Well I live near the DC area. It's a few hours away. Anyway, I've been talking to a few guys and one actually grew up there.

I wont get into why what Im saying has happened, but over time, DC has become a slum. This is where the white house is... but in the non secured areas, its a fucking wreck. It is practically a daily occurrence to hear gunshots. Which means, the President of the United States of America can hear gunshots on a regular basis...

WTF is that shit. I just find it ironic.

I thought anyone who doesn't know... mainly our non American friends here who might be unaware, might find that... interesting. So with this, I summon the anti gun members of the site lol.

But whatever you say, since guns are so common in the US, I damn sure want one. I can say that easily since I don't have a kid ( no child to accidently hurt or kill themselves ) I want a gun for the simple reason, that its stopping power, and I want to be able to protect my loved ones if shit does hit the fan. Shit is getting worse worldwide, but for us here in the states... somethings going to break. The U.S. dollar gets thinner and thinner, and it gets harder and harder to hold on to any. The less desirable of our citizens are becoming bolder and bolder, just ask Hera.
emsley
Your not alone grimster.

That is quite shocking.

The sad fact is if your country says "cool buy a gun." then that shit is going to happen, the gun been fired what you can hear wont be people having a "jolly good day out shooting some game" but assholes with drugs in their bodys in a nutshell the people who should not have guns have them.

The dollar is thin, the pound is a quarter pounder - "regular people" (as in poor) in england have nothing at the moment, those lucky enough to have a decent job are even in danger of losing them - everything is been hamstringed drained and tapped.
Our government is having to sell of huge assets worth 16 billion dollars to get through this damned recession.

I currently get 84 pound every two weeks or 132 USD.
My cupboards are nearly always emptie - Healthy food is hard to get a hold off so I take multi vitamins and eat best I can and exercise.
You dont see people in pubs no more, they are just empty, even on a weekend people who go to the pub take just enough for them selfs, guys i know who have had constant work just say "No money!" working in sporadic patterns like 1 week out of the month then back to the jobcentre to get their dole. (its all they can get construction trades are well paid jobs in england most guys do them who are not educated)

We have soaring energy costs anyone poor in england at the moment isnt just poor they are on the poverty line.

There is only one solloution to get a well paid job - and move to a god area.
Hard when thousands upon thousands of people accuire A-levels every year.
I said it before and Ill say it again dont come to england.
Shibathedog
Yeah that is pretty fucked up. I've heard that too. They even talk about it in a lot of rap songs lol.

My birthday is coming up. I've been debating buying myself an AK-47. I'm not really worried about home defense though I pretty much just want to go shoot shit at a gun range. In order to keep it safe I will probably just not have any bullets in the house. I will buy some before going to the range and then just use them all. Like I said to a friend, if someone DOES break in, and I point an AK-47 at them, they are going to know I am not fucking around and GTFO, I won't need bullets. (Plus if I did have bullets my neighbors would be pissed because it would easily penetrate into other apartments) Turns out AKs are cheap as hell (even cheaper than most hand guns) and you can legally own them if they install this plate thing to make it semi auto. I could even get a bayonet and just stab people with it who break in. I dunno about you but I would honestly rather be shot than stabbed.

I was thinking either an AK-47, Colt 1911, or some type of badass single action revolver. Glocks are probably cheap too although I haven't looked at them recently. What I'd REALLY like to get is a badass bolt action rifle with the biggest bullet affordable. But they are not cheap at all. I don't really want to spend more than a few hundred bucks here.

Close quarters combat calls for the old shotgun.

Cant you guys just get some CS-spray? Ive seen that shit put even the mot enraged men down in a single squirt.
Can you imagine pulling a gun on some meth head in your house?
Sure it will scare the shit out of them an in america burglers know they will be shot - but what if a burgler comes in armed?
Just ensure your entry points are like a fucking vault. big walls and a very secure gate to the back or side of the house. Mad though when its cheaper to buy a gun than improve walls and window locks.... Only in america.

