cant get chrono cross to work! help please

the game keeps freezing up when i use "element" during a battle sequence.

 

i am using epsxe 1.6 with D3D render for video, epsxe default for sound, and scph1001 for bios. i m running a ISO P4U patched file of chrono cross cd1.

 

the sound is playing too fast, and the video is fine after i adjusted it to 30 FPS.

 

i tried using pete's D3D plugin but i get a black screen after the vibration on/off selection screen.

 

i dun have pete's D3D GPU and dunno where to get it ( i tried searching). if anyone can send me one would be great or direct me to one ^^

 

my system:

1.6Ghz P4

320 MBRAM

ATI 7200 64 DDR AGP 2x ( i think)

120 GB HDD

directx 9
