Im not sure if this should be in the Online section, or the Xbox section, feel free to move it mods if its in the wrong place, anyway...
Lets play some XBox online!, Me and Gamecop where just playing Star Wars Clone Wars online, and we decided it would be cool to schedule some games.
Gamecop has Star Wars Clone Wars, and Tetris Worlds (or at least thats what i know of, I dont think he has any more yet though)
By the way, Tetris rules, shut up lol
I have Star Wars Clone Wars, Tetris Worlds, Serious Sam (XB Connect ONLY), Mechassault, and Halo (XB Connect ONLY)
I have an Xbox Live account, My Gamertag is "Shibathedog" without quotes, But me and gamecop where thinking more XB Connect because he doesnt have it yet
If anyone wants to start a big game of Tetris/Star Wars: Clone wars then post
OR if you want to start a game of any of the others i have listed, post there too, please make sure to specify wether it wil be on Live or XB Connect (If you have Gamespy Tunnel, go get XB Connect, its better, but if you MUST, specify if it will be on Gamespy Tunnel)
Heck, if you want to start ANY Xbox Games online, schedule them here, lets make this the official Xbox Online thread
But onto the currently scheduling-in-progress game
Id be willing to participate in the Star wars clone wars game, and im sure gamecop would too, how about you?

Yeah i helped Gamecop get settled in. I opened up a server of Clone Wars just for us.....I kicked his arse! lol we didnt know wtf we were doin though.
I do not have xboxlive and do not intend on gettin it so all the online gaming will have to be XBconnect as i havent really enjoyed my experiences with Xlink.
I have a lot of titles too, im down with some 1emu gamin.
Oh yeah, if you dont have a communicator (headset) get one! Makes the game experience that much better and yes, XBconnect supports it.

I have confirmed the CAT5 (cross over) cable works. So no need for a router. Just directly connect the CAT5 cable from your XBOX to the PC and your set!

What's XLink?
Shibathedog
Apr 15 2004, 07:36 AM
Xlink is like XBConnect but crappier and i think it runs on the console, Its built into Action Replay isnt it?
I use a crossover to my PC also, it works great, wheras this type of connection would not work with Gamespy Tunnel
Im open for gaming tomorrow, anyone else?
BTW, if i go to my friend Ryan's house tomorrow, he is REALLY good at Halo, if someone wants a challenge, come and play him, he'll be more than willing to play

Shibathedog
Apr 16 2004, 02:09 AM
yeah, it works pretty well, although i havent tested it much with XBConnect, ive only tried it with XBox Live, but it should have around the same results, then again, alot more data is sent in a direct system link game than an online one to save bandwidth.
anyway, its the 8th Inning of the Mets game right now that im watching, after the game is over, anyone want to play?
(Prican, Ill play you in Halo)

xbconnect + dial up = bad
i dont do xbox live because i have a modded xbox for emulators and junk
ill get dsl pretty soon then we can kick each others bootays

there is a lightsaber mode if you download it with Xbox Live, otherwise just ships
and by the way, I HAVE tested Halo with XBConnect, its horrible unless its 1 on 1
Star wars seems to work ok though, as with some other games, i havent done it very extensivley with anything but Halo though.

Halo works great on xbconnect if u can find a good host with a alot of upstream. (more upstream, more u can host without lag). I can usually host about 8-10 people without any lag. I'm down to play some xbox online. Gamertag is brightsons.
I can play the following over xbconnect:
Amped 2
Rallisport challenge 2
Splinter cell: pandora tomorrow
Halo
Tony Hawk underground.
I can play the following over xbox live cause I have the actual game:
Project Gotham Racing 2
NBA 2k3
Capcom vs. Snk 2
Toca Race Driver 2

If u run a crossover cable from your pc's network card to your xbox and setup ICS (internet connection sharing) or some kind sharing utilty on your pc then yes it will work.
You can't use the usb port and ethernet port on your modem at the same time. What kinda OS do u have???

what do you wanna get going? live or xbconnect? how is your modem connected to your pc? if you want to set up xbconnect you can do a few things. I have my modem connected with a usb cord and my crossover cable from the xbox to my nic. my pc is set up with ICS and xbconnect, works fine. exept all anyone plays is halo on there.
the only problem my set up has is when I turn off my xbox it disconnects my dsl. not a big deal but annoying. if anyone knows a fix for that please share.

so no ethernet port huh? so i guess your modem is hooked up via usb. that ethernet port on your modem is prolly only for connecting the modem with an ethernet cable. go get yourself a nic (network interface card)it'll add an ethernet port to your pc. they only cost about 20 bucks. or a router if you wanna do that but a router costs more then just a basic network card.

Even if he did get a router he would still need a nic (network card).
THis is the easiest way to do it. You'll need the following:
NIC
cross-over cable (its like a cat 5 cable except the wiring is different)
Xbox
xbconnect
Setup internet connection sharing (ICS) or home networking on your pc (it depends what OS u have: win98, win2000, winxp, etc.)Run the crossover cable from your NIC thats in your pc to your xbox. Then setup ICS and you should be good to go. If you need more help check out
xbconnect help and look at setup D.

and as for a crossover cable. if what you have isn't one get an xbox system link cable. it's a crossover cable and it's cheaper then a crossover found in the pc section of your local store.

If you have Dialup, use the same method and enable ICS (internet connection sharing)
If you have an ethernet port, use a hub