I've never been to DC, but I have heard the stories. I think it's really more of a sad reflection of our country than a surprise. I mean, how many major cities can you really say are nice places that you'd want to live? Even Pittsburgh, which I live very close to is a hell hole despite being rated as "The Most Livable City in America". Sure, Downtown doesn't look THAT bad (if you ignore all of the hobos) but the surrounding towns are almost all ghettos which don't show any sign of getting better anytime soon. As a country, we need to rethink urban development.

Honestly, at least in terms of the financial situation things haven't really hit where I live yet. I'm gainfully employed and can look forward to a 4-digit pay check every two weeks and I also bought my first new car about 6 months ago. Unfortunately though, it is a frightening situation because we know it's going to hit at some point - it has to. The dollar is very weak and getting dumped as a reserve currency, our government is printing money out of control and credit lines have frozen. All of this in combination is going to hit this country like a ton of bricks.

The problem in America (and I'd be the first to say I'm guilty of it too) is that we're not willing to change our lifestyles. Despite this disaster, spending hasn't really slowed that much and our government knows it can't ask anyone to make any sacrifices. Instead, we're trying to maintain and unmaintainable level of debt and standard of living. The most frightening thing of all is that our government refuses to acknowledge the problem - according to them, we're almost out of this "recession." (like hell we are!)

The only job I have considered "learning" is IT.
You can earn up to 20 Pound an hour and the course only takes one year.
It's annoying though becasue its shit I allready know - piece of paper means everything.

Our government is predicting early next year for shit to get better here if's that's true why the fuck are they selling the channel tunnel.

Lets face facts - when the chips are down humans will tear each other apart and our leaders will be flown some place safe.

I would highly recommend the IT field, it pays well and doesn't require an enormous time commitment. You'd be surprised how far certifications and experience will get you in this field.

I don't see why any government (including mine) thinks this is going to get better. There are really no signs of recovery out there. I think this is a case of "if we convince the investors it's all ok, maybe they'll start using their money to prop up our failing companies again". If the worst should happen and this or any other country slips into another Great Depression, I am hopeful that people will remain civil and work through this like human beings instead of ripping each other apart like animals.

Well Id love to get a P90. But thats very impractical. Unless shit does hit the fan then yes, an assault rifle would be handy.

And a gunblade

LOL this would be nice too

Mount this somewhere

And this for the backyard

But Id just like a firearm. Clip based but a revolver isnt a bad choice either.

But anyway, yes things are getting worse. Were practically in another depression. The dollar isnt based on gold OR silver. They print up more and more. The banks are in controll. Im not saying go to a scialist society... but the rich are getting richer and the poorer poorer. There are so many things wrong in our society alone, where do you start. It's like a Jinga puzzle, pull a few blocks out and the whole thing falls.

Shit has yet to hit the fan, but it will. I can feel it. It may be some time, but how the hell can it get better as is? Not a damn thing is changing. Gas industry makes ridiculous amounts of profit. Why? I'll not get into political debates, but fuck this shit quite frankly.

Bah.

LOL Im off to go pickup my Fallout 3 GOTY. How ironic... LOL Honest... I didn't even make the connection until just now. The game in no way made me think of this topic! Wow thats is hilarious. For all that don't know, Fallout 3 takes place in a post apocalyptic Washington DC. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Personally, I would like to see a full gun ban in place in the US. I think our country would be a better place without them.

It'll never happen. There would be a civil war. It's in the constitution. Many would see it as treason on mass scale. I know if a ban were in place, therre would STILL be guns out there. Alot of guns. Alot. It would take FOREVER to get it down to where other countries might be at. Also... I don't want anyone taking away my right or ability to fight back.

