Here are picks of my work in progress, this has been an absolute blast. I hope that anyone that sees this either gets inspired to try or can give me pointers and ideas. I am by no means a good woodworker(LOOK AT SOME OF THE PICS)., or even creative LOL. BUT I wanted to do this. PLEASE give me pointers ans suggestions. Well I dont know why I cant up my pics but IM back to working on it so Ill get back to this. LOL

I wont be forking out $300 for an X arcade as good as they may be so wondering if i got a joystick/ button kit would it be possible to hack a controller and wire to the joystick and buttons ?

well, after some time of not doing anything with this, i had time two weeks ago with my dad-in-law to work on my arcade:

well, after about a year of talk actual results are happening.

at this stage i would like to thank my friend caleb. he's a handyman and i'm learning quite a bit to as why i will never become one myself.

sooooo... this is what i am trying to achieve:

this is what i have so far:

i have the top, back, and bottom cut to size too. i just haven't taken picture yet.

i have increased the bottom by 3.5" for more room and other options for later. maybe a subwoofer?? maybe a place for a rat to make a home?? i'm 6'1" so when it come down to it added height it is always appreciated. long term plan is to make a base for it so it stands at a normal arcade height. and that i can fold and put away, but that's along way off.

yes... i do have all the dims and degree's too for possibly doing another one.

when it comes to all the wiring and stuff i will be doing that with no help due to being a hvac service tech is my profession and electrical is EASY!!

idea's for the cp have changed due to discussions with sharpfork and ace9096 so i am going to change this:

anywho, they both have givin me idea's and helped me make things easier. this was discussed at the coinops forum that which i am no longer part of due to stuff like having an opinion and using the xtra's forum too.

i will update this hopefully soon with more pix and i really hope to have this completed by 2013!!

yes, 2013... i'm not made of money and these things take time. you just don't shell out projects left and right.

just rooting through my old stuff in my loft i found a ps2 (pc connection) to xbox controller conversion. has anyone got a mouse to work with any xbox emu? im looking to put a trackball on my new cab so this would be perfect to hack - i just dont have a ps2 mouse yet

Coinops Showcase Vertical Cab Build

After a few request from different people for a vertical cabinet version of showcase for you cab owners BP has built a special Vert Only build of showcase that features optimised for vertical only cabinet setups.

this build has:

- Vertical Romlist

- Rotated Video previews

- All controls Rotated to work at 90 degrees.

So far he has only done a quickie build that i have tested for 5 minutes, but all is looking fine and dandy to start with. Over the next few days i will be finding and testing as many vert shooters/games as i can to put in a CoinOps Showcase Vert Pack. Ill probably need a bit of help with videos and bits but us xbox owners have finally got the option to play vert games how they should be played......

if you PM me for request of the build i will have a look at them tomorrow night and send out a link, im going out to watch the fireworks tonight and will be working tomorrow - but i will be back tomorrow

Cool Mini Arcade Machine

I was starting a Barcade for my next project BUT i seen this and decided I will make one of these first !

Its truly AMAZING.... I reckon I can shrink the control panel some more by using smaller buttons...

I reckon a replica MK cabinet would be cool, but only if I can get MK running on it...

If you dont know what a dingoo is then look it up, for £50 its a steal and now runs MAME4ALL as a native application too !

I have 3, 1 bricked 1 with a broken R button (heavy handed SF2 playing lol) and my new one

I will use the one with a broken R for this as it a button can be wired

lightgun games coinops and fbl

lightgun games are nearly unplayable in coinops due to the crosshare being hard to control unfortunately 2 of my fav games fall into this type operation wolf and zombie raid luckly the fbl emu is fantastic for lightgun games i use this to play operation wolf zero point etc would love to be able to play zombie raid in fbl what are the chances off this game being added to the playable games in fbl at some point

This is my arcade machine....

Not the best footage in the world but hey....

The thing most people comment on when see it is the control panel, It uses mini momentary buttons for the L&R triggers.

The cabinet is 5ft high and 20" wide

The screen is a 14" Portable TV

Control Panel is custom made (it uses hacked pads thanks to Garcimack)

Marquee is custom made

It was tuff to fit the buttons on for 2 players.

You will can notice the Player 1 and Player2 buttons are not straight.

This is because the micro switches didn't fit correct

X-Arcade Stick

Hey everyone,

I just picked up an X-arcade stick and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for getting this to work with my emulators.

Specifically with jumping in and out of games.

For example

FBL - I can't find a way to reprogram the Right Thumbstick - nor can I use a third controller just for the R stick.

