the only reason why the 4 vroms right there would be merged has to do with a bootleg aspect....cause bootlegers often like splitting 2 vroms into 4...don't know why though

..thats the most correct svc dat I've seen so far. The p1 rom right there takes the bosses that were on plus out of the select screen(to make it a lot like the original maching)

hey i tried making teh dat file for the kof2003b that i downloaded it has only 6 c roms and 5and6 are the same and some of the crcs are different then yours, it is the one that is for kawaks 148 dev

Hey, been looking for a dat for Power Instinct Matrimelee but can't seem to find any that would work for the one i got. Basically I think I got it from emurussia..it's all bin files not roms and is 32.4MB. Any help would be appreciated, or just tell me I'm a moron for missing something really simple here.

We have a dat file put up. Just check if the rom names are the same and the rom files are the same.

How come I have these for SvC and SSV, the roms are 100% good according to romcenter yet they're different from what's shown here:

Also, I tried the Matrimelee dat on this thread and it just crashes nebula when I try to rescan roms

Yeah, the Matrimelee does that for me too...that's why I use Kawaks.

And not all of these dats are universal, there are many different versions especially for SvC.

I suggest you use RomDataMaker to make DATs specific to your ROM sets.

I just tried that with Ghostlop, I just got garbled graphics! Here's the dat it generated:

Encrypted graphics would be the problem. That happened to games such as MS5 when it was first released.

Ghostlop is not encrypted, is it? Cause the C roms compress well. So how do I correct that dat file??

For MS5, does the encrypted set work on any emu?

Also, I tried the dat file generator on powerin4.zip and it seemed to work.

Ghostlop is not encrypted, as it is a proto that should have been released years ago.

I found out that the Matrimelee dat has an extra space after 1 or 2 of the lines. I'm not sure which one. It's this extra space that's causing the crash.

Try putting your caret at the end of each line, press right, and see if you get taken to the next line or not. Do this for each line and delete any spaces you come across. Then try again.


And now, another KOF 2K3 dat....this one boots properly on my Nebula 2.24 w/ Loaader. But the frigging controls don't work.

I couldn't get the controls to work either in Nebula so I gave up on it. I haven't played the game since and that was months ago.

No, but the bootleg runs fine in Nebula and NeoRAGEx. Is your set encrypted or decrypted?

I have no clue. I never knew the difference between the two(one is bigger maybe?). How do you tell? Thanks.

Well, usually you can tell by the filesizes alone, since encrypted sets are a whole lots bigger than decrypted sets.
Also, encrypted files inside archives *generally* don't compress well, so look at the compression ratios of individual files inside the set; if some files have significantly lower compression ratios than the rest, it's very likely that the files are encrypted.

Your set is decrypted. But i think that it's not nebula/kawaks working set. You will need special p1 rom and some patches for that.

@gsergio - my dats were written for use in Nebula. parent and altrenate sets are included for reference as Nebula at present does not include code (to the best of my knowledge) to decrypt Z80 or Sample roms with the exception of byte-swapped Sample roms i.e. mslug4.

the sets appended with "(decrypted), (PCB, decrypted), (MVS, decrypted), or (AES - recalled, decrypted) have all been tested to work with said emulator

You are not using a Loader. Official versions of Kawaks and Nebula (and MAME too) have locked out newer games, because having the playable breaks the 3-year-rule of emulation and puts the authors into some legal responsibility.

Nebula especially shows the 'Game Locked' message.

I have more but i gotta go, Cheers! I Tested them all 99% work.. kof10th i still can't find the grfx key or how to load the c roms and encrypt them,

After seeing all these dats...i've my e-wang is growing smaller and smaller. My once large pride of having all/most neogeo roms is going down the drain.

Basically, I have a simple question.

Are all these different sets really different? I mean, with all these different versions it seems that people are getting a little overboard pulling these sets out of their @$$e$.

So basically...can I feel safe having a working mslug5n.zip while there are other million versions out there like mslug5, mslug5nd, and so forth and whatever.

I really wanted to collect as much as I can but this seems a bit too ridiculous.

And with this all versions that are decrypted, encrypted, prescripted, p's. c's and such, they are basically the same right but screwed around differently?

You got that right. Some sets might have enabled bosses and such, but the differences are almost non-existant.
Basically, encrypted sets are in one way or the other, closest match (or dead-on match) to how the roms were on the actual arcade board.

You really should not worry about your e-wang, if you just care about the fact that you have every game, and not about having every single variation out there.

Nebula cannot run non encrypted c-roms unless you encrypt them with the GfxCrypt:2. There are amillion versions of everything. There are really only one version of each game. A Fully Decrypted version of the game is your best bet to run on every emulator. on that note, here's more ! hah!

What i did was i went through every game and made sure they have the correct roms in them. ive patched and added..and tested them all most of them work. The only one that doesn't work is kof10...no biggy. Nebula gets tricky when you try to add more roms, sometimes adding one more rom to the dat set messes up the emulator.
