  1. Hard Corps: Uprising / 360 Arcade Marketplace

I remember someone made sure I heard about this game a while back... maybe Fumanchu.

It is everything you would expect a Contra game to be. Typically one starts in Uprising mode in which you collect Cr. to purchase enhancements, such as when you grab a super machine gun, it starts at lvl 2, or an upgrade on your lives or special skills like evades etc. In rising mode you can start at any stage... this is how you practice.

Once your familiar with the stages layouts and boss strategies, your ready for arcade mode. Basically its just a character with preset abilities. Nice and challenging. There are only 8 stages but each stage offers a different type of gameplay. Even up to the boss strategies themselves. There are points where the game feels like a shooter... like Gradius type shooters.

There are a total of 4 characters but Konami made 2 of them DLC. Fuuuuck games that are released... in which you must make further purchases to make it complete. Shady, seedy business practice there. This knocked Konami down a peg for me.

The game is fun, and a blast with a friend. If you like Contra, you would appreciate this game at some level.

  2. The stomp was great but I miss that power slap and the anti air leap he has in alpha and others. I can forgo the anti air but the slap is very missed. The 360 K grab at a distance is pretty tricky too, cover ground real quick.

Darun plays so well in this game, and he got the yang of anti air... with that mid air catch. I totally wished it was him in SSFIV.

  3. Its already been covered but my 2 cents

Im on a mac right now... And my mom got a mac last year. These things are terrific for casual use, work applications (most), Art stuff, your Mom or non gaming girlfriend! Not having to mess with virus bullshit and PC slowdown is awesome.

But realistically... not so great for our requirements.

    Like this?

You ask about possible revisions... well if it was an official revision, you should be able to find it. But I see no mention of it anywhere.

Here's something more informative than anything I have found so far.

    Vs. Excitebike

Excitebike was enhanced in two different versions, both titled Vs. Excitebike.

The first version was released for arcades in 1984, some time after the Famicom release. The game was based around the VS. Unisystem unit. It is similar to its NES counterpart, though this version has the Design option gone and in the main game there are three difficulty levels (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced), and the levels are arranged in a different setup: there are seven tracks that must be played twice, the first time as a challenge race, and the second time as an Excitebike race. Whereas the challenge race has no CPU bikers as obstacles, in the Excitebike race mode they appear. Also the position qualify will rise to the 5th place, which means the player must clear the track in that position or higher to advance.

The second was released for the Famicom Disk System peripheral in 1988. While the graphics and core gameplay are still the same, there are several differences between this version, and both the original and its arcade namesake:

The game features a versus mode known as "Vs. Excite", in which two players compete for winning. The options include maximum number for rounds for deciding a winner, the track in which the players will race on, and the number of laps for said track.

The music is completely different and none of the sound tracks from the original game is present in this version.

The "Original Excite" mode is based actually on the main mode of the arcade version.

Its rewritable disk format also allows the player to save created tracks.

    Source: Answers.com (huh... go figure)

So yea, I miss-quoted earlier... 88 was the famicom, release of the arcade unit was 84 (Japan)...

  5. I appreciate you looking into that! I've had SOOO many things to juggle, I didnt check on that.

Its sucks. I have ALWAYS played the shit out of well... everything. I can have a blast right now, firing up some old school stuff and just play. I imagine when emulation was real hot... I dont know... anytime before Jul 16 2007 (most users online for 1Emulation) but more specificially, around 02 - 04. I was fresh into emulation, but I didnt get into the endless facets and bulk as I am now... I missed the time altogether!

Now no one cares about the old shit. At least anymore.

Im a man out of time.

  6. It's also possible that it is a bootleg of the sharp x1 or NEC PC-8801 system versions. I haven't been able to find screenshots of it.

I had the same thought. When I Wikied this, I saw that the 8801 was a floppy based contraption so I didnt even look it up... but here ya go,

EDIT: Just google " Strange and Wonderful NEC PC-8801 Games " itll be the link at the top... about 3/4 down you'll see excite bike pics for the 88. Id link but it looks like they might have rom files or something.

    or

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------->|<--- Right about here

As you can see it was actually a downgrade. I doubt they buffed a bootleg to be as cool as he describes.

As for the X1... LINK: I dont know if any of the pics there are from X1... but it look like 3 separate platforms, all equal to or worse in terms of the original.

  7. I gave up on getting cheats to work on this thing... I feel like Im missing something... but I have tried everything. How are you going to have an enable cheat box... an f key that toggles cheats... but not work. I fired up a couple of other games after looking at certain cheats, but I was right, cheats are not enabling.

    Thanks though.

  8. Well I appreciate it.

I had the cheat file there, said to keep zipped but I made a duplicate that was unzipped. Cheats have been enabled on the menu since I got this version. F6 toggles cheat on/off (which doesnt work) & there is no cheat menu under tab?

The code you gave, Agozer, Which looks the same as the codes I found elsewhere, do not resemble anything in the XML files ... at least to my eyes.

Bah... I should be able to read matrix code my now!!!

  9. Hell if I can say for sure Weirdy, but the only codes in test mode that I have seen were literally 1 button (HP) or (MK), and as Agozer said, only in EX games that are not Plus versions. All material I have found is mainly for PS and PS2 bullshit, I havent found any solid material about the Arcade versions of EX2.

Everyone in this game is a badass. Thought id just say that...

  10. Mame OS X

    Mac mame...

Edit: couldnt get the cheat files to work on that either. Kept saying unzip files and place them in the mame directory. I also tried to input the cheats manually but it didnt open up when I hit said selection. Fuck this... Ill wait till someone actually helps me with this... so I can actually play something rather than waste even more time...

Heres to hoping someone fills my simple request...

  11. Id love to go, always wanted to.

Arent you almost 6' / 1.8M tall? Were you like... the tallest Asian around?! lol I can imagine how it looks... but only through pics... and G-Map street view. LOL It sounds strange, I know... But I am used to basic American life. What I see on Gmap alone captivates me. Absolutely different than what Im used to. Ida wondered the streets of Japan and got lost... and not care.

Damn man, you get to go all over! China, Japan... hey... have them send you to the US... I got some of places to show you!

But yea... hope you had an amazing time!

  12. Hooooly shit I got Waaaay more than I thought I should. I used this tax svc and they scour your region for perks... I got 250 extra $$$ and I dont even remember why... nice.

Um, Its just going in the war chest. The only things I really want are 3DS and Deus Ex 3... and since DE3 was pushed...
