This is some pretty powerful stuff.

That's pretty badass for algorithms.
Hera
woooooowwwww. That is amazing. I want it.
Inky
wait, it's going to be that easy to remove someone from a picture and put them in another one? New levels of LULz are going to be had!

I'm really impressed with how far Adobe has taken Photoshop over the years. I switched from Paint Shop Pro (when it used to be owned by JASC) to Photoshop around 7.0 and virtually every upgrade along the way has been worthwhile. I have to admit though, I would like to see some other editors step up their game and give Adobe some competition. For a while, it looked like JASC might have a true Photoshop competitor on their hands with Paint Shop Pro but then Corel bought them and ruined it like everything else they touch.
Agozer
Paint Shop Pro 9 is surprisingly decent and can do much of the same things Protoshop and Illustrator can, although some specific tasks force you to do tings in a much more complicated manner than you would in Photoshop or Illustrator.
The-Ice-Man
I still use Paint Shop Pro 7. Photoshop is too complicated for my brain. I've recently tried GIMP but when it comes down to it, I like my old Paint Shop.
VT-Vincent
PSP 7 was actually the last version I used as well. I liked it a lot, but it lacks a lot of the advanced features of Photoshop and I think that Photoshop's UI has a more optimal layout. If I'm not mistaken, the first version of Paint Shop Pro that Corel released was 10.0. They really didn't do much to improve it and they added some invasive DRM.

Which is partly why I'm sticking to PSP 9 and it's updates.

Definately a good reason. I'm not sure if you've considered moving into Photoshop or not, but one resource I would strongly recommend if you are would be Adobe's Classroom in a Book on the topic. Although it's mostly geared towards photograhy, it does a great job going over the basics of Photoshop and was a huge help for me to make the switch.
Shibathedog
You can find those photoshop books for very cheap used too. I had to buy a book like that for college and it was like 150 MSRP. I found one online used for like 10 bucks.
The-Ice-Man
If I have to read a book to use it, it's too complicated.
Weirdy
that is some crazy shit right there
Inky
is there a release date? I'm still on CS3. I was gonna update to CS4 but maybe I'll just wait.
VT-Vincent
I thought I saw mid-2010 somewhere. CS4 has been in production for a while now, so it's probably best to wait at this point.
Inky
6 months?! I think I'll go ahead and update. it's not like I pay for this stuff tongue.gif
Shibathedog
I heard they are getting pretty nuts about DRM, so be prepared for that. I'm still on CS2 and before that I was on 7 tongue.gif

You don't HAVE to read a book to use it, it's just an easy way of learning some of the more advanced features. Plus sometimes they show you cool little tricks where you wouldn't even think to use the suggested tool in that given situation.
VT-Vincent
I'm not too worried about the DRM - all of my software is actually purchased. When CS5 is officially announced, I'll probably pre-order Dreamweaver and Photoshop.
Shibathedog
That's worse though. When you pirate it they strip the DRM. When you buy it you have it installed. Even if I wanted to pay all that money I would still install a pirated version after buying.

Plus I heard with photoshop its even crazier than SecuROM, It supposedly modifies your MBR and some other crazy stuff.
The-Ice-Man
Another good reason to stick to my good old PSP 7.
Shibathedog
yeah but it doesn't do this new crazy stuff!!
VT-Vincent
I wish the DRM were a little less invasive, but it honestly doesn't bother me. It functions properly, doesn't prevent my use of the software I purchased and doesn't hinder my computer in any other way. The data that is written to the MBR is simply the activation status and it's written to this area so that other applications can't interfere with it and it can't be easily duplicated.
Shibathedog
What OS are you running though? I heard it can mess up your Vista activation, not sure about 7.
VT-Vincent
I ran it for quite a while on Vista x64, but when the 7 release candidate came out, I upgraded both my desktop and laptop to 7 x64. The only thing I find a bit annoying is having to remember to deactivate it before I reinstall the OS - if you forget, one of your two activations will not be available and you'll have to call Adobe to reactivate.

Works pretty damn well it seems.
