Sweetness. I like the little riddle that needed to be solved to access the page

Definatly exciting stuff on the horizion. Poo to me for not having a compatible card and not being a tester.

ah well. Hopefully Nintendo's official USB adapter will be compatible (being of the RA chipset kind)?
Anyways, looking forward to reading about it more. Good luck.

Ive been watching dswifi for some time now and I originally found out about it while searching through homebrew sites to see if anyone had created a tunneling interface yet.
So first, congratulations on the first milestone in the bounty (and best of luck with the other 2).
Second, thank you very much for all the hard work on the wifi project.
Third, thank you again for tackling a tunneling interface. Personally Id rather you worked on it over anyone else, much akin to first party software for a console... you know it best and you can make it function best.
So thanks for all the hard work, there are a lot of us out here that really appreciate it

There was an update today, and I have a question: Will it be a program on the computer where the DS thinks that the computer is another DS, then the computer tunnels the code to other DSs (a la Wifi Me) so people without flash cards can still use this?

WOW those numbers went up fast! I was wondering what the internet WMB server would let us do. I know the internet pictochat is for doing pictochat online but what will the WMB server do.
Will it be like this?
Click here to download my demo! (look at the url)
and it will stream the nds demo off the site? or do you have something else in mind?
sgstair
Nov 11 2005, 05:45 AM
A few notes...
It'll be a PC app that creates "virtual" DSes locally so that your DS can see them. it won't actually require anything special from your DS.
the internet WMB server will be a DSTunnel master you can connect to that will let you download demos like WMB does, but over the internet.... it's mainly for fun but could be useful (and could probably be used for streaming like alexa said)
I'm planning on making the internet pictochat server as an app where people can connect and run pictochat, and it'll post the images on a website somewhere

No this won't because we currently can't sign our homebrew, so it could only be a problem with FlashMe but then you are able to reflash it.
You don't need to be so scared, there's a lot of crapware for your computer and you still go online.

What is this homebrew signing?
MS3FGX
Nov 13 2005, 05:29 AM
The DS Download Play only runs software that has the RSA signature on it, to prevent running unauthorized software.
The only way around this so far is to reflash the DS with FlashMe (a replacement firmware) that disables the RSA signature check and will run any binary sent to the DS.
In the end though, most people would rather have the ability to get the RSA signature on homebrew binaries, and be able to run them on the stock firmware. Hence the quest to create RSA signed homebrew.
Anyway, I don't think this has been mentioned anywhere, but is there any word on what platform this software is running on/will be developed for?
I know it is using the RTL2500 card, as the WMB server does, so I am going to assume then that is is also using the driver for WMB, which means Windows.
So then to continue this line of logic, this software would have the same platform limitations as the WMB server, in that it can only be ported to a different platform once a compatible driver has been written for that platform?
sgstair
Nov 13 2005, 07:26 AM
At present the app is limited to the rtl2500 chipset based cards, specificly the ones that firefly's driver works with. The code for the tunnel app itself is designed to be mostly portable though, so only minimal effort will be required to port it to a new system if a driver exists.
As such, yes, the driver is going to be the limiting factor for linux... but depending on how much free time I have, I may attempt to do the driver thing in linux as well.

Hi, I've been following Sgstair's work on DSWifi for a while now, and now that you are nearly finished, I am very excited to see this tunneling app coming. I'm new to this homebrew thing, so I have a few questions about it. I hope I don't sound too stupid.

First, will this work with download play on the DS for games such as Super Mario 64 DS? I kinda doubt it, but anything is possible I suppose.
Second, in games such as Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, there seems to be a limited amount of rooms available for wireless play. How will the application make more rooms for people once the maximum number of rooms has been hit?
Finally, will the application have a friends list or something of the sort? It is nice to have those options, but certainly not an absolute essential.
I also want to congratulate Sgstair on earning half the WiFi Bounty. Judging by your progress page, you earned every penny. Take the rest of it, man.
I apologize if these are obvious questions for some people, but, as I said, I'm new with this stuff. I truly cannot wait for this to be done, and I look forward to playing all of you in First Hunt and Goldeneye.

I don't realy understand your question, but I guess a downloaded game can be tunneled, but than you should actually tunnel the host DS and the other DS's over the internet need to download the game too.

Currently I'm pretty sure rooms aren't implemented yet, but eventually the program will have the functionality Teamxlink.co.uk's kai has. So you can create your own room and play with gamers.

Eventually this will be implemented I guess, depending how Sgstair is going to release the tunnel project. If it will be released as application, he should implement these thing. But if he releases it as library or something, then other can implement things like this. Actually, I hope he will let others participate in the development of the interface, so development will go faster and Sgstair has time to work on other projects

Hello
I've been around for a while, but haven't bothered posting. So first I would like to say, good job on getting the first half of the WiFi bounty, and good luck on getting the rest.
I don't have a GBA ROM cart, so I would benefit mutch more from DS tunneling, but I plan on getting a ROM card when I save up the money. So I've been watching for an update. I hope I don't sound too impatient, but what's happening? are you close, any major problems, almost finished, a few weeks yet? Inquiring minds would like to know.

I have an idea:
If he got the UDP-Ip stack working,
he could apply for the second part of the bounty, get the money and release the source code of what he has done up to now, so that other people could start working on the project as well, possibly completing it.
That would be the idea of having OS development: more people working on a project.
Otherwise, if he decides to drop the project, he may as well tell, so that other people gets interested into developing: if he is going to complete, it does not make sense to start competing.
If he is not, then things are different.
Of course, don't get me wrong: I really appreciate what he has being doing up to now, and I think he deserves getting the whole bounty.
He can do what he likes, bus asking is not wrong nor shows any "disrespect" or "ingratitude" or else.

As I see it, he's mainly working on his DS Tunnelling project, and if you read his site, he'll update again when there is something to update about. There's no sense in bugging him asking him for status of the projects or updates, as it takes him away from his work.

1.) This is obvious, if you've read this forum and seen the posts about his new project (DS Tunnelling).a
2.) What's the point in updating if there is nothing to update about? If he has something important that he wants people to know, he'd update. Updating with useless information just wastes his time.
3.) Regardless of the time it takes, it still is not needed.

Doing some looking around sgstair last signed in two days ago and so must be alive and wel. Hopefully when his beta testers are done he will hand it to the homebrew and other poele (me cause I can get some wicked servers for free with unlimited bandwidth) that way we can finish up the project leaving it a bit like the MSN gaming zone.
