	Yeah nothing major this time, it's more because a few things were committed to git this week to finish properly stuff in 0.97.5, and since there's nothing in the works for now it's better to release some new binaries now rather than wait an indefinite amount of time...
</p>

<p>
	So the changes <span>:<br />
	 - Add a configuration for the joysticks dead zones in the inputs dialog, all joysticks share the same setting, don't complain since arcade joysticks don't use precise placement, it's just up left down right and center that's all.<br />
	 - cheat dialog: fix bug when text for the status bar is too long to fit on the screen normally the bar flashes and you can click on it to get the full text. Except the click has been broken since the transition to sdl2 ! At least this feature is not used often, which is not a surprise.<br />
	 - new region switches for xmvsf, mvsc, hsf2<br />
	 - mshvsf: Enable "Norimaru" for all regions. It's an extra character which was reserved for Japan only previously, but it didn't make much sense to keep it only for Japan after adding a region switch to this rom.<br />
	 - And ffman1985 produced a new console script for sf2hfj.</span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>That's all, and this time it should be the last release for quite a while !<br />
	AppImage files updated too by the way, since sdl was updated it was too bad not to include the updated version...</span><br />
	I didn't update the sdl2 dll in the dlls package for windows, you can grab the updated version directly from github if you are interested, but it's really about minor fixes inside, nothing major.<br />
	win64 dll: <a href="https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL/releases/download/release-2.32.2/SDL2-2.32.2-win32-x64.zip" rel="external nofollow">https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL/releases/download/release-2.32.2/SDL2-2.32.2-win32-x64.zip</a><br />
	win32 dll: <a href="https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL/releases/download/release-2.32.2/SDL2-2.32.2-win32-x86.zip" rel="external nofollow">https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL/releases/download/release-2.32.2/SDL2-2.32.2-win32-x86.zip</a>
</p>

<p>
	I didn't even update the version number, but you can check the date of the binary either in the archives or in the about dialog, compiled a few minutes ago!

	A few days ago I was writing a comment on a different board comparing different arcade emulators, and then it hit me that RAINE doesn't support Sega System 16/18 games such as Golden Axe, Out Run or Afterburner.
</p>

<p>
	I'm wondering why, that's all. They were never considered, is emulation too complex or are other reasons I haven't guessed?

	Hi all
</p>

<p>
	Just letting you know that a new issue of Zzap!Raine has been in the works for about 6 months - and it is now complete!
</p>

<p>
	Just like we did for Issue 12, also this new issue (13) is 1) in Italian, 2) printed and 3) commercial (not online or free PDF).
</p>

<p>
	The magazine is dedicated to Capcom CPS-1 and CPS-2 games, a sort of challenge between the two platforms. 13 games reviewed. Plus a few articles such as the "Arcade milestones of 1983", "Arkanoid", "Taito F3 System board + multicart" and "Zzap!Test" that has 12 reviews of home computer/console games.
</p>

<p>
	Total 60 pages including a A3 poster specially made for us. Cover also made specifically for this magazine.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	A crowdfunding campaign will commence soon and will last 30 days. I will post the link to the campaign once available.

	At least this time I took a good week for this one so I had more time ! For sf2mix it's another clone from zero800, not as spectacular as sfz3mix, but still interesting. For the fixes, most of them are described in this forum thread with plenty of pictures posted :
</p>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" data-controller="core.front.core.autosizeiframe" data-embedauthorid="55940" data-embedcontent="" data-embedid="embed4603439195" src="https://www.1emulation.com/forums/topic/37621-raine-0969-hotfix/?do=embed" style="height:215px;max-width:500px;"></iframe>

<p>
	Except that ffman1985 did it again, this time on "fatal fury1", and the very special thing this time is that he added the ability to play in coop with the computer! One of the most surprising bugs was probably the bad initialization of the sound driver in the sound options dialog, we probably had this one for very long !
</p>

	Hello Tux! I would like to request support for two interesting ROM hacking projects: <strong>Street Fighter Zero 3 Mix</strong> and <strong>King of Fighters '94 Team Edit Edition</strong>.
</p>

<p>
	The first one is a very interesting attempt to adapt the K.O.F fighting mechanics to the Street Fighter Zero series. The project has a website with information on the game and where to download it, here: <a href="https://sfz3mix.github.io/" rel="external nofollow">https://sfz3mix.github.io/</a>
</p>

