lil modifications xD
updates on 0.000015a
left dpad to do left click, right dpad to do right click
switched R and L (L now switches screens, and R sends again last string sent)
down dpad sends enter

http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/pointles...te0.000015a.zip

03/02/06
blah, release another version, this time with a good server xD (at least in my pc)
also, i've added zoom control
with x and y you'll change the magnitude (in your ds)
to update it on the server, so it can be used, tap the touch screen in GRAL mode
just try it
i think that now it's a usable program
if you are having problems or smthing, join me at irc, i'll be in here for the night:

irc: irc.3dgames.com.ar channel: #PointyRemote

http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/pointles...te0.000014a.zip (forgot to change the number xD thx Stokes for telling me)

02/02/06:
bored as i am, i've made a better server (still sucks...)

http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/pointles...te0.000013a.zip

01/02/06:
as i am impatient, i've release a new version with 2 tweaks
http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/pointles...te0.000012a.zip

updates on 0.000012a:
-better control "protocol"
-updates on "click" and "area to zoom"
-turn off the lcds when it's closed

blah, still wating for the next release of the libs xD
go sgstair go! (i admire your work)
i hope that you find it more usable than before
luck

23/01/06:
i built a more usable version, hope u all like it
(sintax territorial biatch)

next release on tcp completition
will feature:
-a nice gui (not as nice as dsremote but...)
-compresion
-better speed and the user wont feel the packet loss
-better mouse clicks
-improved keystrokes send
-auto update
-diferent zoom levels (forgot to put this xD)
and the source of this awfull thing

i really dont want to waste my time on a control protocol for udp while sgstair is working on tcp sleep.gif

enjoy it xD

file:
http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/pointles...te0.000011a.zip

updates on 0.000011a:
use of both screens, one for zoom and the other for gral
with R ull switch mode

screens:
http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/pointles....000011a001.jpg
http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/pointles....000011a002.jpg
http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/pointles....000011a003.jpg
http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/pointles....000011a004.jpg
http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/pointles....000011a005.jpg

some other date:

firts thing i programed 4 the ds
next release (when tcp is completed) comes with source code and more functional
i'm also planning to develop a version that can connect to a standar vnc server, but not now

file:
http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/pointless/PointyRemote.zip

readme.txt:

first of all... sory bout my bad english, i'm not a native speaker

blahblahbla and everything u read on a readme
i've use as a base the demo code from sgstair
i'm releasing the bins only cause the code is unreadable, i've learn bout framebuffer and keys while i was programming it
i'll rewrite it and release it in a week or so (or when tcp is finished) xD

This was done by me, Pointless, a@pointless.com.ar

to use it ull need an ap (dooh), and the server running on the host computer
configure your ap as u did on wifi ds test, when you are connected, press the udp test button

and thats it, it'll look awfull, but it works....
press A to use a zoomed view of the screen
press B to se the gral view of the screen

while in zoom mode, u can do clicks with the stylus, and while in gral mode, u can select wich portion of the screen zoom

to send text, press select (\ is return)
if the text is not send, u can repeat the last sent text with LEFT trigger

and thats it
the server SUCKS, ive coded it while i was building the protocol, and the client, so if your computer slows down while using PointyRemote
it's probable that the server is flocking up all

pd: as its based on udp and programed without control on wich packet is received and wich not (exept for the screenshots)
u'll have to be near the ap, to minimze the packet loss
luck with this
enjoy it xD
thedude
crashs on starting the server(server.exe)
Pointless
oops, if someona has downloaded it, redownload, bad.nds xD
Pointless
and reuploaded the exe again, sory, dont know what happened
thedude
Crash on starting the server.exe, again.

I think u did something other wrong...
GameCop
Thanks for posting your new homebrew application here!
We hope you keep us updated on all its releases here on 1Emulation.

We have also posted it on 1Emulation Site News & Updates -> http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16861 // http://www.1emulation.com/
mntorankusu
This sounds ridiculously cool, but the server.exe still crashes when started. sad.gif
Pointless
&*@#^%&^%@#$%&@#$, maibe u need the delphi libs
it would be wierd, its build with everything inside sleep.gif
wait a secc
Pointless
las time i use delphi
redownload, it should be fixed now
thedude
runs, but shall i do in the new window?
Pointless
just minimize it, i used the form 4 testing, when tcp is released i'll make a good config gui
(if it works for someone please let me know)
thedude
yeah! works great! now, u have to put to config your pc by ds smile.gif
Pointless
what do u mean?
mntorankusu
Wow. It seems very slow and buggy, but holy crap, it's awesome.

forget what i said!

Yes its working nearly perfect!

Please add this:
more colors(32bit)
higher transfer rate(or live)
scrolling with the +
See the picture above the keyboard while writing

then it would be really PERFECT!
Pointless
na, not right now, i've programmed it as a test ap, to see what can be done, and to encourage (?) sgstair to finish tcp biggrin.gif

when this happens, i'll make a version that uses both screens, that can be scrolled with the thumb, uses more colors and compresion (now it sends a raw img in a 2-3-3 bit format, per pixel)
and a better server, this version sucks
cybereality
Wow man, it actually works. Granted it is only a test release and you can't really do anything useful yet, but the potential is there. I was able to see a scaled down version of my dual desktop as well as move the mouse around (sort-of). I didn't test it, but I assume you can also input text.

Like said above, you should be able to scroll using the D-pad. Also, it would be nice to have different levels of zoom. Obviously the speed could be better, but as a proof-of-concept, it works.

