I'd like your thoughts on this season of TUF. I felt all the fighters this season were pretty lame and there was no interesting personalities there was no Leben, or Grove this season. just a bunch of guys who weren't very good fighters.

I think people were more interested in Rampage/Forrest to be honest. The contestants were secondary and not as important. But honestly I am VERY impressed with Amir, that guy has had no pro fights and he is not the new ultimate fighter season winner, very impressive.

To be honest I have never been to crazy about TUF, it pushes back and prolongs mega fights like Rampage vs Forrest and next seasons Nog vs Frank Mir. I think it;s BS that we have to wait and suffer through all this hype. If they are both healthy they should just fight.
Inky
but don't you think Amir is gonna be in for a rude awakening when he faces a decent fighter? CB was all wrestle/ground and pound. with zero jitz defense.
I just feel the caliber of fighter is way down this season. I actually like TUF when there are decent fighters with some personality.

Well he is still young and growing as fighter, I think he has tremendous potential. smile.gif
I honestly think he needs to move down to 170.

lol the beginning of that vid reminds me of the karate kid.
Machida is a great fighter, but I find his fights a little boring, prolly because he is so good that he rarely gets hit or engages in brawls. heheh.
the end of that vid also reminds me, why the hell has Tito gone away from the ground and pound? thats his bread and butter but he has avoided it his last few fights (all losses, coincidence? I think not)

A lot of it has to do with him not being able to take the fight to the ground. And even if he does manage to get it to the ground he can't kept it there, fighters are just to well rounded and conditioned now.
Salorskin
Michida had real good fights with Nakamura and Sokoudjou - I think it depends on how hard he's pressured by his opponent which is something no one wants to do. What I thought was hilarious was how Tito was like, "I came here to fight!" and he had the safest strategy, ever!

This weekend...
Rampage/Forrest...
Who wins?
Salorskin
Rampage is going to steal his soul... hahaha nah, but Rampage ftw
Inky
yeah I'm taking rampage as well. Forrest is a tough sob no doubt but rampage has too much skill and experience.

Best Keith Jardine Highlight...
Inky
WTF?
Salorskin
Good fight... and I underestimated Griffin. Such a close match, that's for sure.
Fatal Rose
Yeah Forest fought great. Totally outsmarted Rampage and took out his left leg with vicious leg kicks.
Can't wait to see Forrest/Machida go at it.
Inky
I don't think forrest will be holding the belt for long. He surprised me with Rampage but I think rampage underestimated him. in a rematch he would not make the same mistake. with Anderson Silva entering the 205 class, they all have new worries in my opinion.

Well that and people need to stop avoiding a fight with Machida.
Salorskin
I actually wouldn't mind if Forrest held the belt for a while... he's a good guy. I definitely don't want to see Chuck as title holder again hahaha
Inky
yeah forrest is a good guy, always has exciting fights. but He's not a finisher. if rampage gets a rematch he'll get it back. if machida gets a shot he'll take it. one thing is Dana likes the idea of his first ultimate fighter being the champ so forrest might get some chump fights first to drum up publicity. plus whats anderson silva gonna be like at 205? if his chin is up to the power in the 205 division then I doubt anyone can stop him.
Salorskin
Rumor has it that if Chuck can get past Rashad Evans then he's going to get a huge money-making title shot.
Fatal Rose
Machida is supposedly fighting Thiago Silva next. If he can get back Thiago, UFC HAS to give him a title shot if they want to maintain credibility.

I don't think chuck is gonna get past rashad. since his string of losses he's not the same. rashad is on his way up. chuck is on his way to where ever tito is now lol.

First post edited.

Rumor is Lyoto is either fighting Thiago Silva or Quinton Jackson next.
Inky
doesn't look like Rampage will be getting a rematch anytime soon
from TMZ:
QUOTE
As TMZ first reported, the just-defeated UFC champ was busted this afternoon for alleged felony hit and run. Now we have the details -- and they're insane! Rampage was on the 55 Freeway in the O.C., hit two cars and got off the freeway. The chase was on.

Rampage then began driving on the center divider. But it gets worse. According to the police report, Jackson then drove on the sidewalk, "causing pedestrians to flee for their lives." He started driving the wrong way on a crowded street, colliding with yet another car in an intersection. As he continued on, running several red lights, his tire disintegrated and he began driving on the rim.

Rampage eventually got to the exclusive Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, where he again drove on the sidewalk, "causing pedestrians to flee in terror."

Eventually, his car came to a stop and he was taken into custody at gunpoint. Cops took him to the Orange County Jail, but they determined he was "medically unfit" to be booked. Cops won't say if he was high.

