i was just headbanging to a few boss tracks from legend of mana, and i wanted to know, what boss bgm has made you want to kick the crap out of him/her even more?

here's my list:

--------------

*Legend of mana:
-----------------
`irwin on reflection
`pain the universe
`the darkness nova <--------- head banging track

Super Castlevania iV:
------------
that track that you get while fighting dracula's second form. the one that's the same as the bgm from the first stage, however for some reason it just works so god damn well (atmospherically) while fighting dracula, the fact that it was in the starting stage also gives some psychological drive.

Chrono Trigger:
-------------
Battle with magus. Nuff said.

Chrono Chross
---------------
that track while you're fighting in that tower (yes i know i'm being very vague but i personally can't remember even WHAT i was fighting,)

more as i remember them.

personally the legend of mana one's got to me the most, especially if you played the game, and ESPECIALLY darkness nova. (download the psf or mp3's or even midi to understand why)
Weirdy
that one song from Tenchu that starts playing when you fight that gothic looking dude
iamjack
More then a few people are looking at this and thinking of Sephroth's music. And that doesn't make it any less kick ass.
Sturmvogel
Einhander:

Track called Thermosphere that plays as you rise above the Earth to battle Schwarzgeist

Track called Madness when fighting Ausf D Gestell

Metal Gear Solid 3

Instrumental to Snake Eater when fighting the final battle.
Agozer
Ugh, tough to pick because I have so many albums and favorites...

Zone of the Ender: 2nd Runner
-----------------------------------
Most notably the fights against Leo, Zakat and the final battle against Anubis.

Chaos Legion
---------------
The final battle tune titled 'Massive Strokes'

Final Fantasy VIII
--------------------
Normal boss battle titled 'Force Your Way'
The four songs that accompany the forms of Ultimecia: 'Premonition', 'The Legendary Beast', 'Maybe I'm a Lion' and 'The Extreme'.

Silent Hill 2
-------------
A song called 'Black Fairy' that plays during the final battle.

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
------------------------------
Boss battles that play 'Witch Hunting' and 'Disgaea'.

The fight against Dracula - 'You Goddamn Bathead'.

'Battle with Magus' - Plays during the fight with Magus

Yeah, and Elazul, don't think that I don't know that you left it off of yer list in order to come off as avant-garde. It may be conventional wisdom, but there's nothing on that list of yours that says "climactic motivation" more then One-Winged Angel.

I think that's the fight with Lynx. Main bad guy, but not the last boss. Come to think of it, there's been a lot of games like that.

once i get an iso of innocent sin, i'm going to start working on translating it, and retranslating persona 1 (cause there's like a whole side quest removed in the usa version)

the reason hacking innocent sin should be a little easier for me, is cause i have a copy of EP that has all the debug features, and the text is uncompressed ( i believe, i haven't had the time to confirm that yet). ep and Is are very very very VERY similar, ep uses a modified version of the IS engine.

so yeah, if all goes well, i'm going to use the oracle of maya translation, along with the help of a few translators in the community and translate that game.
Agozer
Good luck with all that, mate.

yeah... i don't want to give anyone any major hope.

i expect the first patch to be around 6 months (at least) after i get and dump the iso.
Nusumenai
Best of luck with that, it's so sad how badly Atlus games do in the US.

Good Christ. Isn't that a hellworthy tresspass?
Elazul Yagami
no, cause i honestly believe anything after ff6 is horribly overrated, the games are great graphics and a decent story.
NOT a great story.
how many better rpg's were overlooked for ff7's "awesome graphics" and "revolutionary gameplay"
yeah... my ass.

besides, chanting the name of the enemy isn't exactly the best thing to make you want to kill him, in fact it's kinda demoraling.

(for the record, i have played teh game, i just never finished it, partially because i didn't own a psx back then and pc version wasn't out, but everyone and their mother was talking about the game so much, they pretty much ruined the storyline for me.)

sons of bitches told me aeris died, told me the concept, told me about jenova, sephiroth, vincent, the side quests, the drag quest, every last detail of the freaking game

I have to disagree about that at least a little. The lyrics glorify (it's a paean, isn't it?) the greatness and the evil aspects of Sephiroth. I don't know about you, but after all the crap Seph has pulled during the game, and then spirits and angels praise him... I wan't to see him destroyed.

I completely agree.

Persona 2, Xenogears, Legend of Mana (I know i'm probably alone here)...

Your ass indeed. Wtf, I thought you never experienced it properly. You can't knock it if you have no sense of context.

Further proof you're out of the loop. Where'd you get your info on that one?

And also for the record, I had that first part spoiled for me too and the game was still the best.
Elazul Yagami
i'm sorry i didn't make something clear.

1-i didn't PLAY the game myself, but i watched my friend playing it for over 30 hours (including the sephiroth battle).
that was after the storyline was already ruined for me.

2- i did experience it properly, going through cd1 of the game and still not thinking it's the best thing ever, means i've experienced it enough to judge it.
or do you hafta play through a whole game you dislike just to prove you dislike it?

3- i saw and watched teh battle with sephiroth, i did NOT like the music.

4- these are MY opinions.
Cominus
The GGX on dc, that chix witht eh ghost, "holy orders".

What? Speak english.

'Holy Orders' is Ky Kiske's theme music, he isn't a girl, and he has no ghosts. Eddie has ghosts, but he wan't in GGX, and he isn't a girl either.

Japanese and thier fag players.
Agozer
I actually made a mistake in my post. I meant Zappa, not Eddie. Eddie (actually, Zato-1) was in GGX, he's blind's and uses a demon called Eddie. In GGXX, Eddie has pretty much taken over Zato's body, so Zato doesn't really exist anymore.

Again, these problems are all symptomatic of ruined context, the element of the "first person" being key. Watching someone play a game is like watching someone read a book. You should kick your friend's ass for wasting this game for you.
Elazul Yagami
dude, the same friend wasted suikoden for me, and yet i played through the game and enjoyed it immensely.

i'm not saying i'm right, i'm not saying i'm wrong, i just believe ff7 was VERY VERY VERY overhyped and it wasn't that great.

plain and simple, even if i hadn't got the story ruined, i didn't really enjoy playing, what i was playing.
it did not give me the same feeling a game like say... chrono trigger game me.
hale emirich
anyone listen to gackt
also to song faust and the battle theme for the mgs3 as well as the entro theme are good
BlackKnight
Gackt is a loser. Any Japanese man who claims to have wrestled a tribal chief in Madagascar to the ground with his bare hands deserves to be shot.
