Wasn't quite sure the best place to put this, figured I'd put in it general console. Was there ever a big series of games that came out that were hugely popular that did nothing for you? for example-If you hate the pokemon games. Personally I never really cared about Tomb Raider. Just never interested me.

I was, and still am a Tomb raider fan. However, I suck tremendously at the old TR games, so I've never finished any of those. The bad reviews for Angel of Darkness and the few oddball TR games before it distance me from the series. I've started playing again now that Legend and Anniversary are out.

To stay on topic, I never got into Pokémon or Super Smash Bros. Not to impy that those are bad games, I just never understood the hype (or then I didn't have enough friends to play SSB with)

I've never gotten into any sports games made by EA. I seldom play a few matches with a friend of mine, but that's it. Granted, playing the games is much more fun than sitting at home spending several hours watching a match on TV.

I think tomb raider was made for the guys. well i guess most games were! when it comes to pokemon or those other monster games, the shows were cute the cards will be worth a lot of money but the games were boring and dull. even the new games graphics are primitive.

Zelda games

I think that was the style of the game, you could argue the graphics in Rez suck, but they don't.

I could probably think of a bunch more, Alot of street fighter games are really overrated in my opinion. I mean they where cool for their time but I don't understand why someone would consider Street Fighter 2 their fighter of choice anymore when its so dated and has many far better sequels in every way possible.

The star wars games for the super nes were cool, but all the others have disappointed me.

I mostly don't care about sports games, either though. The last one I really enjoyed was super baseball 2020. ( Aside from the mutant league games.)

Oh and I believe the direction of this topic was SERIES', not individual games. I'd have to say Halo. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing them.....but MEH.
They're not groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination, the only thing that could even be construed as "great" when it comes to Halo is that it's one of the better handling console FPS'.

I used to also hate Metal Gear just because of the hype. I gave the first one the benefit of the doubt about 4 years after its release and it changed my mind.

I'll put my chips in on that too, though I have to admit I enjoyed HL2. Previous to that however, I thought the games were horrible. Was a Rainbow Six player then.

Well the way I see it, the other companies are selling their expensive hardware for less than it costs them to manufacture it.

The Wii is a bunch of old tech that Nintendo is selling for more than it costs them to make it. So yeh I think it is overpriced, considering how the competition is taking a hit on each unit sold. Wii isn't as much as the other systems, but I still think its too expensive (at least here anyway) considering you're getting 2 Gamecubes ducted together and and a cheap peripheral for almost $400AUD.

In contrast to to Mr. G, I can invest dozens of hours in a good JRPG (and my PS2 game catalog consists mostly of JRPGs), yet I'm having trouble getting into any western RPG (Diablo being the sole exception).

I need to get my hands on Baldur's Gate II and see myself what the fuzz is about.

Put it this way, i feel about half life, the same way Reaper Man Feels about Halo. Overhyped for NO reason. And when i play, its nothing special. In fact Halo>Half Life IMO

As for Half-Life, I never really liked the first one too much, But I assumed that was because I never really had a PC decent enough to play it. and playing it after i played HL2 was kind of strange, I pretty much only did it to fill in the plot holes.

I can see how people really liked it, I just missed out on the experience (So I'm assuming, if it weren't for the fantastic sequel I'm sure I would have dismissed it as crap)

Zelda, Is not crap, I love Zelda, I like Metal Gear games too, Extremely easy to make fun of because they do get a little ridiculous at times, but still fantastic (The 4th one is starting to look reallllly weird though, still shitting my pants over it anyway however)

Metroid, I stand my ground on, Every game is the same stupid ass thing, You crash land on a planet, find these metroid things, waste tons of times going through the same rooms and obstacles over and over again until you get your powers back, and then kill the final boss.

The NES one, Crap, the SNES one, Pretty damn good, They took everything that was wrong with the NES one, fixed it, and made a damn fun game, After that it was just ridiculous, Especially those piece of crap Gamecube ones, the puzzles where just so flocking stupid, and it was so boring, and the controls so bad. I can't even give the series a chance anymore, they just flock up with every release.

I pretty much agree with the rest of the topic though. (Assuming when you say Half-Life you mean the first one, By the time I got a PC good enough to play that crap I was too busy with Quake ) The only real problem I have with HL2 is the weapons, Its one of those games where no matter what weapon your using it seems too crappy. Minus the gravity gun of course. But the rest of the game is so fantastic I can overlook it.

Metroid is repetative. I agree with that. Zelda rox. I never thought about the nes>snes thing, but you're right. I'm confounded by nintendo. I feel like they partially dropped the ball. (Don't get mad, Wii people) I have feelings of ambivalence towards halo. Good "Party" games, but....meh

I wasn't ever really for Half-Life/Counterstrike, mostly because I was not good at the games. They just seemed like two ordinary First Person shooter to me.

I think that people over hype Guitar Hero far too much, I suck at that game as well, but people make it seem like Guitar Hero is the only reason for living, and that anything else in life is not important except that game.

WoW, this game was not that good. City of Heroes was much better, I don't understand how this game could take custody over a person's life, the game wasn't amazing, it was just another MMORPG to me.

Damn this game is hyped.. I just don't see it. The narrative is flaky and boring... the places look good but the almost comical production style doesn't speak to me...

Most of all though the shooting just isn't fun. None of the guns are satisfying to fire and most of the plasmid effects look cheesy. Running around shooting the same ugly looking splicers and killing yourself taking down Rosies is no fun to me. I gave this game a fair shot and let me just say I hate it.

I don't know if anyone remembers these games. Boring, bad game play, imo a piece of junk.

They've always been overrated by it wasn't until DMC4 that the hype really hit that wall. I was expecting something completely revolutionary for the way this game was talked up.

I never relay liked the sports games except wii sports.

Games that did nothing for me - GT Prologue, Socom Confrontations, Farcry 2 (that sh** put me straight to sleep) and the entire mario party series, NFS ProStreet (I would have alot more excitement trying to recover my 360 from the RROD)

I also agree about DMC4 "overly" hyped, it's the only one i didn't finish.

Call of duty games - the ones by infinity ward are fine. Everything else sucks.
