Ugh. Neowave is horrible.

King of Fighters XI or 2002.

Well...

I put a lot of attention on the Character Design... and that's why it got worse from KOF 2000 and up... I like Kof 99 char design... as well there are many kyo versions to play with lol.... However, I learned to play KOF with the 98 version.. so.. I'm between 97 - 98 - 99 ...

Now.... It's quite interesting to see the female characters on the 3D version,,, lol!

99 will be my favorite one forever
Inky
Never really liked KoF. but 99 and 2001 were the most enjoyable to me.
BlackKnight
XI or 2003. 2003 was rubbish, but I liked the systems and enjoyed it more than most other installments.
fumanchu
ive got all the versions of king of fighters and for whatever reason i just seem to enjoy playing neowave the best, dunno why.most people seem to say kof98 is the best.

Isn't Neowave just 2002 re-wrapped in Geese?

Theres a change log somewhere, because most of the characters don't play like their 2k2 counterparts. Personally, 98 and 2k2 are the best KOF games. I never like Neowave that much for a couple of reasons (One of which is some of my favorite characters going down).
Darken
I go with king of fighters games in 98 to 2000 .. some to 2001
98 the game start the real deal.
99 the best one ,Best characters , Best system.
2000 Strike system is great but the Hyber move system suck.
2001 .... I don't like the system at all. bad graphics and stages ... crazy boss.
2002 bad in overall ... the only good thing is Rugal XD
2003 = (2002 X 10 ) .... only adel ^^
SpeeD!
94!

J/K. I'm Gonna Say '99 But I Like '98.
Sybarite Paladin AxL
most favorite (not in any particular order)
'98 for the old school classic KoF feel. Greatness
2k for the roster and freshness
2k2 because it's just great

least favorite:
'97
'99
Neowave (PS2 version has 3D backgrounds, I hate that. and the music is crappy)

I haven't played XI enough yet, my PS2's collecting dust. And I have mixed feelings about the new system. This goes for 2k3 too. Also 2k3 screwed up some commands to make them look like in CVS2, and I hate CVS2.

And even though it's not KoF, Neo Geo Battle Coliseum is one of my most favorite SNK games.

neogeo battle coliseum is brilliant, got it on the ps2 but i still like cvs2 on the dreamcast better.
if only we could get naomi emulation and atomiswave,i like all the ports of these games but you cant beat the real thing.

NGBC will always surpass any CVS. Although I did change my opinion about CVS2 the last couple of days. It's nice but nothing special in the end.

Also I'm playing 97 right now and it's actually better than I remembered. Certainly not my least favorite anymore. That's 99 atm.

Also if you have a chance, give the fan-made MUGEN KoF Zillion a spin. It's actually nice quality biggrin.gif

Just unrar the game and play biggrin.gif. This is the latest version so far.

Main highlights:
*2D Alba Meiraa
*Another Iori fully playable
*Stupidly hard and challenging Ai (does not read your inputs to know how to fight you) but tends to repeat itself.
*A lot of fighters have an EX version. Just select them normally while holding down Start. Also some characters have a second EX version.
To get it, select the character normally. Then, during the load time between fights, hold down the Start and Down buttons simultaneously.
*Mizuchi and Orochi in the same game.
*Many characters have been edited so that they look somewhat better than compared to the olden games. For instance, Orochi and Igniz have a crouch animation.
*Many great custom characters smile.gif
*A lot of other great stuff.

The only downside is that mine exits randomly, but that's just my computer that needs a format. smile.gif

the one I liked the best is kof96, then I dunno, 2k1 was pretty good and I liked kof 97 a lot too what I really hate about games after kof 2k is the artwork, I am really picky about that I guess but they look like pokemon spawns heh, anyway to me the kof fighting series is the best one ever released to date
Elazul Yagami
