you need:
a gamecube (duh)
PSO
broadband adapter
then you simply launch the iso dumper and you have a.gcm on your pc.

correct!!
if you want to burn them and play them on your GC (like copying games) You cant!!
If you want to play them in an emulator, look for my post about it!! use that emulator!!

Backup Game Cube(par BBBTrueman de gamecopyworld)
Ok i have READ the GC-Disc in my DVD with Clone CD. The Disc finally CD has 75:12 min, the game is NHL Hitz 20-02, and Super Monkey Ball (73 min).
Here are the steps to make a COPY of you Game.
FIRST:
RUN CLONE CD
SECOND:
Don't close your DVD-Rom, put the GC-Disc in and
Last Step:
Click on Clone CD Backup-Read from DVD.
ATTENTION!!!!! CLONE CD MUST CLOSE THE DVD- OR THE SOFTWARE CAN'T READ THE DISC.
try it let me know it works. I will try it out eventually.
p.s. there are ways of playing the backups but im not in to piracy, just emulation.

ok, what is PSO? never heard of that. And this broadband adapter? never heard of that either :-/ And, are you saying that I'll have to dump the game from the gamecube to my pc? I know that's how you do it with the xbox. Thanks for your replies!
P.S. I currently have a router, and that's how I backup my xbox games.

PSO= Phantasy star online. There is a program I dont know what it is called but it was made by one of the gc dumping groups and with it u could dump the games. once u got the games on ur pc u can run another little program to network to ur gc and boot up any game u have on ur pc through the "broadband adapter". my frined even had it running from his xbox, that is he had the gc games stored on there. dont know how he did, so dont ask. i just know its possible. and no I dont mean he played then on xbox

Okay, I've done this so I'll add what I know. You need the following items:
Gamecube
Gamecube Broadband Adapter
Phantasy Star Online Ep. 1 & 2
A Crossover Cable between your PC and Gamecube
Now you need the following software:
Gamecube ISO Tool (Used to make Backups)
Paradox Gamecube Disc Server (Used to play Backups over the network to the GC)
Once you've done that, load up Phantasy Star Online (hereafter PSO) and input the following info under the network settings under Network Profile in Options:
IP: 192.168.1.32
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.100
Primary DNS: 192.168.1.100
Change your network settings on your CPU to the following:
IP: 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Now start up the Gamecube ISO Tool on your CPU and start and online game with PSO. It should load the ISO Tool to the Gamecube instead of PSO logging into Sega's servers. Watch the screen and it will tell you to change discs so you can start ripping to your computer.
The output file will be a.gcm file. You can use this file using the Paradox Disc Server to upload the.gcm over the network and play it again on your Gamecube.
It also takes a long time to rip GC games (about an hour and a half) and I've only had a few successfully play back flawlessly. The others have some stuttering issues (due to the 10Mb network locked by Sega's PSO).
Hope that helps. There's also a good article here:

Ok, this sounds like something I can do! But may I ask where I could find the following items?
Broadband Adapter - Have no idea what this is, and where to attach it, how to use it, etc etc.
Phantasy Star Online Ep 1 & 2 - I take it this is a game you purchase. If I'm wrong, please explain.
Crossover Cable from GC to PC - Is this a special kind of cable, I see no CAT5 ports on my GC, everything is on the bottom of my GC, I see 3 removeable panels, could you please explain this to me as well? As well as what type of cable to purchase?
The software I believe I can find through the net. Everything else that has been typed I understand, and know I can do. And I also know what the other guy ment by playing them off of the xbox, he means the gc finds the games through the network, instead of searching the network for the pc, it searchs the network for the xbox, the ip address.

Thanks so much guys!!! Can't wait to get started!
Shibathedog
Feb 23 2004, 08:11 PM
90% of that software is on consolevision.com
the Broadband adaptor is a little box that plugs into the bottom of your GC and gives you a network port
a crossover cable (Also called Patch Cable) is simply a CAT5 cables with the wires inside reversed on one side
sp1200
Feb 23 2004, 11:02 PM
buy PSO game.
buy broadband adapter, plug it in to bottom of the cube.
i have a router, you could use a second NIC if need be, or a crossover cable i guess. router is easiest, i have my GC, PS2 and XBOX all connected to mine.
you boot up PSO, then run the dumper from the pc side, then on PSO click online game, the dumper then launches and tells you to switch discs of the game you want to dump, then it begins dumping to your pc.
You then play the games from your pc... you CANNOT burn them to work on a GC (yet) however you can burn them and stream them from your pc drive if you want, but it makes no sense unless you have limited space on your HD.
Use the pheonix loader to run the games... some games work 99%, most have issues with sound and FMV sequences...
follow those instructions above to set your IP properly. its fairly easy.

