Support 1Emulation with these beautiful custom-made desktop wallpapers!

18 Apr 2013

Over the years, we've had many amazing photoshop designers come and go on 1Emulation. Today, we share with the community a beautiful collection of Desktop Wallpapers that were made by our wonderful members. We realize a lot of these are a smaller resolution than the norm in 2013, but people who have multiple monitor setups these days may in-fact want to use one. Enjoy! :D

Changing the way we do news!

15 Apr 2013

For over 11 years, we've been stubborn with the way we do news here on 1Emulation.

Essentially, the original method was simple, but messy. If there was a new emulator released, it would go in the Site News & Updates forum. If there was new information on a console or handheld, it would go in the Site News & Updates forum. If we had a website issue, it would go in the Site News & Updates forum.... you get the picture? Essentially, we didn't sort out our news into any specific categories. I'm happy to say those days are over!

During these past three days, I have personally went through over 270 pages of news posts, spanning 11 years, and re-categorized them into four new sections.

For news related material, it's now separated into 3 sections:

-- Emulator Releases [/emu]

-- Hacking and Homebrew [/hax]

-- Gaming and Tech [/gtech]

If you like the old fashioned way we did news, you can only access the primary category for news:

-- 1Emulation.com Newsroom [/news]

For site related material, it now has its own section:

-- 1Emulation.com Information [/info]

Finally, make sure to take advantage of the 1Emulation ShortURL system if you haven't already! For example /emu means you can access the Emulator Releases forum directly by going to http://1emulation.com/emu in your browser... easy! :-)

[Members Only!] Forum Attack System RETURNS on 1Emulation!

11 Apr 2013

ibprobattle.png

After over 4 years without a forum attack system, it finally has returned to 1Emulation! What is a forum attack system you ask? It's essentially an embedded video game within our forums that allow you to "attack" other members with guns, grenades, and various other weapons to gain notoriety, points, and money (credits). The more members you can "kill", the higher you can level-up! Much like Pokemon or World of Warcraft, you have to build your profile into a stronger and stronger character until it's almost impossible to kill.

For members who played the original forum attack system on 1Emulation, this one is a little different, but more or less the same. Just click the new yellow fist icon at the bottom of a person's profile to attack them. You can't miss it!

New 1Emulation Design. Welcome to Red, Blue, and White!

09 Apr 2013

Some would argue it's colors of pure Americana, other's would argue it's retro gaming to the max! It's been 11 years that we have been online and it was time we redid the design for 1Emulation yet again. We hope you like it! Expect some more new features and changes soon. :-)

Welcome back to 1Emulation v6.0!

07 Apr 2013

Hello everyone! It's been a week since 1Emulation was last online. Let's just say we just came back from the upgrade from hell! Miskie and I spent the entire week working with Invision Board Tech Support while optimizing and cleaning up our 11 year old database (remember, 1Emulation started in 2002!) for upgrade. I'm very excited and pleased to say we are back online and better than ever! Unfortunately, we have good news and bad news. Let's start with the good news...

The good news is we're back online! The database has been optimized considerably and we removed over 70MB of old crap that was lingering around. We also successfully installed a new downloads section and are in the process of re-installing the forum attack system. Over the next few weeks, we'll be fully activating the downloads section for public consumption with hundreds of the latest emulators and plugins ready for our community!

The bad news is we found evidence that our forums were hacked several times over the course of about 3 years. We usually keep up with patches, but I guess we weren't fast enough. Though we found no proof that our database was stolen, we want to strongly suggest to all our members to PLEASE CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS! This is extremely important.

Part of the reason why were offline for so long is we had to meticulously remove the infections from the database that were dropped from SQL injection attacks, as well as deleting various files that were dropped on the server to re-infect the database. I'm happy to say it should all be gone now.

Finally, we also lost some private messages, status messages, forum notifications, and various settings on the forums that were made between November 2012 and March 31st, 2013. Unfortunately, these were unrecoverable. We apologize to our members if they lost anything important.