<p>
	<img alt="bIed4hs.jpeg" class="ipsImage" data-ratio="36.76" height="200" width="544" src="https://i.imgur.com/bIed4hs.jpeg" />
</p>

<p>
	The game is available and updated in the FBNeo archive.org romset.
</p>

<p>
	The second one is a hack to allow editing the fighting teams in K.O.F '94. It is the only game in the franchise which does not allow that so a hacker had the idea to implement this feature. Apparently he/she fixed other things too. The project also has a website, here: <a href="https://neorh.mattgreer.dev/" rel="external nofollow">https://neorh.mattgreer.dev/</a>
</p>

<p>
	<img alt="l3MIKUb.png" class="ipsImage" height="448" width="640" src="https://i.imgur.com/l3MIKUb.png" />
</p>

<p>
	In the website the author describes most of the issues he/she has fixed in this mod.
</p>

<p>
	The project is also on GitHub, here: <a href="https://github.com/city41/kof94te" rel="external nofollow">https://github.com/city41/kof94te</a>
</p>

<p>
	The hack has just been updated to version 1.3 beta now, but this version is not yet available in the FBNeo archive.org romset (the version available there is 1.2.2 I guess, it's outdated already).
</p>

<p>
	It would be great to be able to play these hacks in Raine!
</p>

<p>
	I hope you can consider this request eventually.
</p>

<p>
	Thank you so much!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>PS:</strong> SFZ3Mix runs in the resolution of 416x234, I'm not sure if that could have any issues with Raine; and the game comes with the default difficulty set to "expert" and the speed set to "free select 2", I had to change that in order to enjoy it better.
</p>

	Is possible an option in Inputs menu to adjust the value for deadzone ? That would help.

	Ok, nothing major this time, release mainly due because of an update for the appimage files for non arch linux distributions !<br />
	So here are the changes anyway (mostly in chronological order):<br />
	 - lots of script updates from ffman1985, including sf2 serie (sf2, sf2hf, sf2ce, ssf2 and ssf2t, hsf2), the sfa serie (sfa, sfa3, sfz2a1, sfz3jr2, sfz2alj), and the marvel serie (mvsc, mshvsf, xmvsf) ! Impressive work... !<br />
	 - Rom region selection in the gui for sf2hf, sf2, sf2ce, sfa, xmcota, mshvsf<br />
	 - some big fixes in the converter I used to convert the cheats from mame, which allowed to fix quite a lot of things, I didn't fix everything because there was no report at all about that, and it's a long process. I just fixed the biggest games.<br />
	 - Fixed black screen for shaders when using scanline-3x during game<br />
	 - mer-curious updated samurai shodown 2 perfect edition to the latest romset<br />
	 - added some cheats and hiscore saving for dkongex and dkongjp (all dkongex cheats are not tested).
</p>

<p>
	That's all, nothing major, but still quite a lot of changes...
</p>

<p>
	Oh yeah also the 2 appimage files are updated to be in sync with the latest windows builds, and I'll update the linux arch files now... !

	<p>
		Sorry to make a new release already, it's mainly to finish the previous one finally : after testing you could get the blue screen bug in mission 2 in shinobin (neogeo or neocd version) just by allowing the speed hacks in neogeo options in raine. You can get the same result if you use a rom cheat, and one of the cheats adapted from the original shinobi from mame is a rom cheat ! So really something had to be done ! So the main part <span>:</span>
	</p>

	<p>
		<span> - disabled the 2 rom checks in shinobin, neogeo and neocd version to be able to use a speed hack or a rom cheat without getting this crazy blue screen on mission 2<br />
		 - added cheats converted from the original shinobi in mame, it's just a reassembled version, so you can find the corresponding offsets for this version</span>
	</p>

	<p>
		<span>Except that <span>:<br />
		 - Portuguese and Italian are now correctly autodetected in windows when you run raine for the 1st time (without any config file). Sorry I forgot these 2 in windows, hey I don't have anyone to maintain the windows version, so I do it by default, but it's not what I prefer !<br />
		 - The watch points work better in the console when using musashi (which means the 64 bits version), and watches on words, see the git log for the details, it's quite technical.<br />
		 - Display again the neocd id after the short name of the game in the gui at the bottom of the screen. Just for neocd, not neogeo, that's where it's most useful when testing something which is not official. It was displayed before, but quite a long time ago.<br />
		 </span></span><br />
		It's quite short but after that nothing is planned for quite a while !
	</p>

