Ok so i FINALLY got me an UNPATCHED version of GTA:LCS. I downloaded the Downgrader and im ready to downgrade. Before i do this, is there anything i should know to help avoid bricking my PSP??
BlackKnight
Just make sure you have the right downgrader. Otherwise cross your fingers and hope for the best smile.gif.

My personal paranoid advice would be to go and turn all the power saving / screen saving features off, and keep the UMD drive door open while you do the downgrading as well. And yeh don't accidentally touch the power button at any time during the flashing.

It's all pretty basic stuff though- you should be fine.
Mooney
Keep the charger in and don't let your hands get sweaty! tongue.gif
BlackKnight
Oh yeh, and keep the charger plugged in tongue.gif.
Kloplop321
keep the battery over 80% and hope there are no power outs wink.gif

uh, to be safe, put it on a flat table, not in your pocket
only use 1 finger at a time with it
don't "accidentally" drop a hammer on it
don't let a dog or a cat touch it
don't sneeze on it
don't flush it while downgrading
don't expose it to any liquids(including urine)
Don't worry, Be Happy wink.gif

taking your advice for 3.51 M33-2?

But i have no clue what im doing right now. How will i be able to play the PSP games. And i have ISO files and a couple of CSO files, Whats the difference?
BlackKnight
CSOs are compressed but otherwise no difference. For a handful of games that will make make them load longer or lag but I use them anyway.

For any CFW, just make a folder at the memory stick root called ISO\ and put the files in there. They'll show up under Game > Memory Stick on the XMB. From there on let the good times roll.

Thanx, How is PSX Emulation?? Which other Emulators Run at 100% if any?
BlackKnight
PS1 Emulation is mostly flawless. You don't use an emulator for that though... you just package PS1 ISOs into a PSP format.

Other emulators? NES, Master System, Turbografx etc all run 100% at 222mhz. CPS1, CPS2 and NeoGeo run 100% at 333mhz. Mega Drive and SNES are close but not quite 100%. MAME... don't even go there. PSP MAMEs suck.
GodPigeon
Great man, Thanx a Million. I Upgraded to 3.51 M33 Safely =]
one More question, can i delete all these files i used to install the CFW or do they have to stay??
BlackKnight
No problem. They can go once you're done.

Congrats on hacking the PSP! Try out Silent Hill Origins if you're into that kind of thing. I'm quite liking it.
GodPigeon
Once again, Thank you For helping me out here. I already got PSP ISOs working just fine. Now i will invest in a 4GB Mem stick =]

And i will check out that Silent hill. Any other game suggestions?

Actually, I've really enjoyed PSP MAME4ALL v4.9r1 Hires. It's a port of GP2x MAME v4.9, which is based on MAME 0.34. Not too fancy, I know. but it plays whole lot of classics.

Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow and GRAW 2 are some of my favorites.

Oh, and you might want to update to 3.52 M33 or 3.71 M33. Some newer games (Spiderman 3, Manhunt 2) require 3.52 or higher.

Get a 8GB memory stick, it will fill up fast
Kloplop321
PSX emulation is Perfect, all you need is to include the plugin on boot(requires a CFW) called POPSLoader, just google "M33 PopsLoader"

Doesn't hombrew and stuff that requires the 1.50 kernel to run not work with the 8gb stick?
Kloplop321
I don't use the 1.5 kernel, I just use the 3.71 one, works fine for everything I have tested exept for PSPRadio, which only works on a specific firmware...*wishes that the person made it so it would at least be current! Not 2.7X!*

But there are some things you will need that kernel for. Those things can't go past 4gb sticks.
Kloplop321
oh rly?
I have only a 4gb stick, but I don't see how an 8gig would cause any problems.

It's to do with the file system. 1.50 only supports FAT16 or something like that which only supports a maximum file size of 4gb. Give or take.

8gb stick costs way too much
Kloplop321
SO true. I don't see why flash memory in general now costs so much, the raw materials are worthless at a single unit or even 100
BlackKnight
The materials aren't as cheap as you think and neither is the complicated fabrication process.
