Reading my old blog posts reminds me of how my mindset was back then. Fogged by negativity and unable to appreciate or see the positive aspect in anything, I appeared as if the world was about to crash land in my face. Instead, I should have realized I was in a very unique time period for 1Emulation. What can I say? Negativity: it's like a cancer, it rips through your mind, and makes everything seem worthless. Let's just say my perspective has changed greatly since 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, etc. And indeed, the years have moved fast since the time I started 1Emulation as EmulForums in 2002.

It's very fascinating to see how many people still visit 1Emulation on a daily basis, including our returning and veteran members. We've sustained ourselves through the toughest of challenges --- hackings, crashes, server mayhem, etc. We could have always pulled the plug, but I refused to do so. Call it persistence or call it a love, this place has always been my Internet sanctuary (fuck the rise of social networks! ).

I guess my greatest goal for 1Emulation is to see it blazing in activity again, but this will take a lot of patience. We've got all the tools in our disposal -- a community hungry for change, an amazing website backend, and a fabulous staff.

Anyway, I felt like writing something after years of not posting on my blog. Cheers!

So I was trying desperately to keep my mental self in harmony during this long 3 week upgrade process. I found a new band via the greatest site on the net, you know it, YouTube!

Anyway, here are three songs from The Creatures, and these are actually the only three songs I was able to find from the group. They're straight from the greatest music era the world has ever known, that's right, it's called 80's Italo Disco. I would be delighted if anyone could inform me more about the band and any other songs they played.

Sure, the lead singer's dancing is a bit like Pete Burns (lead singer of Dead or Alive) drinking Diet Pepsi, but I still find them quite entertaining to watch. I especially like their Star War's type character they use in their videos.

Tell me what you think. I probably listened to these songs a hundred times to keep me inspired during this stressful upgrade process.

It may not be Metallica, but the sounds they use are quite unique for its time. Enjoy!

I've been asking this question almost everyday to myself when it comes to 1Emulation. So when am I ready to give up on this place? Should I ever give up? One thing is for sure, I don't want this site to turn into another Zophar or website with cobwebs all over the place. It's frustrating as a site admin to browse other websites that are just doing far better than you are. I guess that can be phrased "jealousy", but I really want to give this place one last boost. I don't know what I'll do if I can't get this place off its feet so it can start running laps by itself. It's almost as if there is a cancer in 1Emulation that is just eating it up while sucking all its life away.

Many of you are probably asking yourselves why I just don't appreciate what I have?
I do, very much so. But my dreams are far larger than this place will ever become.

Picture a guy banging his monitor to the wall a few times and pounding his fist on the desk.
Do you see anger or frustration? Add them up!

    :: How would you boost 1Emulation's forum/site activity? ::

Either way, expect some serious changes to 1Emulation. I'm feeling like an evil scientist ready to "bust a rhyme".

It's been over 5 months since the last time I posted in my blog. My life has been busier than ever lately and spare time for 1Emulation has been dwindling. Over the years we have tried countless times to boost 1Emulation activity by bringing in interest creating devices. Some ideas worked wonderfuly, others failed instantaneously. Over the course of the next few weeks and months, I still will have barely any time to put forth into 1Emulation. What we need are people to create topics that interest others to promote discussion. Unfortunately must users on this site have gave up on creating new threads (topics). There are many who only reply to posts and only make a single thread once a year. The point is, we all must work together to keep this place alive. If you sit there and refresh the screeen, nothing will happen until YOU act.

Second, I want to give a big thanks to both Mooney and Robert. They are the real dynamic duo who have kept 1Emulation news up to date as much as possible. If it wasn't for them, I guarentee 1Emulation would have stopped dead last year.

The way I see it, there are only a few strings left that are keeping us off the floor.

To add a few more strings before the others snap, I have designed a small list of plans for the beginning of 2007.

    - Review X-Arcade Tankstick
    - Review R4DS Flashcart for the Nintendo DS
    - Spring Radio Show
    - Revive IRC Channel (#1emu @ EFNET) .. Yes, I haven't gave up on this task yet.

I also want to mention that I have seen several veteran 1Emulation members posting on other emulation sites. Many already have triple or four digit post counts which have shown they are already found new sites to reside in. Personally, I don't care what anyone does outside of 1Emulation. I just want everyone to know that this site is not dead yet.

    Show some passion, not compassion.