Rampage is currently in an O.C. hospital.

Yeah I read that over at Sherdog.com
Looks like Lyoto will for sure be fighting Page.

The Return of The Dragon – Machida vs Silva at UFC 89
Unbeaten light heavyweight sensation Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida will look to keep the momentum going from his May victory over Tito Ortiz when he returns to the Octagon to face fellow unbeaten (and fellow Brazilian) Thiago Silva in what should be an explosive clash on October 18th’s UFC 89 card at The National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England. Tickets are on sale now, but are going fast!
- UFC.com

Wow this is a HUGE match up with huge title implications.

Thiago Career highlight:

His most recent fight!

Lyoto Machida Highlight:

Both fighters are undefeated with a perfect record of 13 - 0
This is going to be a awesome fight.

Affliction card was STELLAR!
Last three fights were off the HOOK!
Inky
I haven't gotten affliction yet. I forgot to download it. :\
UFC Fight night was pretty bad. I ended up fast forwarding through most of it. I was glad to see Irvin get knocked the flock out though.
fatal do you know anywhere that streams fights. someplace I could watch affliction and others online?
Fatal Rose
Yeah I think. Let me look into it.
Inky
found one.

Fatal Rose
Heath Herring vs Brock Lesner
Ken Florian vs Roger Huerta
GSP vs Jon Fitch

Those were my picks before I saw the event.

Let me know when you have seen it.
Krosigrim
I've missed way too much too be able to make an informed decision...

Didn't Lesner get his ass whipped last time he fought?
Inky
yeah but that was against a good submission guy, former champ frank Mir. and he was beating him up pretty good before he got caught.
I haven't watched yet, will grab it off torrents tomorrow unless I see it streaming online tonight

I couldn't bear it so I checked the results. nice predictions ryan.
I was sure Herring was gonna smack Brock around...... to bad. I really like Herring I don't know why.

well in advance I am calling Chris Leban over Mike Bisping by T/KO. Bisping is over due for a reality check and Leban is just the guy to give it to him. an Iron jaw and dangerous under pressure.
overall UFC 89 looks like a great card, better then the last few IMO.

Anyone see the fights on Saturday?
Inky
I totally forgot, I'll grab the torrent in the morning.
the Pallegrino T. Alvez fight is available to watch on UFC.com.
Inky
Liddell got KTFOed... lol. sorry iceman fans but he's not what he used to be. 3 losses in the last 4 fights, Dana would have other fighters packing their bags and heading to a lesser promotion.

Couture vs Lesner. Thoughts?

Sad News via TMZ
QUOTE
TMZ has learned former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner is missing in the California desert. And we're told a body has been found in the area where rescue workers were searching.

Law enforcement tells us the 37-year-old went out into the desert near San Diego last Friday. That same day, Tanner sent a text message to a friend that he was out of water and needed help. There was a massive search that ended abruptly yesterday.

As for the body that was discovered, cops have not yet identified the remains.

Tanner blogged last month he was going to the desert because of his friends talking about "treasure hunting and lost gold, and my own insatiable appetite for adventure and exploration." Tanner continued, "I plan on going so deep into the desert, that any failure of my equipment could cost me my life."

Tanner was featured on Spike TV's, "The Ultimate Fighter." He lost his last bout in June at the Ultimate Fighter 7 finale.

UPDATE: The body has been identified -- Evan Tanner is dead at 37. According to UFC.com, the cause of death is still undetermined.

sad news indeed, Tanner was an exciting fighter and I always enjoyed his fights,
Fatal Rose
I was very saddened about this news. I actually have the pleasure of exchanging a few messages with Tanner on myspace about life and what not. Can't believe he is gone...

Iceman: Well I have always felt he was a bit overrated to be honest, I also feel that Evans fought a picture perfect gameplan. Greg Jackson is a genius.
Inky
Huston Alexander has been exposed! My MMA watching friends have been on the alexander bandwagon all along, saying the flash knockout was a bad call and whatnot, how he was unstoppable, the mike tyson of MMA... well Like Kimbo and brian stann, he has zero ground game. if you can't work on the ground you have no business in an MMA fight. period. these guys should be boxers.
Fatal Rose
If you noticed he was using pure strength to defend the takedowns, no technique and not much of a sprawl. He needs to switch gyms maybe. Change his training.
Inky
yeah he needs to go in and train 100% wrestling and jitz, his boxing is there, but with no ground game and no takedown and jitz defense he has no business in the UFC. he looked completely lost on his back.
Inky
Kimbo Slice Vs. Seth Petruzelli
Kimbo lost in 14 seconds KTFO
Fatal Rose
Because Kimbo sucks.
