The lack of characters seems to be uninteresting. Hopefully, the console version will see additional characters in it ala SFIV.
I doubt it unless you're prepared to wait YEARS for the console release.
This is an observation made on the site in the opening post up there:
Also, do not be surprised if there are no hidden characters at all and that these 20 characters are the ENTIRE list of playable characters, as SNK is keeping things small and simple this time, focusing on quality instead of quantity. This is understandable since redrawing one character by hand is taking them more than a year.Everything is HAND DRAWN so it takes MUCH MORE TIME than the characters from SFIV since those are simply 3D polygons.

I never understood the appeal to these machines. Then again I've never used one, so I'll hold on that statement for now. Once you've played one you get hooked right?
There is even a promotional movie for the Biohazard Pachinko machine here:
Oh, and in case you missed it; here is an article describing that particular pachinko machine's appeal:
Resident Evil Pachinko Shows More Than Jill Sandwiches
Now are you hooked?

Thanks for the information.I like the classic 3 on 3, but what's up with that red flash when they hit each other.
That sounds like the critical counter system at work to me.
-
I'm not too clear on the new mechanics.I can't read the Japanese page too well.Is the Critical Counter a kind of parry.
It CAN be called a parry but I wouldn't call it that because unlike Third Strike's parrying system which MAY give the one parrying an advantage; the critical counter system guarantees an advantage for the one doing the critical counter because it not just stops the attack but it also STUNS the receiving character leaving him/her open for a critical counter combo.

I think Wikipedia mentioned something about this:
KOF XII does not feature any of the pre-defined teams traditionally featured in the series, despite presence of members from recurring teams such as the original Japan Team and the Fatal Fury Team -
Do you mean the dc_flash.bin file?
-
First the cast of characters in KoF XII:
- Andy Bogard
- Ash Crimson
- Athena Asamiya
- Benimaru Nikaido
- Clark Steel
- Chin Gentsai
- DuoLon
- Goro Daimon
- Iori Yagami
- Joe Higashi
- Kim Kaphwan
- Kyo Kusanagi
- Leona Heidern
- Raiden
- Ralf Jones
- Robert Garcia
- Ryo Sakazaki
- Shen Woo
- Sie Kensou
- Terry Bogard
There will be three new gameplay features in the system:
Critical Counter, Double Crush and Guard Attack.
KoF Online does the best job of explaining it so here is the link to the Critical Counter feature:
The other two are explained briefly in the main page:
KOF XII’s Official Website & New Gameplay Systems
There you have it! New gameplay features and a small number of characters for a KoF game. What do you think?

Holy smokes, that looks amazing. How many people are in this iteration?Maybe with less people they'll focus on balancing the game.It doesn't look like they added anything gameplay wise
There will be twenty in the final arcade release tentatively scheduled for April according to Gamespot. They even did a nice detailed interview for Gamespot back in September. Here it is in case you missed it:
SNK's long-overdue revamp of flagship brawler set to arrive in Japanese arcades in April of 2009
Here is video footage that includes the character selection screen in the opening minute and as always you can click on it to view it in full screen (high quality available):

I have mapped my keys but after setting the correct date and time; I can't exit the screen and continue! I've tried pressing all of the buttons including Start when I have Select highlighted but it won't exit the screen and go further!
How do I get past the set time and date screen in NullDC?
-
The funny thing is that I took a second look at MagicIso and I discovered the Make CD image option; it allows converting files to .nrg files!
I converted it successfully and I can get NullDC to successfully boot up the image but now it won't let me get past the set date and time step...but that is another problem probably better suited for a new topic. I will check back here if you have answers for this new problem though.
Thanks!

I think mine is the OEM version of Nero 6.
Woah! I thought my old Nero 7 was old! The scary part is that I just replaced my old Nero 7 to Nero 8 so there are probably even more differences between our respective Nero software.
There is so much software bundled into Nero now that I get lost just looking in the Nero 8 folder: NeroBackItUp, Nero Burning ROM, Nero CoverDesigner, Nero Express, Nero Home, Nero MediaHome, Nero PhotoSnap, Nero PhotoSnap Viewer, Nero Recode, Nero ShowTime, Nero SoundTrax, Nero StartSmart, Nero Vision, and Nero WaveEditor.
Which piece of Nero software do you use to get to your "Image Recorder?"

