Bannerbomb is an exploit capable of launching homebrew from any version of the System Menu. It was created to replace the Twilight Hack, which does not work on System Menu 4.0
Read more and download it from here ->

nice, no need for a specific game to get it going huh? I'll finally mod my wii.
will this allow backups or only homebrew?
EDIT: never mind found my answer. looks like I have a project this weekend!

Hmm, I just bought a brand new Wii a month or two ago that came with system menu/firmware 4.0, and was successfully able to enable my Wii for homebrew with the Twilight hack and successfully downgrade to 3.2.

I have some reading to do.
Things to attempt to do with this.
Play some Wii games that desperatly need playing (Madworld, House of the Dead, etc...).
I wonder if you can inject a different ROM into a already downloaded one, and set off the emulator to run the new one? If you can do that then I know I'm downloading a bunch of N64 Rom's and SNES ones. Same goes for NES.
That's pretty much it, I'm interested in playing the games, not doing anything technical programy like.

well I installed it, and the homebrew channel, along with some other things we can't talk about here. currently waiting on some backups to be "backed up" so I can test.

Has anyone heard about the USB Loader that is able to run games at a stable framerate from an external HDD?
It's got me excited, the GUI is sexy too.

last I'd heard about that it had a bad framerate. did they get it running at correct framerates now?
and to any Mod I put together a little package of the needed files. is it ok to post it here or in spam perhaps?

If there's no copyrighted material you are free to post it here.

so it worked for you solidius? I still haven't got to test it yet. how did you fix your error just in case I come across the same one. I should be able to test it in the morning. My PC has been acting retarded all day.
I looked a bit into the usb iso loader and the only downer for me is your usb drive has to be formatted to the wii file system. I am not formatting my back up drive for that. maybe I can partition the drive and format a small portion to test.
Robert. I don't think it contains any copyrighted material. it's basically just the bannerbomb, correct cIOS, (I'm not sure if the cIOS is derived from Nintendo code.) dvd loader and backup loader. all in the correct file tree. after I've tested it to make sure it works correctly I need to write a proper readme outlining the steps.

I found error #002 can be fixed by updating to cIOS36rev9
no patching needed on madworld so far.
I'm looking for updates to all the programs needed before I put to gether a proper pack for upload.

Thanks for the headsup Robert will look into this as a friend had asked me about getting the wii modded.

OK here is the package I put together
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=4b5d7a9...04e75f6e8ebb871extract it to a formated sd card.
put the sd card in your wii. this is the part I am fuzzy on, I don't remember if it automatically asked me to run boot.dol or if I had to go into the options/data management/sd card.
when it asks to run boot.dol say yes.
you now have the homebrew channel. open that up next.
from the homebrew channel sellect cIOS36rev10 and choose wad install.
restart.
back to the homebrew channel. now select the DVDx and install that.
finally in the homebrew channel select wadmanager 1.3 from there choose which loader you need I used the regionfrii one. push the + button to select it then it will prompt you to press A. don't select a wad that starts with "._" those are backups or something.
thats it. put your back up in, go to the loader channel and press load. check the options and change the hook type to default if need be.
now you can delete everything on the sd card. keep the apps folder. that is where you will place any emulators or other homebrew you want to load from the homebrew channel.
I've tested this method with 5 different games, from older to the latest. NTSC and JAP. I have not tested a pal game on my NTSC system yet.

Has anybody tried a PAL game on their NTSC Wii yet?
I tried it for Sonic / Mario Olympic games, (I got a PAL), the game loads up, gets to the title menu, then it says "Wii can't read game, read instruction manual".
Is that because of the PAL or something else?

did you install the regionfrii version of gamma loader?

May 24 2009, 11:54 AM
Inky... or someone else who knows... How is it? How is the framerate?
Inky
May 24 2009, 12:06 PM
it seems the same to me. the only slow down I have seen was with Mario Galaxy during the opening cut scene it was stuttering. but I don't know if that is due to the mod or maybe a suspect disc or bad burn. play wise its great.

oh. I havent read the readme yet. But... do you need a game to do this, like using an exploit? just curious. I'll be getting the hell ofta dodge, and soon enough there will be a wii in my grispers. I hope they let me mod theirs. Any risk? Bricking or whatever. I mean I couuuuuuuuuuuuld read the material. But.... nahhh.
Inky
May 24 2009, 12:26 PM
no game needed to do the mod.
as for risk of bricking I guess there is always a risk but I haven't heard of anything.

Yes sir, that was my first attempt, then I went ahead and tried all the different regions that you included in the file. Other than that, the only other thing for me to try are DVD-'s, before I had updated the booksetting of a DVD+ to that. The only game I've manage to get to work using DVD+'s is the Legend Of Zelda Four Swords using a GC Loader (that took a while to find).