infidelity,
sp1200 and Shibathedog are correct on about everything, but to clear up things, here's what you need to get/do:
The Broadband adapter is a device that plugs into the bottom of your Gamecube where those 3 panels are. It basically gives the Gamecube an Ethernet Port. This is how you will connect to your PC and backup games from the Gamecube.
Phantasy Star Online is used as the means of uploading the ripping/loading software onto the Gamecube so you can backup/load games.
Crossover cable allows you to connect your PC to your Gamecube directly. It is a special type of Cat 5 cable with 2 of the 8 pairs switched (the TX and RX pairs) so that two devices can talk to each other without having to have some sort of interface. Like SP1200 said earlier, you can bypass this if you have a Router/Switch/Hub, but all your cables then would need to be Straight Through cables (no pairs switched).
Hope that made sense and good luck backing up!!

i think that is a real waste of time trying to do all this, besides, GC doesn´t have too much games that makes the effort worth of your time, meybe RE4, i just prefer to spend some money on my GC when a worthy game is available.
Shibathedog
Feb 24 2004, 06:55 PM
no way a game like RE4 would be able to stream over 10MBPS, unless its set up like the old ones with images, MAYBE...

meh, id say there are at least 60 good games for it
but their better on other systems

I really like the Gamecube's graphics style though, alot like the Dreamcast, they dont look REAL, but its like their not supposed to, they are virtually perfect, they are SUPPOSED to look like that, all shiny and smooth...freakin beautiful, thats why i still buy games for it

ok, I've got a problem
I'm trying to run Gamecube ISO Ripping Server 1.0.0.29 and it's not working
I created a save onto my memory card from my pc to my GC using PSULv1.1, so I know it was connecting in some way. Now when it came to loading the Gamecube ISO Ripping Server Program, the ip settings were all set, I go to launch it, and I get this error message.
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
C5:0504 IP:0108 OP:c7 8b 6d 03 d2 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
I choose Close, and it doesn't close it, I get this message at the bottom of the GCISORS program, "Server Up, Waiting for Data..." But nothing happens when I load the online PSO game. I'm running Windows XP Professional if that helps. PLEASE HELP!!! I'm so confused

Feb 29 2004, 07:33 PM
Hmm, sounds like maybe some bad software. The only problems I get is that it usually needs certain DLL files and those usually come with the program and usually have to be placed in the %SYSTEMROOT%\system32 folder.

any ideas on what I should do? this is the only thing stopping me.

could it be the gamecube iso ripping server program itself that's bad? maybe i could borrow a copy of that program from someone? *crossing fingers*

Alright, I finally was able to rip gamecube games to my PC. But, My Super Monkey Ball Game crashed right near the end f the process. It did it twice, so it must be my game and not my systems.
I transfered my Legend of Zelda Multi Pack Game, and I'm having trouble running this. I'm currently using Cubesoft Phoenix v2.1 (build 56) I leave everything on default settings with Phoenix. I was able to see the nintendo logo of the zelda game on my gamecube with PSO running. There's no music, just a lot of loud static. Next, I'm able to choose wether I want to play the origianl, or the master quest. No matter which one I choose, the screen goes black, and nothing happens. Any other type of settings I try, I don't even get as far as the nintendo logo. I spent a crap load of money for this process, and even if it runs at 6fps, I still want to play this stuff, could someone please help? I'm tearing my hair out!!! ARGH!! Thank you for your replies!!

You can make copies of gamecube games. You first do the extraction of the stuff, and make an ISO out of it, then you buy some mini-dvds (1.5 gigs, 8cm discs) from like www.allmediaoutlet.com and burn them, ive done this and it works. ive made so many copies from blockbuster and gamefly.com, i probably have all the games there are for GC.
I also found a piece of software called GC Ripper. GC ripper extracts the game directly to ISO.
Prican25
Mar 7 2004, 01:28 AM
yes but you can't play the disc's on gc yet so you're better off making use of a 4.7gb dvdr and fill it with as many iso's it can fit and play from your pc.

Wait, what if you have the Panasonic Q? That plays almost EVERYTHING you throw at it. I bet it won't have a prob. with Full size DVDs.
Also, isn't the only prob with backup discs on the Cube is that they don't spin the same direction as the official discs? Can't you make it so the laser reads the opposite direction and the motor runs the usual way? I dunno. Just inquiring.

haha! This is a sticky so I get away with gravedigging! I was about to make a thread but it would be kinda pointless.
Anyway, Is there a better way to play backups now? Burning them to mini-dvds or something? I have a few but I'm sure you need some kind of software mod at least if not a chip. It seems like most of the stuff required to play backups mentioned are hard to find now. I can't find SD media launcher anywhere.

Get yourself a mod chip, there are some very simple ones, minimal or no soldering required. Either that, or get yourself a Wii -- softmoddable & plays gc games (off sd, hdd, or whatever).

this is pretty useless, but there are also a number of games you can zip up with .rar and burn it onto a CD-R/RW so that its easier for use with emulators, so far i've only tested this with Zelda - Wind Waker, Mario Kart Double Dash. Can't remember the file size, but if anyone is interested, i can try this again.
