I used this to mod my PSP.
After much procrastination my PSP is now on 5.0m33. What are the best emulators for NES, SNES, CPS2, and MAME?
Also, can you take your existing PS1 discs and make ISOs out of them?

Would anyone mind making an idiot/newbie's guide to modding a brand new PSP Slim?
Also, I tried ripping a DVD with DVDfab 5 but the end video was pillarboxed. What resolution does it have to be to native to the display? I left all the settings on the default for PSP.

Picked one up today. It's the PSP-2001, the firmware already on it was 3.95.

Modded PSP is the way to go. I can't think of what to do with an unmodded PSP as i have my Neo-Geo, CPS2 and SCUVMM emulators running most of the times.
I'm just concerned with this whole battery trick and how much extra this will cost.

I'm finally getting one today, I've had gift cards just collecting dust. I managed to get an 8GB SanDisk II yesterday from Amazon for $60.
If you modify the firmware does it effect any of the PSP features (like online play or remote play)? Will they ban you from online like Live?

I haven't messed with emus too much on the xbox. So far I have mameox, XSNESX, and Neogenesis. These are a few years old.
Is there anything better or are these good enough?
If anyone knows too, what plugin for xbmc is this person using at exactly 2mins on this video:

Should I buy a Pandora battery off ebay or try to create one?

I'm thinking of getting a new PSP (slim). I have a DS with a card but the emulation isn't there just yet.
Black Knight gave a few of us these instructions:
1) Download the Pandora Battery tool- you need the hacked PSP to make this battery.2) Download the Universal Unbricker and put the stuff on the memory stick. Then run the application on the hacked PSP.
3) Put the memory stick with the Universal Unbricker stuff and the Pandora Battery into your new Slim PSP while turned off.
4) Turn it on, and follow the prompts.
Once you've made the stuff with a hacked PSP you can use it to downgrade and PSP, any firmware. You can find the links yourself- do a search. From this point on everyone needs to get back on topic. Ask downgrading questions in their own thread please.
I was wondering if someone who's done this process can go into a little further detail (not links) about the process. For instance, what is the Pandora tool and what does it do?

Pandora's Battery is a special battery that boots the PSP into service mode which, when paired with a Magic Memory Stick, allows the user to downgrade their PSP, regardless of their current firmware. Any regular battery can be made into a Pandora's Battery, as long as someone you know has a PSP with either fw 1.50 or a custom firmware.
I modded someone's fat PSP a while back, not sure what firmware they are on now. How can I find instructions on how to mod a new Slim using a modded fat?

It would be nice if someone that has good knowledge of the PSP and emulation would post on what is required, and step by step instructions on what version of PSP what firmware, so on....

It is biased the other way, but still comes out admitting the PSP is on top.
I wonder how these two stack up now since both have released new versions of their handhelds.

I didn't know there were R4 dealers in the US, had I known that I wouldn't have bought from DX in Hong Kong... oh well. As for SNES emulators, you might want to try SNESDS as well.
I noticed something odd when using my DS. The health warning screen instead of the normal tone, now has a higher pitched one. I don't when or how that changed.

Well it turns out the order I thought I canceled with Gameyeeeah wasn't so I'll be getting the R4 sometime late next week.
Finally got the R4 today. What are the best emulators for SNES, NES, Genesis, etc that work well on the R4?

Put it this way- the M3DS Real has EVERYTHING the R4DS has, plus;
-SDHC support
-Inbuilt emulators
-Cheats
-Realtime saving
..and comes with its own GBA / Memory Slot-2 solution.
According to GBAtemp, the CycloDS is rated better than the M3DS.

Theres been zero announcements from the R4 team regarding any new version or SDHC support, and from other reports the R4 manufacturing plant has been shut down (However restarted elsewhere).
That site you linked to is obviously bogus, and is an identical clone of the real R4 site save for the fact it uses ASP where the real site, does not.
I'd bet on that obvious clone, not supporting SDHC. But it could. You're still getting an inferior clone that will probably have issues. Then again, you may not. Just cause it's a clone, doesn't mean it WILL suck.
I can't say here.......you could wind up worse or better off.
Ok well I have decided to refuse shipment when it comes in, and will return it. I don't want a knock off. How about just ditching the R4 and going with a CycloDS from divineo?
That's probably a good idea. I've heard the CycloDS is better than the R4, anyway.

SCAM. Theres no need to use FAT32 unless you are indeed using an SDHC card larger than 4GB (Infact it's slower than FAT). Not to mention "Encrypted" Firmware you MUST install from the CD?
The firmware is nothing more than a zip/rar you unpack onto the microsd card, and you shouldn't bother using the firmware on the CD it's outdated.
Sounds like a clone to me.

I have not upgraded my PSP since m33-6. I bought a PS1 game so I could put it on my PSP, but I get an error that I need to have firmware v5.5 or later. Did Dark Alex stop development of CFW?
