Yeh the WiFi max thing is a 3rd party AP dongle like the nintendo one.
Run your server program, I run your DS program connect to the AP, specify the IP of the AP that is on my computer, and then when i go connect it just has 2 black screens :S

my problem is that when i use the program, i put in all of my settings(which takes a while because the ds screen isn't accurate and i press the number 1 and get like the letter w which can take time to write) then it takes me to 2 black screens. what i can do there is press select to write a messege and then i press ok, but now the black screens have some weird green lines on them and that's it. I hope you can help me....
I have the same problem that you :-(
A great pain, with the awesome that seems this utility.

Hm, it seems a bit slower to update on the Ds now. before I'd get quick updates when i pressed to refresh a screen (within a second or two) now its coming up within 5-10 seconds, or it freezes. The PC side server is slow again, too. My computer is choppy when it runs, the last build was quick.
Looks like theres some work to do.

Nonetheless, keep it up, good to see you trying to fix it up.

It seems to work better, however, I still am having problem getting screen updates quickly. Mostly, the zoomed view. the fullscreen view updates when something changes on teh screen, like a window open or conversation reply, but I cant get the zoomed view to move to that quickly or at all really anymore.
Hmmm.. The server isnt bogging me down as much on the PC anymore, but still a bit sludgy. I'll continue to test it out.
update, I can't get any response as far as touch screen goes. when zoomed in, I cant click on anything, and when zoomed out, it doesnt seem to react to where I point to zoom in, which leads me to beleive somthing is up with the touchscreen stuff.
GrupstraNDS
Feb 3 2006, 02:49 AM
okay, so, I finally got a zoom update, but it was very slow (I'm talking, several minutes. the clicks I did also registered....minutes later)...so, theres a slow down problem with the response rate with clicking and zooming. but the zoomed out view updates very quickly for me.
Pointless
Feb 3 2006, 03:02 AM
try this,
if you press X button, the update rate will increase, with the Y button, it will decrease
as the server.exe is so badly programed, if u use a high update, i'll freeze your pc, causing things not to respond,
try tapping a few times (fast taps, as this works while hold the buttons) on Y, so it will not freeze the server

To everyone: copy the link location to your URL and replace 13 with 14. The link he offered is screwed up.
Anyway, server.exe is crashing, and I have no idea why. Says something about kernl32.exe or something not agreeing with it.
EDIT: Nevermind, link fixed.

Feb 6 2006, 08:32 PM
Well this release is waaay better. Colors are fixed, its fast enough to be usable-- I really prefer the stylus clicking to WinDS trigger clicking. There's a few changes Pointless could probably make in 5 minutes:
switch screen toggle trigger to left trigger so you can hold the ds with your left hand and hold stylus with your right
hold left on d-pad while clicking for right clicks
right on d-pad = 'enter' on keyboard, 'cause right now its really hard to double click icons
Great job pointless! You've pulled far ahead in the VNC wars. So I see Win2DS Sticky-- why no pointyRemote sticky?

Feb 6 2006, 11:49 PM
Just tried it out. much faster then the last release. Looks real nice, and refreshes smoothly. The server no longer eats my CPU, either.
The suggestions Digicide posted above are good ones, I would consider implementing some.
Keep up the good work.

Hi Pointless, great app you've got going here. I was using Win2DS or DS2Win (whichever its called) but since .14 of pointRemote I have switched as it is much better!
GrupstraNDS, you say the server executable no longer uses so much CPU time and seeing as this was the only downside of pointyremote in my eyes, I was very excited to try this. Unfortunately, I have found that the CPU is still spanked just as heavily by server.exe as it always was. I know that the CPU cycles must be there for a reason but are there any future plans to optimise code to reduce this? Please don't see this as a moan or whine, I'm just curious about the future development of pR.
Congrats on the best piece of homebrew I have had the pleasure to use, ever!

uhm, should work with no problemas :/
i've tested it with an xp1700 and with a a64 3200 @2500 and it worked with no problems
i'll search for a pentium to test pointyremote on
idbirch
Feb 7 2006, 09:48 PM
It does work OK, in fact it works great. I just thought that the high CPU usage (about 40% of my 3GHz P4) was dis-proportionate to the amount of work the app does (I could be wrong there though, I'm no programmer!)
If server.exe is running my CPU will have a constant load of 30-50% and WinXP becomes quite sluggish and jerky. This is not a huge problem as I can close server.exe when I'm in front of the machine, I just wondered if you were aware of this and whether there's any way to reduce CPU load without forfeiting performance.
Cheers.

Feb 8 2006, 03:14 AM
it's not normal :/ when i use it i get 2% of cpu use (running all the things that usually run on my pc)
i get a maximun of 10 (dont know if it's cause of the server or other things)
and in the xp 1700 i get a 7% use and peaks of 14
a pentium with that clock should not have too much problems running the server
the onlyu thing the server does is sending a cache of the procesed image on udp port :/
i'll search why this is happening
any other pentium user with the same problems?

Having a little difficulty in making this work - I load the server program and run the.nds file. I'm able to connect to my ap, then it asks for an ip to use, then takes me to a black screen. Pressing select will prompt me to send text. This happens whether or not I have the server app running. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Hi,
I need some help on getting this program to work. First I would like to know what i need to make it work. I have: a)Nintendo DS b)WiFi enabled game c)A wireless router. Im really confused about the readme, "configure your ap as u did on wifi ds test, when you are connected, press the udp test button". Could someone explain how to setup the whole thing step-by-step?
Thank you for any help you can give me.