But real quick, I hear rumors about America Canada and Mexico merging. If this were to happen, the constitution would be tossed out the window. I can see that scenario already, then there would be a civil war. Because if you did merge... there would be too many laws... they would have to standardize. I cannot see this working anyway. Canadians pay like 10% tax or something but dont have to worry about medical expenses or somesuch. That and I hear growing weed is ok. Is this true? I don't feel like Googling it... I want to make this brief, I have Fallout 3 GOTY installing as I speak. And Mexico... those poor bastards are poorer than us. Fuck... we have a hard enough time with the ones that are here... Unfortunately, I've seen very little good come from the right to bear arms. Most people who carry them are irresponsible and the few responsible people do carry them are usually in a situation where a gun would be of little to no use in defending them. The constitution is also a living document, amendments can be repealed with future amendments. The right to bear arms was instituted in a time when it was necessary to defend the country from an invasion from Brittan. Since that threat no longer exists, the amendment is no longer needed.

A North American Union? Between the US and Canada, I could see a lot of potential benefits (as well as obstacles). But with Mexico, it would essentially be a complete bail-out. I could see our three countries strengthening trade agreements, but an all out unification like that I think is really unlikely. The only way I could see that happening is if we really started going down the crapper, so unless our countries are forced into it by circumstance it ain't happening.

No... there are slums in every major city. Im not certain, but it stands to reason. There are always areas divided by "class". Ghettoes, Trailer Parks, Suburban & Ritzy are everywhere. Crime comes from everywhere, not just slums. But from what I understand... DC is baaaaaaaaaaad.

I agree with you mostly. The statistics in Canada are amazing. They do not have free gun reign therefor there are less murders there. Unfortunately, there's a part of me that doesn't want the ban. I'm a stay at home mom and a student. If some crazy runs in here with a weapon, all I have is knives, furniture and my fists. Not so good odds for me there. I hate guns but for my daughter, I might just have to get one.

After the stuff that happened with me, I wanted to get a shotgun. The only gun I've ever shot was a .22 and it was because I thought it was a toy. I've had issues with guns since. Plus, I have a kid. My father-in-law suggested getting a revolver as they're safer and easier to put away and access. I just don't know. I'd rather get some mace, a tazer and a staff.

The United States government is considering on joining the EU. Since Saudi Arabia sells their oil only by the euro, it makes it incredibly difficult for us here since we're the #1 consumers of oil and the dollar is piss. It's hurting us really bad.
Robert
How can the US join the EU? It isn't part of Europe. The US is certainly the number 1 consumer of oil, it uses approximately 3/4 of all the world's oil, and is in no hurry to do anything about that appalling figure.

As for guns, well I am anti-gun (well, it works here, most of us still have jobs, and it's safe to walk down the street), but I appreciate that US citizens are surrounded by guns, it's a part of life there, and guns will never go away. So, bigger is better!
AkihiroZi
If a ban on guns would actually take guns away from criminals, I would be all over it.

But that isn't the case at all. Weed is banned here, but anybody with a desire to smoke will find it without problem, in my eyes most smokers aren't criminals but to the police everyone doing so is offending the law. Same with a bunch of other drugs.

Besides, guns are cool biggrin.gif.

Well, in order to join the EU they have to complete the "United States of Europe" and it's looking like a very delicious concept to our leaders. In order for that to happen, our environmental policies need to change and they're taking some pretty big steps on getting that process in order.

Not gonna fuckin happen. Ask any Canadian born here this, and they'd tell you we'd die before this happened. I'd be the first one at the border with a rifle in hand.

I wouldn't like to see our countries merge either - I think there would be a lot of disadvantages there for everyone and I think each of our counties have a lot of issues that need to be worked out before anything like that would be viable. Regarding Mexico though, I would like to see an express path to citizenship implemented to fix the illegal immigration problem. The reason for that is simple, no matter what we do short of completely militarizing the border they will not stop coming over. The idea of trying to secure a border of that size reliably is idiotic. I would say in exchange for 2-4 years of service in our military or national guard, their families should be granted citizenship.
