I was thinking to myself today and we had some of our best posting activity when we were using our white/orange skin back in 2003-2004. Could it be that dark skins put people in fear of posting more? Maybe it makes them feel tired, as the night has arisen, and the sun has gone down? I have definitely seen more members online than usual. Also, I noticed this computer I'm using can handle this new skin we have a lot better than the one we had before.
Perhaps it's just me and my silly observations... we shall see!

I didn't vote because I don't think it really matters.
but I do find that the lighter skin (not white) is easier on the eyes. a white skin is to bright, and the darker skins can tire my eyes out over time.

I would prefer a dark skin, but preferably not the one we had before. Ordinarily, I prefer dark skins on every forum I visit.
A bright skin actually encourages me not to post as often. I would also guess more people are online because 1Emu is back in action after a rather long hiatus.

I always use the default IPB skin... so the question is meaningless...

I would prefer an option over the two

.
But if you had to pick, light skins are harder on the eyes but visually appealing. Dark skins are easy on the eyes but look....
Anyways, I voted light.

I've always preferred dark skins but an option for either is always better for a better user experience.

Hmm, dark seems better for me, though I wasn't active that much here recently

You know if you didn't read the topic of this thread it would be very interesting just reading the posts...
And I don't care about forum color.

While I universally prefer dark skins, now that I've had to put up with this lighter version for while now, it's rally nice.
Whether or not a lighter skin actually makes people want to post more, who knows. Perhaps some are more susceptible to the psychology and metal angle of colors, tones and such.

the white and blue together make me sleepy........

I voted No. Light skins do NOT make me post more.
I miss the last skin, but... Is it posable to have a good amount of skins? That way there are choices?

I find things harder to read on this new skin. The old one made things much more readable somehow.

The white font on a black background was easier to read

Agreed.
On 2Emulation I was killing the boards, that skin contributed to the overall reason why.

I would say its the "annoying wife went on a vacation for a month' theory.
You have her every single night and she sometimes is just "ehhh" but when she gone, you get the hankering and now that she's finally back, even if she looks a little different--- you just...destroy her(Family Guy reference)!
So i think the hiatus had something to do with it.

I'm a dark soul, so a dark skin would more fit my posting behavior.

I think a light version is somewhat better - but this skin does not look as cool as the last one.

More like GC, Miskie and [probably, probably not] Gryph are leet with this shit. The rest of us are waiting for some signs of life from GC.

I dont think Gryph can handle MYSQL he is pretty good with forums though GC can probably handle it and I know miskie is really good with that stuff. I know a guy who can handle this stuff but GC only works with those he can trust.

I don't know how to do any of this. I could maybe install a skin since it's mostly automated but I wouldn't know how to work with any of the modifications to it. If I knew how to do it then it would be done already. :/

I'm odd..but I think that maybe a green-ish shade would be good as a background. Text color doesn't really matter to me. The white is a bit bothersome to my eyes.

Bump, If you want something that stand out compared to other forums, perhaps a change of font would be nice. 14pt Times New Roman, easy on the eyes huh?

Times New Roman is what I always used for essays. Not a good font for a forum.

Times New Roman is not a good font for websites, either. You generally want a sans serif font, and Times New Roman doesn't fit the bill.
As for layouts, I've grown to like light ones more over the years. They don't rape my eyes nearly as much as dark ones do.
