maybe cause it uses the original kof2001 c rom files...

unless Razoola is lying or uncertain when he added KOF2001 in kawaks then im sure its just a bootleg. but maybe your right, its maybe these bootleg P-ROMs that are actually giving us crappy bugs (console screen?)

but i am not sure.thats why stated that. try getting the s1 text from svc c roms and see what happens.

i cant remember the exact results when i tried that with FBA (i think i did it last year), but as far as i remember, there was text but the colors were rather glitchy.

Does anybody know what XOR value I should use when trying to encrypt the c-roms for samsho5? I'm trying to get it to work on James' latest MAME compile.

Has anyone successfully gotten Poirots SS5 V ROMS fix to work? (Its from that SS5 fixes pack) I tried to but everytime i pressed a key (which the application instructed me to do) it shut down. Probably has to do something with the V ROMS appication being a DOS application and me having Win XP....

create a folder called c:\merge

then put the 270 v roms 1 2 3 4 into that folder

then open a command prompt

then type cd c:\merge\

then type this for the v 1 + 2

copy /b 270-v1.bin+270-v2.bin new-270-v1.bin

then type this for the v 3 + 4

copy /b 270-v3.bin+270-v4.bin new-270-v2.bin

For anyone that wants to encrypted their Samurai Shodown 5 romset do the following: -

To encrypted the C roms of the decrypted set of Samurai Shodown V you need to download the following tools:-

Samsho5 Encrypt Patch

To encrypt the C roms of Samurai Shodown V do the following:-

1) Make sure you have the unpatched C roms from the decrypted Samurai Shodown 5 romset

270-c1.bin,0,800000,4E7BDEA1,0
270-c2.bin,1,800000,7B444985,0
270-c3.bin,1000000,800000,8C709A9B,0
270-c4.bin,1000001,800000,CFD53F5C,0
270-c5.bin,2000000,800000,C026D318,0
270-c6.bin,2000001,800000,B3D9D204,0
270-c7.bin,3000000,800000,FE03A025,0
270-c8.bin,3000001,800000,89DB2D34,0

2) Extract the C roms of the decrypted romset of Samurai Shodown 5 to its own folder.

3) Download Samsho5 Encrypt Patch and extract it to the same folder where you extracted the Samurai Shodown 5 C roms.

4) Run the "ConvertCs.bat".

5) After the encryption process is completed rename the new romfiles, which will be named 270-c1e.bin to 270-c1.bin etc.

-----

If you have the patched C roms:-

270-c1.bin,0,800000,726ABB40,0
270-c2.bin,1,800000,76806188,0
270-c3.bin,1000000,800000,8C1BA0B6,0
270-c4.bin,1000001,800000,12726C00,0
270-c5.bin,2000000,800000,5636760F,0
270-c6.bin,2000001,800000,D225120D,0
270-c7.bin,3000000,800000,751937DE,0
270-c8.bin,3000001,800000,EB06C9CC,0

Use this patch to make them into the same as the unpatched C roms listed earlier in this post. You need IPS XP to use this patch.

----

Furthermore, if you have 4 V roms extract those into the same folder as the C roms and the run "ConvertVs.bat" and then rename the new romfiles, which will be named new-270-v1.bin to 270-v1.bin

----

To Download The Above File You Must Right Mouse Click On The Link And Select Save Target As

Credit goes to IQ_132 for providing the Samsho5 Encrypt Patch and the Patch that converts the patched C roms into the unpatched C roms.
