies because it can double as a gaming device which might eventually get good games :P. I'm not into watching movies on the go. It's pretty neat though, I'm going to look into it some more later.

But those prices for that ipod you linked are flocking outrageous!! That 20 gb one is being sold for more than a 30 gb video straight from the Apple store! Whoever buys that deserves to get ripped off. The reviews for the Lyra are less than flatterring though.

But yeah, it sucks that the ipod video can only play 2 formats. I was hoping it would atleast play mpeg2 but unfortunately it doesn't. That pissed me off but I found a really neat program that converts videos pretty quickly. It converted a 300+ mb file within 10 minutes so I was very surprised. Infact, it's converted a bunch of files right now in the background. I hate watching movies on handhelds (I got a mobile DVD player as a gift once and returned it 2 weeks later because it was such a crappy experience) and am just going to use mine to watch science lessons while I'm waiting in between class so I don't have to worry about movies.

Outragous prices, your better off going to buy these items at the local comp shop. Where you can also get rebates if their on sale. Saved me 150 bucks when I got my ipod.