Over the course of the next few days, we'll be adding a brand new design for 1Emulation v6.0, as well as some more improvements. We also have installed a new backend system to control and limit the spammers who register on the forums.

Ghost Recon Alpha (Movie) "Under half hour, Over the top"

13 May 2012

Posted by Shoma in Gaming and Tech News [/gtech]
With Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, coming out very soon and with the Ghost Recon Online beta testing going on, you'd think Ubisoft is ready to just let the money come in. But no! They have brought you some more Ghostly goodness, that's right now we're getting a little Ghost Recon movie! However one journalist would pose the question: Did this 25min mini-movie cost more than the game itself? Crazy notion but when looking at the crew one would wonder.
  • Directors: Hervé de Crécy and François Alaux (Academy Award winners)
  • Writer: Tim Sexton (Academy Nominee)
  • Editor: Pietro Scalia (Two-time Academy Winner)
  • Sound: Per Hallberg (Two-time Academy Winner)
But those are just the big names, we also have a range of different actors portraying the ghost team.
  • Mark Ivanir - Ghost Leader
  • Chucky Venn - Chuck
  • Keith Gilmore - 30K
  • Chook Sibtain - Pepper

This movie is set to be some type of prequel to the Future Soldier game that will be coming out.
Each of the ghost team is a playable character in the campaign mode of the game. Also, Ubisoft wanted to drop a few more eggs in the movie, two examples are that the setting of the movie will be one of the multi-player maps online. The other one may peak your interest or not, because if you pay attention, hidden in the film will be a code that unlocks an in-game weapon. The movie seems rather solid and doesn't have too bad of the "cheesy game adaption movie" smell to it. I'm looking forward to seeing it and this small movie could be entertaining on its own whether you're a ghost fan or not.

Adam leaves G4 - Few of his kind

05 May 2012

Posted by Shoma in Gaming and Tech News [/gtech]

If you dabble in the gaming community through forums, websites or TV shows- chances are you’ve heard of G4TV. If so, then you without a doubt know Adam Sessler

On April 25th, Adam Sessler - Co-host to the popular G4 show, X-Play announced his departure from the station after 14 years. Sessler was often received as an icon to the show and the network itself. If you followed him since his first appearance on “Extended-Play” in 1998, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say he fundamentally help build G4 to what it is today. As always, all things must come to an end but the reason why has been skillfully avoided by both Adam and G4. There is word buzzing around is that Sessler left due to a contract dispute, however this has not been confirmed.

Sessler’s Representative gave a statement:

Television personality Adam Sessler and TV network G4 are parting ways, with Adam's last episode as host of G4's "X-Play" airing on the network today, Wednesday, April 25. Adam has been hosting the show since it first aired as ZDTV's "Gamespot TV" in July 1998 and he also served as Editor In Chief of games content at G4. His current projects include starring as himself in the Summer 2012 movie "noobz" and consulting with a film production company on theatrical feature adaptations of video games. Adam intends to stay in front of the camera and continue as a key voice within the games industry. He also sings and is available for weddings and bar mitzvahs.

Sessler is known for his unique humor and brutally honest appeal to all aspects of the gaming world. He, along with several others survived the network’s many transitions, from ZDTV, TechTV to the current G4TV. Since then he was not only a host of X-Play, but also chief-in-editor, and he hosted a few web shows such as Feedback and probably most known, Sessler’s Soapbox. Sessler made no effort to hide his passion for gaming and perhaps his most notorious display of passion was a podcast in which he addressed criticisms of a review. One thing I attest to Sessler is what he says may either make you love him or hate him, but he is man deserving of respect.

Sessler later posted on Twitter,
"Thank you to everyone with your exceedingly kind wishes and thoughts, I think I'll finally take a nap."

Where he goes from here is not quite clear, but one thing is for sure: He is not out of gaming scene just yet!
