Street Fighter 2 - Champion Edition was the best. when it first came out, i played the hell out of it. the others are great too, but you always have the foundest memories of your first love.

I agree with the person who said your fondest memories are of your first love (Street Fighter 2 Turbo) but I still think that (Street Fighter 3 Third Strike) is the most polished 2D fighting game ever...
It flushed out button mashers, they hate it cuz you can't mash to win. Alpha 3 for Dreamcast is at a close 2nd just because of all the madness they added to it.
sighsimhopeless
Nov 26 2003, 04:25 AM
Well SF 3 third strike had its qualities but once a person mastered the art of parrying the game becomes boring and the combos thrown out in SF 3 kills the game. However I would have to say that it did a good job wipeing out the button masher. As for best SF its definately SF II turbo I started out on it and I remember the days where we had a whole group of people playing round after round in a local arcade.

I've got to say Marvel vs. Streetfighter, but I actually grew up playing Streetfighter 2 Turbo on my Snes. For all those who think the SF3 games are perfect, just try Super StreetFighter 2 X on CPS2.That is the most balnced SF game ever made.

Hey KOH_roms
You said your fave CPS1 Street Fighter Game was Super SF2 Turbo
the SUPER SF's were the first games on CPS2. They don't look as good as most CPS2 games, but that's what hardware they were on. So you'll have to rethink your fave CPS1 StreetFighter

The best Street Fighter game is Street Fighter III - New Generation
I loved the first SFIII. Only faults with that one is - NO HUGO...
I do own all SF3's, but I prefer New Generation. 3rd Strike was set to turbo speed all the time so I didn't find it as tactical as the first 2.
ALEX and DUDLEY. Once you mastered them..Oh Baby!

It's hard to say, each one had there good points and bad points.
I would say Street Fighter 3:Third Strike in a heart beat, but they totally screwed up Sean in that one.
To me, probably Street Fighter Alpha 3, Fei Long is the man.

I own all the streetfighter games, but I think alpha 3 is the most balanced and refined but I still prefer playing Super street fighter 2 as a one player game. Street fighter 3 is not really that balanced, Gill is a cheese ball.

I have never played the Street Fighter 3 games, so I can't tell about these.
So except the SF3s, I'd say the best one was Street Fighter Alpha 3 (and I think the PSX version is even better than the arcade one).

Street Fighter Alpha 3 was the worst Alpha game.
It did have more characters (I only enjoyed playing as Cody from the new guys), but the whole feeling of the game was altered. The juggles were good fun but made the fights rather clumsy.
In my opinion the Alpha games got worse. SFA1 had the right damage levels and difficulty level (on level

. SFA2 was good but the fights went on a bit too long and SFA3 was just way too easy (on top difficulty) and added too many daft features (safe fall and juggling) and the characters were way too weak (except obviously Blanka and E.Honda - the cheesiest SF characters ever).

SFA1 is when Ryu was at his strongest along with most characters. Then they get weakened later. Ryu's Dragon Punch was no joke in SFA1.
As far as Street Fighter 3 goes, I have mixed opinions. You see my two favorite characters of Street Fighter 3 Alex and Sean. Alex is best in Street Fighter 3:Third Strike. Sean was best in Street Fighter 3:New Generations (they screwed him up so bad in Third Strike).
Well, in Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Guile's Flash Kick was two hits, hehe.
I guess Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Edition.

SFA3 gets my vote. SF3 is good but i find SFA3 better (especially the DC version since it beats the arcade version).
my favorite SF2 is definitely SF2CE. hyper fighting edition i liked but still pefered championship edition
poor SF1 never gets a vote

hehehe i know what you mean, nah i love 2d fighters, they all look like cartoons but i think that it is not the intention most of the times, unlike the last capcom games and the game arts of snk lately, some time ago they looked more real, if they are gonna make them like cartoons at least they should be more creative, draw some new sprites for christ sake

I always thought SF The Movie (the game), was tight. But my favorite, and it's not really a SF series, has to be MvsC2. But, if we're just stickin' to the SF series, then I'd have to say SFA3 or SF3rd Strike. Both were excellent games, and I loved the parry on SF3.

I can't understand all the votes for SF2:CE, only way I can see is that all u people must have been stuck with the Megadrive/Genesis and never got to play SNES SF2. As far as I could tell the 'boss' characters were just that, and never well balanced enough to use properly although I did like using Sagat when I tired of Ryu/Ken.
This may be all nostalgia however.
So probably Super SF2 Turbo for the SNES would be my pick.
As for the Alpha series, i think SFA3 was the best Alpha game as it was the first SF game I had played in years, since SNES SF2, that actually felt almost like the SF series of old, though I never really took to the 'power bars' or whatever.
All the rest I own or have owned, as in X-MenvsSF, MvsC etc but they are all pure arcade adrenalin button bashing mayhem and not really in the same league.
As for SF3, I have never seen or played it/them.

Best one IMO: Super Streetfighter 2 - The new Challengers - it had everything i loved from streetfighter2CE plus new moves and characters. I must say that streetfighter alpha3 is also quite nice.
I agree with alexis that the characters in the new versions of streetfighter looks like comic characters - alpha1 2 and 3 and streetfighter 3

Snk always kept to the same style of design tho - which is a good thing