It's been a tough couple weeks as of late and I've been thinking more and more about this very website. What we've accomplished and what we've endured have all been experiences for all of us. Some cherished, some to be forgotten.

I truly am going out of ideas for 1Emulation. I don't know what to do, nor do I ever think it will be how I imagine it. It's hard to know if you're wasting your time or if it really is a hobby in itself. Sometimes it feels that I work harder on 1Emulation than my own real life job. Happiness has been pretty much a non-existant factor for myself these past 10 years or so. It comes and goes (not that I am clinically depressed), but I'id rather be angry than happy now. I've learned a lot, but I don't believe I'm the correct owner for this website. There's a lot of lost time these 4 and a half years, including a lot of page refreshes, and many good things that have happened.

However, my life is missing something far greater in which this website has taken from me. I can't go back in time to retrieve it, but I can change the future.

To conclude, I believe life without 1Emulation would be the right choice for me right now. However it happens, I'm not sure. It probably won't be sold, nor will it be given. There is only one last option.

It get's a bit stressful when you see websites that after a year are superstars. They are filled with thousands of users online and every second. It's been 4 years and more now that I've had the pleasure being the owner of 1Emulation. My final goal for this site is for 1Emulation to be one day as exactly as I have described. I can't imagine how many hours of hard mind power I've put into 1Emulation. Many stressful days that could make you laugh or even punch a hole in the wall.

I was discussing how 1Emulation could possibly expand in the future with Gryph today. Maybe change the name perhaps? Right now were stuck with emulation, but is emulation really still a popular subject on the internet? Honestly, I don't think so. The flame has been put out ever since the last neogeo game was released to the emulation community. Sure, there is the Nintendo DS releases and Game Boy Advance releases, but they were nothing like the neogeo releases or even CPS2. I could remember the anticipation to emulate games like Marvel Vs. Capcom on Final Burn Alpha. Sure we all own these games or systems , but this is what makes emulation so exciting.

I guess it could be since we all came from an arcade background (or most of the veterans of 1Emulation), but it's really a shame. More and more arcades today are going out of business. Sure, there is emulation on the PSP, Nintendo DS, and XBOX, but the excitement is still not what it used to be. Could the PS2 scene bring it back to life? Yes, I believe it could. Did the Dreamcast scene bring it back to life? For 3 months.

So what do we do with a name like 1Emulation? Cover gaming and emulation? We are doing exactly that. However, can we expand to the likeliness of other extremely popular gaming sites? That's for you to decide.

I woke up to see 27 comments on the new 1Emulation v2.9. There is about an 95% positive feedback, and as suspected, a good 5-10% negative. I was suspecting it as it was the same reaction with the older design.

I'll be improving the 1Emulation Network Bar substantially this week and I'm thinking of changing the looks and effects completely.

We're also going to be creating a new logo for the IPB 2.1 Default skin. We just didn't have time to put it in before 1Emulation was back online from the upgrade. Thankfully we got a great graphics artist on the STAFF, BritneyPAIRS, who can help us out with that stuff. I'm going to try my best to make everyone happy with this transition to 1Emu v2.9! As for you guys who are already happy, get ready to be overjoyed. This is only the beginning of the saga as I am thinking and generating more and more ideas to come.

I'm also going to need a masseuse (person who massages you for a living) since my neck and back is killing me. I may buy a new chair in the process as well. This $20 chair I bought on sale has to go in the trash. Does anybody know any good computer/desk chairs for under $80?

BTW, if you own a PSP, check this link out. Best Buy is having a buy one, get one free sale on UMD movies.
Thanks to Wraggster from DCEmu for the link.

I don't have much more to say for this 2nd entree of my blog. Tomorrow, I'll post some dating tips.

I hope you guys love the new 1Emulation v2.9 as much as I do. This new blogging system really does kick ass quite well. Everyone can register a blog for free! Wait, aren't all blogs free? Of course they are, but nothing like 1Emulation Blogs. Infact, you have 20+ designs to choose from. You see, it took a lot of precise planning for 1Emulation v2.9. But you all are asking me, why is it called 2.9? What about 3.0? Well, that's what I'd like to ask you. WHAT IS VERSION 3.0 GOING TO BE?

1Emulation ain't done until we all drop dead and I'll makesure everybody get's all the fun out of it. Now I can't type much more since at the time I'm posting this, you guys see my nagging messages of "Board Offline" and my classic intro page to 1Emulation before this upgrade is complete.

Don't you just admire my presence?