Also, the server application is rather confusion as none of the options are labeled. I understand english isn't your first language, but it would help for the program to be a little more descriptive. Other than that, its a nice start.
retroK
Sounds really interesting, can somebody post some screenshots?
Warlord698
give me a little bit And I add some screens I just took
Pointless
the server does not have enything to configure or touch, those buttons where at first the button that update the screens (one for zoomed view, and the other one for the gral view) (now u use A and B buttons)
Raziel_DSM
Impressive clapping.gif.
I think the Wifi libs will bring us many cool apps
Warlord698
keep in mind they may be a little blurry

thedude
perhaps, this helps you on developing(iintegrated in PointyRemote:
http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthrea...2#post305993672
Warlord698
but funny enough, I can get this onw to work
jas20
Opps! Sorry, I forgot I need to put a loader on it.

It's working (on my supercard smile.gif ). It now seems to react to 'touch'

Jas2o
Dudu.exe
you can make the fullsceen on the booton screen and the zoomed views onthe top ( with a litthe crosshair on the middle so we now where mouse is pointing )

and of course.. a server that can lat we use it over the internet!!!!

more colors can wait!!!

congratulations!
Pointless
the idea was to have the zoomed view in the touch screen, and the general view in the top screen, but as i cannot use frame buffer on both (only way i know to write to screen) i cannot do it :/
have to read about the mode that let me put jpges or bitmaps, but that would be for the tcp version xD

and havent say it before, but, thanx sgstair xD your lib r0x, please continue with it

Nothing happens when I open server.exe...
chatterbug89
It unfortunately dosen't seem to be workign for me for some reason. I run the server, the box comes up (I do nothing from there on the actual computer), then I go ahead and start up the DS application...runs fine, I connect to my AP, enter the IP address of the computer I am accessing, and all that I see is a green thing at the top and a red line in the middle...i get the touch release and what not ont he top screen..but..nothing is happening on my main computer..and..i'm not seeing anything on my DS that is my desktop...zoom and what not do nothing.

I even went ahead and stuck my main computer in the DMZ zone...diden't help. :S Wish this would work. sad.gif I'm wondering if maybe realvnc could be conflicting with this?

EDIT: by the way...I was able to get win2ds working...just not this..so...i'm not excactly sure what the problem is...since my DS apparently can connect to this computer.

EDIT2: GOT IT TO WORK! YAY! I checked over all my settings more carefully this time before connecting to my AP...this is pretty cool smile.gif

EDIT3: Unfortunately though...it only works for one of my monitors..not both (I have a dual monitor set up). Kind of weird considering someoen else with my same set up said it worked with both monitors for them (or maybe I just imagined that post :S )
analogman
Well... I must say, BRAVO. This came out far quicker then I anticipated. Works awesome. The blue it turns my start button is pretty cool too >__> But anyway, it seems like a revolution for the DS is coming! And all this without TCP o__o

EDIT: WOW, I didn't realize you could click the mouse too. I'm chatting with my friends and openning programs on my computer from my living room, this is the greatest thing I've seen yet.

im typing this with the ds some chars not supported by ds app
Robert
In case you want to compare the 2 apps, here is the link for Win2DS

http://www.digitalatrocity.com/DS/Win2DS.zip

(thanks to that Something Awful post)
Zeep
wow, this is awesome. it's pretty awkward to use, but even so. also it freezes a lot and doesn't support capital letters or punctuation.

but even so, just the novelty of it kicks ass.
Thoop
hello this is a reply from my ds thx 4 the great app

Ok. I'm having a bit of trouble. I'm using a flashcart. A v6 Flashme'd NDS. I can connect to my AP, but it gives me colums of green pixels on the top of the lower screen and a red lines of pixels in the middle of the bottom screen. zooming/ gral-ing doesn't change the picture. What's wrong?

u can use it over inet, u have to put the server external ip on the last step (tho, i dont recomend it cause of udp packet loss)

i will proram a version today that uses both screens, one for zoom, and the other for gral, and with left trigger uŽll swap screens to change the mode (now u do it with the update buttons, A and cool.gif
thedude
i hate, to change always the config of pointyremote, cant u do a version with save feature?
Pointless
would be a nice way to learn how to use the file system xD
PickleHead
It also only shows one monitor for me, maybe the other guy who had it working has his dual monitor setup on SPAN instead of 2 seperate devices?

*anxiously awaiting next release*

Yeah..i'm betting that's it..since...it's not working for me too and I also have two seperate video cards. I only have access to the screen connected to my primary video card. sad.gif
Blight
This is soooooo awesome but it needs autoupdating.
If you could make the screen autoupdate at a reasonable speed that would be awesome.
b.t.w the best interface I can think of:
CODE
Full screen on the bottom screen
zoomed view om the top
if you move the pointer over the bottom screen you update the top screen
by pressing up you switch the screens and you'll be able to click stuff
L - left click
+ right - right click
+ down - reload screen
start - enter
select - enter keystrokes

if you could do that it will be SOO awesome.
and forget about the colors, more speed, less colours!

Same problem here wtih the same setup. It responds to button press etc according to the top screen, but nothing happens. Every other Wifi app I can find (including DS2Key which should use the exact same settings) runs just fine. Oddly I've also noticed that this won't run from flashcart with the Multi-nds loader. It fails with "Waiting for Arm7 init" or something similar on the top screen. Had to use WMB and download play.
Quite annoying as this seems a really cool app.
GrupstraNDS
hey just wanted to say this is working great for a test app keep up the great work.
written via ds.

(lack of some characters and such made the above post seem a little less intelligent then I usually like to sound, but hey!)

Same weird bottom screen here too! Do you have a Supercard CF?

Edit: Pushing A and B a few refreshes the screen, whoops! Seems awfuly slow though, but I'm assuming thats being worked on. smile.gif