</p>

<p>
	This famous kill screen can be optionally fixed by a cheat from mame included in current raine versions anyway, but the article is still interesting ! Extreme way of playing just to pass this kill screen without actually fixing it... !
</p>

<p>
	And here is how this bug is fixed by the cheat, with some heavily commented z80 code <span>: <a href="http://donhodges.com/How_high_can_you_get.htm" rel="external nofollow">http://donhodges.com/How_high_can_you_get.htm</a></span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>About the next page from the article about the pacman bug : this time the fix is still needed and the cheat is correctly converted for that, you can enable it before starting the game if you are crazy enough to try to reach level 255 !</span> <span><img alt=":)" data-emoticon="" src="https://www.1emulation.com/forums/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png" title=":)" /></span>
</p>

<p>
	last edit : finally the dkong kill screen fix still had a bug because of the converter. It's now fixed in git, along with cheats for<br />
	fatfurspa.txt<br />
	fatfursp.txt<br />
	p47j.txt<br />
	p47.txt<br />
	samsho2.txt<br />
	sgemf.txt<br />
	superspy.txt<br />
	truxton2.txt<br />
	(the txt extension is the extension for raine scripts). These are all in git, along with the fixes for the converter.

	For the 3-4 people that still happen to visit the Zzap!Raine site, I have some news.

<p>
	I always thought that the website "didn't really age very well" and the menu icons in particular were very old and quite ugly. So I redesigned all icons with a Bubble Bobble style, and also fixed the general site layout to make it look better on modern web browsers. However the site counts about 120 independent HTML pages and I do not have the time to fix all of them at once, so the main pages were fixed and the rest will be done at a later stage.
</p>

<p>
	The site logo has also been redesigned, as well as other minor icons. I hope you like it.

	 - fixed a crash when opening the console after an error while loading a game<br />
	 - fixed a bug in the game options dialog, there is another post about this somewhere too, thanks to mer-curious...<br />
	 - fix the region selection which got broken while moving around entries from the main gui menu.<br />
	 - Restore mouse position when exiting the program, mainly useful for linux, for window managers which react to this<br />
	 - Now use SDL_OpenURL to open an url from the gui, it probably doesn't change anything for now, but it will be useful if raine is recompiled for something else than windows or linux.<br />
	<br />
	For once the linux binaries were ready a few hours before windows because of an update problem in my arch setup, nothing major finally, but very annoying !<br />

<p>
	interesting project. There seems to be a problem in mission 2 (which is not stage 2) with the fg layer, but there is still a big part of it which is fully playable anyway with neocd.
</p>

<p>
	And added the neogeo version from the roms.zip on the site, strangely the music is different ! It will be named shinobin, just rename roms.zip from the site to shinobin.zip

	And what took me so long ? Finding something to use for the sh2 emulation in 64 bits, and it was not easy !
</p>

<p>
	Finally I took the sh2 emulation from an old mame version (153), and modified it to be compatible with what gens did, so that it's compatible with the psikyosh driver. The result is slightly slower than the asm version, but not by a lot, so it will do for now. I lost a lot of time with yabause which I looked at before that.
</p>

<p>
	Except that the windows status bugs seem fixed for good for those who missed the latest update of this painful story in the forum, there was a binary specific for that.
</p>

<p>
	And you can update your dlls for 0.96 if you want a more recent sdl2 version, but it's not mandatory, it should work fine with the old dlls.
</p>

<p>
	Have fun : <a href="http://raine.1emulation.com/download/latest.html" rel="external nofollow">http://raine.1emulation.com/download/latest.html</a>
</p>

<p>
	Oh yeah, I also added some links to some strategy guides in the about dialog for galaxian, pacman &amp; clones, and dodonpachi. It's nothing fancy, it will just open your current browser with the corresponding page in the web, some kind of integrated bookmarks to raine, but I thought these guides deserved some more visibility !

