well I did it, impulse buy on a PSP with 3.90 m33-5. so its time for the customary emulator suggestions. I am gonna pick up a 2gb card do you think that is big enough for a few games and emulators? last time I had a psp I only had a 512 card and it seemed fine.
L.S.D
Well, if you intend to put every CPS1, CPS2 and Neo Geo roms into the MSPD, nope. That still does not include GBA roms, SNES roms etc etc. And new games like GOW and CC:FVII are around 1.7GB. So, yeah, 2GB is not enough tongue.gif
Inky
I don't want to carry around full romsets. just what I like. I'll look into a 4 or 8gb card but here in the states they are way expensive and shipping from china is a nightmare. where is the best place to get the emulators now? I don't have any of my links anymore.
Devia Eleven
One thing you can do is just have PSP games on your card for the time being until you complete the game. Then just delete it.
BlackKnight
Crisis Core, God of War and a few others push 1.2-1.5GB even when CSO'ed. You're best of with a 4GB or even an 8GB if you spot a good deal anywhere.
Mooney
First: I sure hope it doesn't have 3.90 M33-5 on it.

Second: Best place to get emulators is still Google. I'd recommend Daedalus r13 (N64), gpSP kai 32 test 8 (GBA), PSP MAME4ALL v4.9r2 Hires, RIN 1.32 RM (GB/GBC), CPS1PSP/CPS2PSP/MVSPSP/NCDZPSP v2.2.5, PicoDrive 1.40b (Genesis), Snes9xTYL v0.4.2 ME (SNES), NesterJ for PSP v1.20beta2 (NES), and pspkvm 0.3.2 (J2ME).

yeah it does..... whats wrong with it? unsure.gif
BlackKnight
So far there is only a 3.90 M33-3. There is no official -4, or -5 version.
Devia Eleven
Hasn't a 4.0 version come out?
BlackKnight
Official Sony firmware is currently only at 3.95 with nothing significant but Internet Radio being added since 3.90.

So no, no 4.0 yet.
Inky
came in the mail today! its CFW 3.80 m33-5. so I was wrong on the version. should I upgrade to 3.90m33? or leave it as is. I heard the custom firmware can be upgraded with the wifi system upgrade thingy? I bit the bullet and got a 4gb ms.
so I need game suggestions, I already have Patapon, Echochrome, SFA3, FFVII:CC and GOW.
BlackKnight
You can upgrade to 3.90 if you want. No big arguments for or against it. To use the Network Update feature just select it from the PSP Menu (XMB) and follow the prompts. Keep the AC plugged in and there's little to no risk.

I take a pass on all fps on PSP. I never could get the hang of FPS with one analog stick (yep that includes N64 and DC.)
anyways I got this mostly for emulation so best versions of SNES, GBA GEN, ect please!
BlackKnight
SNES9xTYL 0.4.2 ME
PicoDrive 0.40b
CPS2PSP
MVS2PSP
Inky
Ok following the readme with Gba whatever it says put the folder in psp/150 I did that, added the bios and some roms but it won't load. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong... this stuff was so easy back in the 1.5 days.
L.S.D
I remember there is an emulator for GBA called uoGBAsp. Can't remember the exact name but it worked well for me.

Most emulators now can be put in the GAME folder and run from there. Try that, Inky.

No PSX emulation?

maybe if it works well and isn't rocket science to set up. not much on psx I haven't played that I want to try.
Inky
finally figured it out, I had tried placing emulators in psp/game psp/game150 and psp/game380. but it turns out I had to install a kernal 1.5 patch. thats done and now snes gba and cps2 are working! I don't like having to convert all the cps2 roms and basically having 2 sets on my MS. so I'll prolly skip cps2 for now, snes and gba is rocking though. Haven't set up genesis or anything else yet.

It works perfectly and requires only a simple converter (You'll need a certain 'base.pbp'... best not ask for that here) to turn your PSX ISOs into PSP EBOOTs.
Inky
the psx thing is gah inducing. I got FFviii working fine. But Persona and persona 2 come up as corrupt data. I've tried it with no compression, full compression, and middle compression. and with and with out keys.bin in the folder.
BlackKnight
What format are the Persona 1 & 2 ISOs you're trying to convert?
Inky
they were in .ecm, i reconverted them to .bin using unecm and used psx2psp1.4 to convert to psp.
I think it is due to the ecm compression, I'm trying to find some with out it.
megaman_zer0
check the folder name and remove all spaces and "_". happned to me once
BlackKnight
Also try to keep the name short- less than 10 characters.
Inky
tried it with a few different iso's Ive found and still no love. does the psp conversion need an icon, background and all that other stuff to work?
BlackKnight
That is usually copied over from the BASE.PBP if you don't specify one yourself.
