Congratulation! You should start hunting for those PS3 exclusives. Uncharted Drake Fortune, MGS4 (if you're a fan, just to have a closure), Siren (quite good, but I sucked in this game sad.gif ) GOW Collection (unless you have play GOW 1 & 2 to death) should keep your time until GOWIII, FFXIII, GT5 came out.

I bought MGS4 for $32, considering how the game goes, it being on the 360 would make no since, some of the dialogue would be completely out of place, play the game and beat it to find out what I mean.

That's exactly what I was talking about earlier. You'd have to change quite a bit, and take out a lot as well just to port this game over. Me thinks it would cost too much. Hell, a second edition was never even done for this game it was so complete when it first came out. M$ would have to pay a lot of money to both Sony and Apple to get this game over to the 360.

I'm personally waiting for early 2010 because of God of War III, Star Ocean: The Last Hope <International> and Final Fantasy XIII. Also, the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia, if only Namco Bandai would stop being a bitch and make a proper announcement of the NA/EU release (and you know, the game sold ridiculous amounts of copies on it's first day in Japan). I have already bought DMC4 and Prince of Persia, so that I have something to play when I get the console.

The only real problem is my Internet connection, or rather, my cable modem box and the Ethernet cable are located in such a place that it's going to take a bit of sweat, a switch and more Ethernet cable if I ever want to put that console online.

EDIT: Is the 250GB model already out?

Yep, the 250GB is out. I think it is bundled with few games, like Tekken 6.

Don't even bother getting the 250GB model. I bought the 120GB model and upgraded the HDD to 500GB for only $80. Ordered the HDD from Newegg, really great site!

Did you open up your PS3 and swap in the new drive or did you buy an external HDD? I'm not that worried about HDD space though, I think I would be ok with just the 120GB model. We'll see.

I can't think of what to do with the extra space too, other than installing the games tongue.gif If i want to watch movies, i plug in my external HDD. HDD need to be formatted with Fat32, if i remember correctly.

Yes, it's an internal HDD, and no, it does not void the warranty if you do it. Sony encourages it actually.
Agozer
That's good to hear. I had my doubts whether Sony had reverted to another case of "it's not yours even if you bought it" and either made it very difficult to swap the HDD and/or void your warranty if you tried to swap.

Also, considering that I live in the PAL region, are all PS3 games region free with only Blu-Ray and PSX/PS2 games region-locked or does that "freeness" vary? Not that the whole PAL/NTSC thing matters because of 720p and 1080p these days, but you know.

EDIT: lol, split

Yes, all PS3 games are region free. I upgraded my HDD so I can load up all my movies. I still have over 150GB free for content. I just like having everything on the system, as opposed to hooking up an external. Besides, now I can say I have a 500GB PS3 Slim for only $320!
Agozer
Neato. Now, come on Tales of Vesperia PS3...
Devia Eleven
The Slim is a good deal, I bought it and now I'm nearly addicted to it, there's just a lot of games for it that have come out over the years that I never got to play previously. MGS4 and Killzone 2 are keeping me interested. It can do many things the 360 cannot, and those things in particular, include, data transfer.
L.S.D
I am hooked to AC II and GOW Collection at the moment. GOW Collection is done right. If devs want to port their PS2 games to PS3, they should go GOW route. i will gladly shell out my hard earned cash to get it if i really like the game.

As i speak, this game is practically sold out in every part of my country, where stocks that came in were sold out in one day. And game shops are having a hard time trying to stock up the games as the demand is too high.
Agozer
Are the improvements apparent in screenshots or are they of such nature that you need to see the games in motion to truly see the difference?
L.S.D
The graphic look much better in every aspect, shown at true 720p at 60fps. The bummer is in-game cutscenes are shown at 480p, so you will see the difference immediately. The enhancement in in-game graphics is so huge that, those that never seen GOW before might think it is a new game.

Recommended if you love GOW and GOW II.
Agozer
It seems that this is yet another collection that only gets a release in the US, at least as far as GameFAQs is to be believed. Not that it really matters when the games are region free, but it still irks me.