	Starting from today, when browsing Zzap!Raine you will have two options:
</p>

<p>
	- the "old" web-based reviews in English, that were made with old HTML technology in 2002-2004 and all pages basically look the same.
</p>

<p>
	- free downloadable PDF magazines, approximately 10-20 pages each (6-10 MBytes), in Italian. You can then print them yourself on A4 printer, if you like.
</p>

<p>
	We just received approval from the owners of the Zzap!64 logo/intellectual property so this new PDF project is an official "son of Zzap!". <span><img alt=":)" data-emoticon="" src="https://www.1emulation.com/forums/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png" title=":)" /></span>
</p>

<p>
	Issue 1 is ready for download, Issue 2 is in the works and I anticipate issuing a new PDF every month. There are 13 issues (1-11 and 2 Christmas specials) so this will keep me busy making PDFs for about a year. Anyway, stay tuned.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks Tux and the 1emulation team for assistance with the server and your support <span><img alt=":)" data-emoticon="" src="https://www.1emulation.com/forums/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png" title=":)" /></span>

	For the soundcard detection and handling when there is more than 1 soundcard on the system !
</p>

<p>
	All this went haywire because sdl2 SDL_OpenAudioDevice never returns 1 for compatibility with sdl1... !!!<br />
	And also the fact that I never had the opportunity to test on a proper system with 2 soundcards.
</p>

<p>
	So if you have only 1 soundcard and everything works fine, no need to update this time !

	It mainly fixes the untested games in 0.97.0, but I took the opportunity to totally overhaul the disassemblers in the console, they are not external anymore, they use the functions provided by mame to disassemble. With that you can disassemble z80 encrypted roms which is convenient, but I did it mainly because my offsets arrays was becoming way too big with the sh2 emulation, it had been done for the 68000 for 32k regions, here it was really far over the limit ! But those who don't use the console shouldn't notice anything.
</p>

<p>
	Except that added the "psikyo SH2" driver to the drivers list in the game selection dialog options to be able to select these games more easily. That's all, the overhaul of the disassemblers is a very big change in git, it gets rid of most of the directories settings too.
</p>

<p>
	<a href="http://raine.1emulation.com/download/latest.html" rel="external nofollow">http://raine.1emulation.com/download/latest.html</a>
</p>

<p>
	For the gory details : dz80 was one of the external disassemblers, the one used by the z80, it was with raine since the old allegro dos version actually ! Very good disassembler, but it can't cope with encrypted roms... !<br />
	Also there was no support for the 6502 disassembler in the console, although it supported an external disassembler ! <img alt=";-)" data-emoticon="" src="https://www.1emulation.com/forums/uploads/emoticons/default_wink.png" title=";-)" /><br />
	The list command changes because of that although its functionality remains the same, now the pc line is not in the middle of the listing but at the top. That's all for now, it was a very furious coding session !
</p>

	Did you notice he didn't send any script update for 0.96.11 ? It's because he was working like crazy on a huge update... !<br />
	And that's finally 16 new scripts and 5 updated ones for 0.96.12. The short names of the games handled this time <span>:</span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>wakuwak7, wh1, wh2, wh2j, whp, aof3, aof, aof2, doubledr, fatfutsp fatfury1, fatfury2, kabukikl, kof94, ninjamas, samsh5sp, samsho, samsho2, samsho3, samsho4, samsho5 !</span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>Sorry I am too lazy to get the long names, you can either display the short names in the game list in raine, or pass the short game name on the command line when launching it (which is a feat in windows, I know !), or if you have nothing else, an internet search will give you the long name.</span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>Except that I added some other fixes for the windows placement/status, and added the ability to eject the neogeo/neocd memory card in neocd options, mainly for pbobblen hack, to be able to run it without 1st dealing with the file of its memory card. Ah also fixed a big buffer overflow for 24bpp games added in previous version, but you didn't have time to notice that, did you ? <img alt=";-)" data-emoticon="" src="https://www.1emulation.com/forums/uploads/emoticons/default_wink.png" title=";-)" /> </span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>You can get this there : <a href="http://raine.1emulation.com/download/latest.html" rel="external nofollow">http://raine.1emulation.com/download/latest.html</a></span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>(we should be able to take long holidays after that !)</span>
</p>

<p>
	EDIT : just uploaded 0.9612a with an update for the roms for samsho2pe sent by mer-curious 5 minutes after the release of 0.96.12 ! Anyway, here are the changes for this new rom which you can already get from internet archive <span>: <a href="https://github.com/zelurker/raine/commit/f96079448381e97c4181b19b01827006e175ffeb" rel="external nofollow">https://github.com/zelurker/raine/commit/f96079448381e97c4181b19b01827006e175ffeb</a></span><br />