Any suggestions?

Light Gun \ D-Pad issue

I have been "slowly" testing games in my cab, I just wondered if anyone knows how to fix "Gun games" issue I got....

WHen I play a gun game I can only go left and right, I cant go up and down on the stick.... yet all other games are fine to use the up and down so I know the controls are fine on my machine!

any idea's?

Logitech Wireless Controller question

I recently got one of the wirless logitech controllers and I was under the impression that there was some way to turn it off (when you aren't using it - or it would just automatically turn off).

There is a red light that just stays on when I'm not using it, and it seems to be killing the battery life.

Any ideas?

So like many of you I'm in the works of putting my xbox into a arcade cab. Most likely a mini. I'm curious to know what dash some of you use? I would like to use xbmc and as of right now I'm using aura lite as my skin. I like that set up but keep wishing it was even more cut back.

Also... How can I make streaming or mp3 start automatically at the home page of xbmc?

One more... How to increase the size of the thumbnails?

Xbox arcade cab - possible software setups

Here is how I set up my cab...

- Boots directly to XBMC with a modified skin

- Plays random music on startup

- I use a slighty modified CoinOps skin with larger fonts and a brighter font color

I wonder how you guys set up your cabs. Please show, I can use some ideas...

Hi all.

i'm about to make an xbox powered arcade cab, and I was wondering what xbox games would work with the directional stick without analogue.

so far I have marvel vs capcom 2, capcom vs SNK EO, metal slug 3,4 & 5, dead or alive 3 (not sure if this works yet) and alien homonid

am I missing anything worthwhile?

Xbox USB Leads

I just won 2x USB leads for xbox, does this mean I can use a keyboard and maybe even a mouse?

I used to play a game on Amstrad CPC-464, Gremlins... it was a game where you had to type... like "walk to fire" and "pick up sword"

What can I use em for other than modding....

I should of checked before i bought em lol, they were £2 for 2

Any idea's or tips for what i can use them for are welcomed lol

I have done this using Paintshop Pro and various images off the net and a Bezel idea i found at arcadecontrols.

I would like to know what people think and what could or should be changed.

The CoinOPS logo in blue didn't look right so I had to use ignite If there is a new Showroom logo i would love to use that

Soldering skills in the UK for pad hacking

Hey guys,

I am looking for someone with soldering skills to hack some xbox pads for me.

OBVIOUSLY I will pay for the service and send the pads and pay the postage.

I just need each wire about 6 inches long and labeled UP,DOWN,LEFT,RIGHT,A,B,X,Y,L,R

I will then add a block connector and extend the wires.....

If anyone is interested please rely or PM me and we can arrange something.

I have posted some links below but dont have a steady hand to solder. (I have a soldering iron but failed) lol

Just picked this up today for a very good price. I think It will work out well for what I plan to do. Going to use a fresh 27" TV powered by the Xbox two 4 way joysticks and about 22 buttons total, Might even see if I can run some gun's as well. First thing I need to do is cut myself a new button control panel and figure out the placment of all these damn buttons.

I am building a cab and wonderded if it is possible to rig a coin mech for the xbox to have the authenic feel in CoinOPS, final etc?

I can add a coin door for show, but to make it work would ba awesome. Anyone done it or know if it possible? got any links maybe? I found a mech but its time based not credit based.

After finally getting an HD TV, I had to re-jig my 640 x 480 skin for my new setup,

so this is the HD 1080 & 720 versions of my Blue Fire Arcade Cab skin for Final Burn Legends.

It supports a single video or screenshot preview, video will take precedence if you have both on your HDD.

Looks better with videos anyway...

Just drop this folder into your skins folder & select through the GUI, its all good to go.

I have it setup with Bilinear filtering & Superscale2X, as that looked the best, imo.

Now I know what nes6502 meant by 1080 with filters at full speed is awesome..

LightGun Types/Features

I need to find out how many types of LightGun are used for emulation or gameplay on the original Xbox.

I understand that there are a lot of different brands.

This can lead to problems with emulators (more often) due to button layouts.

Then there are the type of gun, i mean Flash type or Infared guided ones.

The Flash type of Gun won't work with LCD or Plasma type TV's.

As probably a lot of users have found out.

To compound things further there are adapters allowing the use of peripherals from other machines.

So all in all a mixed bag of possibilities. Some have the right buttons some don't.

So if you wish to offer information use the example of mine below.

Gun = EMS LCD TopGun

Type = Infared guided

System = Xbox

Buttons = Start, Back,Thumbstick, A, B.
