  1. WOW! It was almost a year ago when I started this topic! WOOT, the third installment of this great series is about to get released in 2 days!

When the JAP version was released, I played 5 hours of it until I found it that XSEED was planning to bring it to America. Now the day has arrived more more RPG gaming goodness and Im excited. Although this game will obviously not be as good as #2, I am still expecting great fun.

  2. Game: Final Fight: Streetwise

    System: Playstation 2

    Emulators: N/A

I think we all have a softspot for the Final Fight series deep inside our hearts. Back in the good old days, Final Fight was one of the popular "beat em up" games that made our thumbs sore with gangsta bashing fun. Produced by Capcom, players began their quest by selecting three playable characters (Mike, Cody, Guy) and then set off to battle waves upon waves of enemies in the same style as Streets of Rage and Double Dragon. Finally making its debut on the current generations systems, FF: Streetwise wants to capture the same nostalgic feelings we once had for the 16 bit classics.

In Streetwise, you take the role of Kyle Travers, little brother of Cody. The game begins with you in a fight club where your brother is coaching you in a brawl. Not too long into the game, Cody gets kidnapped by a group of thugs and then you are set out to find him by any means necessary. Your mission will take you into the exotic places of the gritty underground including hotels, porn theaters and pawn shops.

    Controls

The controls in Streetwise will take you only a few minutes to learn. The basic setup is Square is used for Strong Attacks, "X" is for quick attacks, "O" for grapples and Triangle can be used for context sensitive situations. I was pleasantly surprised on how solid the controls were. Targeting enemies is simple with little chance of making mistakes on who you want to attack. When fighting multiple enemies, pressing the left joystick with any attack button will make your life a breeze in taking out a gang of thugs. Pressing the L1 button puts your character in Guard Mode, and if you precisely press it just before getting hit, you can perform a crushing counter. Holding L2 will make Kyle perform more aggressive attacks at the cost of the aggression meter. The only complaint is that controlling the camera can be difficult because there isn't enough angles at your disposal, and it can feel a bit claustropobic at times, sometimes disorienting.

    Gameplay

The gameplay found in Streetwise is a mix bag. For the most part, you engage in fighting enemies whether it be against a gang on the streets or members of the mafia that have your brother. The game is "open ended" which means you are free to roam around the city streets, purchase upgrades for your character, buy items, or get newer songs for your listening pleasure. While traversing you will find mini quests for you to complete, most of them are optional but some will are necessary to go further. There are also some puzzle elements such as a "minesweeper" type puzzle that you need to solve to access restricted areas. There are weapons at your disposal that enhance the combat experience. Knifes, baseball bats, 2x4's are some of the melee weapons that can take out your opponents rather quickly. Guns are a new one for the series. Eventually you'll come upon SMG's, shotguns and pistols that do massive damage. Overall, the game is really fun for those of us who don't like to think that much while playing. Streetwise has a really arcade feel and is perfect for a quick round of fun. The game isn't really challenging though, and ends pretty quickly.

    Graphics

Amazing world environments and character models. If that's what your looking for, Streetwise isn't for you. It's not to say the game is terrible looking, but it seems really like a first generation PS2 graphics. The world environments is modelled average at best. Everything feels a bit close and when you get to long corridors and allyways, the draw distance apparently shows its weakness. The character models are low polygon for the most part, but during cutscenes facial expressions add a level of cool to the game. In the graphics department, it does its job but does nothing to astound or amaze you.

    Sound

After reading a number of reviews from other websites, there were many complaints about the voice overs in the game. I actually thought the characters had suitable voice actors and gave a pretty good performance. I guess the major problem is the script that they had to read. The dialogue is full of profanities, so if that is something that gets on your nerves your in some trouble. I didn't mind at all but there was a lot of unnecessary cursing. The soundtrack is full of hip hop and rap music. Personally, it was OK for me but those of you who aren't into that kind of music will be turned off. Sounds effects from weapons are sub par, and there isn't anything particular that will impress you.

    Final Comments:

I was deeply depressed on the atrocious scores that this game got. It isn't terrible at all! Giving this game a lower score than BeatDown is just wrong. Although I wouldn't recommend buying this game, I truely believe it deserves to be played. Do yourself a favour and rent the game, or borrow it from someone. Personally, I had more fun with this title than Beatdown, Urban Reign and The Warriors put together. It's really for the simple folk who just like to oldskool fun without all the glitz and glamour.

  3. I think it does have something to do with the filename being too long. I redownloaded the song and then I tried to move that the new file but it gave me a warning saying that it couldn't be done because of the length of the file name. Damn Mozart and his gajillion character symphonies.