I just hope KoF XII doesn't let me down.
I think KoFXII has already let some people down by featuring the fewest number of fighters in any KoF game. The new sprites do look better in high resolution than the old ones; you can see them in action in this location test footage (HD footage available!):
What do you expect from KoF XII?

Japan actually prefers VF over Tekken,Tekken 6 is just new right now.Tekken is not deep enough to take seriously.
Oh, really? What source are you basing that conclusion on? Virtua Fighter hasn't been more popular than Tekken since the disaster that was Tekken 4. Virtua Fighter 4 and Evolution proved to be more popular than Tekken 4 because players largely hated how hard it was to launch and the uneven stages. The fact that Sega introduced the customization feature in Evolution also gave their game even more replay value too.
Tekken 5.0 and the subsequent Tekken games simply crushed Virtua Fighter because it went back to what made it so popular in Tekken 3 and it introduced its own customization features too. Virtua Fighter's extremely demanding learning curve is what limits its popularity even among the Japanese population. This is why even Banpresto's Gundam vs. Gundam is listed as being more popular than VF5R in December.

I don't know what settings you use, but my Nero lets me just make the disc image file from the source drive by using its "Image Recorder" drive as the destination. Not forced burning after the creation of the disc image is complete.
---> One .NRG Nero image ready for use.
Which version of Nero do you use?
-
Well, as a last resort, you could mount the IMG (or the CUE, if the game has additional tracks/data that needs to be specified) to a virtual drive and rip the game into an NRG image through that.
Unless that is, you want to hunt down another converter and cross your fingers.
I have written it into a temporary .nrg file on my desktop during the copying process in Nero but then it disappears as soon as I abort the process when it asks me to insert a blank DVD to complete the copying process. Would this mean I would need to burn it to a DVD?

Long live XP!. As long as it does what I need I don't plan to switch.
Windows 7 appears to be far superior to XP as even those who were most critical of Vista are lauding the stability and speed of Windows 7 Beta.
-
It's because tekken isn't a fighting game, street fighter is o.0.
Did I just read this correctly? When was Tekken not considered a fighting game?
-
The first entry in the Conversion menu should be a general one. Try that.
No, that would be the .bin conversion. There is the Universal Converter option but when I select the .img file with that option; it just says "Selected file is not a valid ISO." What do I do now?
-
Okay, I just got ISOPEN but when I click on the .img file and click on .img conversion; nothing happens! What do I need to do in ISOPEN to convert it to CDI, MDS, NRG, or GDI images?
-
Why would you think that? Tekken games have been the most popular arcade games in Japan now for over four years!
-
Woah! I forget about Amusement Journal for a while and I miss a month's charts! No one here will be surprised by what is on top of the first chart!
Anyway; here is December's most popular arcade games in Japan starting with the games in the non-dedicated cabinets:
1. Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion
Bandai Namco
2. Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs. Gundam
Banpresto
3. Virtua Fighter 5 R
Sega
4. Blazblue
Arc System Works/AMJ
5. Street Fighter IV
Capcom
Next come the most popular arcade games in Japan in dedicated cabinets:
1. Mahjong Fight Club 7
Konami
2. Sangokushi Taisen 3
Sega
3. Mobile Suit Gundam:Bonds of the Battlefield [Ver. B]
Banpresto
4. WORLD CLUB Champion Football
2006-2007
Sega
5. Taiko no Tatsujin 12
Bandai Namco
What do you think of this latest list?
-
Thanks! I'll definitely use it to convert the files then.
-
I swear, every ATi card I have owned or do own, the fans die on them REALLY fast.
Yep, that sounds about right for that company. The one and only ATI card I ever had ran hot too; it was an old X300. The only way I could defend it was the fact that old computer also had a weak power supply running the only fan cooling the entire system. It ended up frying the hard drive.

Yes, I'm having problems running a DreamCast image that is in .img in NullDC because NullDC only accepts .cdi files. How would I convert an .img file to .cdi?
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Posted
I thought it was awesome! I love the inside joke they put in that new trailer with Ganryu's restaurant Chankho Paradise ad.
Tekken Tag 2 wasn't a complete surprise to everyone though; it seems that Namco is staying true to releasing a new Tag Tournament game every 3 Tekken games.