I wouldn't buy it for 40 bucks but maybe 30 though. I got it for PS2 already. Anyways, a PS3 is great, don't buy Assasins Creed.

Yeah, but buy Assassin's Creed 2. Improvement over the 1st in every way.

Funny thing, I'm itching to buy Assassin's Creed 2 just to see the improvements. All the rentals are out too.

Well, I got my beautiful PS3 Slim 250 today. Works fine with HDMI, although it's strange that a Sony Bravia TV doesn't detect a PS3 making it impossible to use any of the additional features HDMI has to offer - a very common problem, it seems. Putting off gaming until the controller is fully charged (the USB cable is pathetically short).
Devia Eleven
Agozer, what games do you have?
Agozer
Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Devil May Cry 4, Prince of Persia. MGS4 comes in the mail on Monday or Tuesday.Haven't tried Ninja Gaiden yet, but loving Prince of Persia and DMC4.

It's great that you can turn on/off the console with the controller. The SIXAXIS is a bit of a gimmick, but it's kinda neat still.
Devia Eleven
Not a bad catalog, I still haven't played Ninja Gaiden Sigma, although I do have Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Haven't played Prince of Persia, but have beaten DMC4, hence my review.

MGS4 is outstanding, the first game I purchased when I got my slim. Have you heard of any of the earlier RPGs for the PS3? Like Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3, or Demon Souls?
Agozer
Oh yes, I've definitely heard of them. Just don't have the financial means to get them at the moment. As far as Ninja Gaiden Sigma goes, it's definitely Nintendo Hard, but that's balanced by the fact that it is a damn fine ninja game.

P.S. Just lost to Berial in DMC4. Also, I don't quite understand how Exceed moves work. Too lazy to go to GameFAQs just for that.

Lost to Berial?!? huh.gif Slash at hm from the back, use the grab hand to grab to the top and do air combos. When the flame around its body dies out, grab him to see some awesome combos that deal a crap load of damages. DMC4 is fun but I can go through one time only biggrin.gif

You didn't get any of the newer games? But it seems like you have a lot of next-gen games to catch up smile.gif Go get Fallout 3 GOTY, Oblivion GOTY, Siren, RE5, AC2, GOW Collection.
Agozer
Yes, I know how to defeat Berial and what to do, I just happened to lose because I didn't dodge well enough. Geez, rip me a new one while your at it, why don't you. smile.gif

Like I said earlier, I don't have the money for newer games. I'll get some of them eventually, but not now. RE5 and Fallout 3 first, though. Plus, I don't think I'll bother with the GOW Collection, despite being in HD and all; it's enough that I already have the two games for one system.

Sigma 1 has been awesome for me so far. Though I miss the Nes original, that game didn't force you to learn combos sad.gif.

Yeah, it really take a while to get used to all the attack options the game gives you. Even though the game is hard, at least you can block almost any attack and then roll out of the way. Still, the number of enemies the game throws you at once plus that they attack often and unpredictably certainly makes playing difficult.

The first boss wasn't as hard as I expected it to be, but he can still mess you up bad if you're not careful.
2eyez
DMC4 - Set the combo to auto and smash button. I think it's a lot funner that way.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma - Very nice game and hard like y'all mentioned. I haven't beqt but did beat 2 for the 360.

I'd rather not resort to such cheap tactics in a game series like DMC. I'd much rather learn the quirks of the combat engine and deal with it my own way.

Berial is huge as a building and an equally huge-ass sword with ridiculous reach (and it's on fire to boot), so bleh. I'll rephrase: I suck at properly taking advantage of the "stretchy Devil Bringer arm" move which often gets Nero out of harms way.

It's easier to dodge in GoW because you can just flick the right stick.

P.S. I hate Berial's fire pillar move, even if it's an obvious throwback to the Phantom in DMC. Is it just me or is the move faster than Phantom's own? I'll get him eventually, just you wait.

P.P.S. It's a nice change that red orbs are only used to buy items.

EDIT: Yay, finally beat him and the next boss (that toad with "blue girlie lures"). Toad was much easier than Berial.
