Attached below is a test version of DS2Key. This version is similar to 0.3 except I've used the wifi_lib version 0.3 which means it has DHCP, WEP, etc. Hopefully in a day or two I get a test version of the server made, I'll update here until I'm ready to release a completed version.

For now, those of you that want to test, please tell me of your troubles getting this version to work. Tell me if anything is working better or worse then in previous versions. Also feel free to contact me privately.

Edit:
I finished a pc server similar to the 0.11 (its console based), except it has mouse support.

Edit #2:
Added support for multiple DS Clients for one Server. Depends on profiles, which are named DS2Key.p#.ini, and the port # is stored in DS2Key.ini. Since everything is in a.ini file you don't need to run the.bat file, just the.exe.

ooh, testing testing, love to be testing

I did a quick run of Beta 1 with VBA and it ran great. I use WEP on my network and it didn't slow it down at all. I used my Nintendo WFC settings and it accessed the DHCP server just fine. The only problem i found was that it would load up the IP of the DS into the client software instead of the host PC, but I'd assume that this was planned. I'll try beta 2 if i can figure out how to get the bat and exe going.

Thanks for the update! smile.gif

Just making sure everyone notices the new beta. Here's what I added into the original post:

I seem to be having a bit of a problem getting this to work. When I have my ds set to use the Official USB adapter and the official drivers, DS2Key will run but I can't connect to my computer. If I use the unofficial settings involving a SoftAP, the program freezes at the message "Waiting for ARM7 to init.." during boot-up.

Any ideas why this is happening and how I can fix it?

I would appreciate any help/advice received.

Can I ask what device your using to boot up DS2Key? With my Supercard CF I've gotten that freeze only when first turning on DS2Key, but loading the wrong format. Supercard's require homebrew to use the .ds.gba renamed to .nds...

I am using the Max Media Dock. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the device though because it boots if my ds is set to use the official nintendo adapter, but not when it's set for an access point.

I'd like to work on it, but I don't know perl. I'd be writing it in C#. Even if it's not the official GUI I'm still interested. Could you put something together about the communication between the client/server?

Thanks.

Superb job! thumbsup.gif I haven't had a problem with it on my regular computer using WEP and a Phat DS w/ flashme+GBAMP or DS Lite w/ passcard3+M3CF. I also ran 2 instances on my computer with seperate ports, one acting as mouse, the other as gamepad and worked flawlessly.

One suggestion though, on the PC exe, it would be nice if we could have a minimise to taskbar button or minimise to Taskbar on startup option (cause on my media center computer, it freezes the window if you try to close it with the DS... sad.gif )

I mainly use it for SNES emulation on the media center, or to control the mouse for updates so I don't have ungodly amounts of wires coming out of it. I can't stress how awesome you are. smile.gif

Works great. Even with two DSs. I noticed that the mouse code is completely different, but it moves the mouse according to the position on the touch screen. Is it possible to make the mouse function like a laptop touch pad? There's also lag when using mouse and buttons at the same time.

I figured out why my DS kept disconnecting, it's because I was using DSOrganize to boot DS2key. I've notified the author of DSOrganize about the little bug.

Can't wait for the GUI version, as editing INI files for the control is annoying. But this is only a beta...

Awesome Program. I got it working with my Datel Max Media Dock. In order to get it to work, set your ds's internal clock to 00:00. Yea, its strange, i dont know why it fixes it, but it does. It's what i've had to do with any hombrew that uses wireless. Well goodluck all getting it to work. Hope this helps. Awesome prog by the way.

hmm... how can i control winamp with it? eyebrow.gif

Hi, I think I have a problem with ds2key or I don't know how to configure it.

I'm using max media launcher with m3minisd.
I have inactivated Windows firewall.
I launch ds2key.exe wich says "Awaiting UDP messages on port 9501"
I lauch ds2key.nds, connects to an AP, search for an AP, found my router, accept, connect.
Enter ds2key, accept UDP port, accept profile 0.

And... nothing.
There is a lot of hex code with RTRTs on the upper screen when I press buttons, but there is no reaction on the computer side. ds2key stills awaits UDP messages, and Notepad records no input.

What have I done wrong?

[edit] Ok, simple as that, I did not checked the IP. Thank you Sypherce.

First thing that come to mind is: Did you change the IP on the final screen to your PC's IP?

So I LOVE the idea behind this application, and the one time I got it to work it was fantastic. But the only way I was able to do it was to disable WEP on my router. sad.gif

With WEP enabled, I get the message "ASSOCSTATUS_AUTHENTICATING" on the DS bottom screen after trying to connect and a lot of streaming hex codes on the top screen, but it never makes the connection ("Cannot connect to Access Point). I've tried both using the DS's default Access Point settings (which have no problem with my WEP key) and manual setup, putting the WEP key in myself.

I apologize if this is something that's been covered, but I don't see it in the documentation I've read and don't see a thread about it on the forum. Is there a problem using WEP with DS2Key? Having the settings in there (and theoretically being able to use the DS's built-in access point settings) would seem to imply it can handle WEP, and I just am missing how to do it. (I've double checked the key input both on my DS's settings and in the DS2Key settings; it's the right WEP key.)

Little help? I love the program but don't want to leave my WEP off. It's bad enough that I have to use WEP instead of WPA because Nintendo built an outdated piece of hardware. wink.gif

Thanks in advance.

The latest beta seems to be working pretty well, but I have a problem: For some reason, the input seems to randomly get "stuck" - My character will keep running right no matter what I press, or will continue attacking after I've released the button. I didn't have this problem with v0.4.

Hello, I tried to run ds2key all day long but I can't :/, I have exactly the same problem but the PC's IP is correct (it's the one i get when I run "ipconfig /all" in cmd)

edit ::

In fact it isn't the same problem, actually on the ds side I got answer from my PC in the "last receive" when I try some button. But there is no response in my computer! i'm using the beta 3.

I've had exactly the same problem. I've only been able to access after I turn the WEP on my router to off. Also, it seems that all the keys I've tested out seem to work fine except for "Enter - 10". Either the code of "10" doesn't work as this function or there is some other glitch in the system because I cannot get this key to process regardless of which physical key on the DS that it is bound to. Has anyone else had this issue?

Okay, for the ARM7 Issue, change the DS clock to 00:00, I have a Games n Music, if homebrew doesnt work, change the clock, usually it fixes it.

I tried it, I was getting arm7 waiting, changed the clock, now I am happily using DS2Key!

Try it!

It doesn't work for me... It says connecting until it says that it couldnt connect and to press cancel to continue.

I am a little confused. What is the current (latest) version for DS2Key? I have downloaded 4 different versions but unfortunately the version numbers do not remain consistent. I thought as this was the home site for DS2Key, that the latest version would be here. But I found another version with later dates else where. Of course that is not the ultimate authority in versioning but I thought a question here could not hurt.

Technically the latest DS2Key is the one in SVN, although I've yet to release a binary for this version. The latest released server binary is 0.7 and the latest client, which works with the newer DSLites (at least it should) didn't have it's own special thread, as it was a quick test, but it's here. If you can compile the SVN go ahead and try it, but I'm not helping people compile it, as it's not quite ready for main stream release.