  4. Thanks for replying guys. But my problem was a bit weirder than that. I am used to the windows error thingy, most of the time I just right click and refresh and everything works. But my error nothing appears, it just doesn't accept any command. I got rid of it by deleting the folder itself and there doesn't seem to be anymore problems with that. I just started getting paranoid about viruses and such.

  5. Okay, so I downloaded an album off bittorrent. Theres one file that doesn't work. I try to delete/rename/move or anything else for that matter but it just sits there and does nothing! How do I get rid of this demon file!

    UPDATE:

Okay, I just deleted the folder that the file was in. It seemed to do the trick. But can someone explain to me why the file was acting that way?

  6. I'd personally rate the movie a 7/10.

After waiting so long, building the hype within myself brick by brick, it just didn't satisfy after finally watching it. Actually, it took several days for me to watch the whole thing since the plot itself failed to keep me entertained all the way. Most of the 7 out of 10 goes to the visuals and audio.

  7. New revelation!

I knew it! My files are still on my HD intact. Since I didn't do a complete reformat only my program registrys got reset. I know where the files are but I can't get access to them.

It's in C:/USERDATA but it won't let me in giving me a error saying "access denied"

    Any help?

EDIT: NEVERMIND! I haxxored it and now I'm backkkkk!!

    YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  8. Well, it all started when my fan started running at high speed during high cpu intake. Then I contacted my PC manufacturer and then told me to update the BIOS. After that I couldn't even run DVDShrink, WINRAR or RPGMaker for over 10 minutes without the fan revving up. I decided to see if I could restore my default bios by using the computer's system recovery program but unfortunately, I didn't realize that system recover meant hard drive reformat. Now I have two owwies. After the system recovery I lost my program settings but the programs I install prior to the recovery are still there. Also I still have the same amount of space as before. I thought that I could still be able to recover my data so I contacted HP again and they told me it was unaccessible but the data is still physically present since I didn't do a complete hard drive format.

So, does anyone know how I would be able to retrieve this missing stuff?

    Sexually yours, NeoMaster.

  9. Ahhh..so many acronyms..head hurting.

Well, let's start off with the basics.

Im going to get a xbox.

Then have it chipped (recommendations on which ones are good please?)

Then have it flashed and hope nothing xplodes.

  10. That's super cool.

But I don't really need to install a dash and those other programs do I? That's for the more super savvy xbox owners. Most of the games I'll play will be from burnt discs so I won't need the hard drive upgrade. Correct?

  11. Hello friends. I have a PS2 and Gamecube but for some very odd reason never picked up a XboX. There are quite a few games that are simply too irresistable to pass up and I plan to get a modded xbox soon.

But before I do, I am just wonder, is the xbox backup friendly as the PS2?

Like, I consider PS2 to be wonders if you have the chip. Just plop a disc into your drive, copy or write from an image and then you can play it on your system.

Is the Xbox like that with all chips?

My friend had a modded xbox but he couldn't play backup games until he "flashed" it or some crap.

    Well, toodle ooo.

  12. I've had some games that have multiple tracks ie. Track 1 Data and the rest audio tracks.

In my case, some of them don't work at all (meaning won't boot) and there are others that work fantastic.

The only occurence where the music failed to play that I can remember was playing ff5 where the music and some sfx were missing.

But I don't know where it was the iso i downloaded or something else.

I use a mod chip by the way.

  13. Ok, here's the deal.

I just got a.avi movie and I want to burn it on a dvd and watch it on the dvd player.

It's made with XviD and junk so can anyone tell me some instructions to encode and what not.

    have you checked http://www.doom9.org ?

I forgot to update everyone on my situation. I took a look around doom9 and it seems that it's verrry complicated in my opinion to get a avi on a dvd. I tried their methods, downloaded extra stuff needed, wasted 3 hours each attempt to burn and its just downright nutty.

If you are in my situation, I recommend just using dvdsanta, the only way of proceding without losing braincells.

It's extremely easy to use and takes half the time than the other programs mentioned at doom9.

  14. After seeing all these dats...i've my e-wang is growing smaller and smaller. My once large pride of having all/most neogeo roms is going down the drain.

Basically, I have a simple question.

Are all these different sets really different? I mean, with all these different versions it seems that people are getting a little overboard pulling these sets out of their @$$e$.

So basically...can I feel safe having a working mslug5n.zip while there are other million versions out there like mslug5, mslug5nd, and so forth and whatever.

I really wanted to collect as much as I can but this seems a bit too ridiculous.

And with this all versions that are decrypted, encrypted, prescripted, p's. c's and such, they are basically the same right but screwed around differently?
