Full Version: Most used N64 Emulator?
1Emulation.Com > Nintendo > Nintendo 64
Murkal
Offering the 3 (in my opinion) most commonly used N64 emulators seems appropriate, but this doesn't mean to exclude Daedulus, Nemu, True Reality, or any of the others. Let's hear your feedback! thumbsup.gif

I only have one N64 game and I use 1964 to play it. If I think about it, I have put more man hours into UltraHLE than any of the other N64 emulator since I was really into it back in the day. Glide rules!
Agozer
Damn man, Glide was the shizzz, my Voodoo loved it. smile.gif UltraHLE was severely crippled on the long run, but thank god SupraHLE fixed a few things.

I use Project64 now almost exclusively.

I use Project 64. I've used the others, but I'm more comfortable with Project 64.

I use both 1964 and Project64. I prefer 1964 slightly, it seems to runs games a little better for me, though some games do seem better in Pj64.
sf2_ryu
well i have a mac so of course the one i use isn't one there but the one i use is called Force64
and yeah there also something called mugen or something like that.

Definately Project64. I think it's the most compatible N64 emulator available, and it recently got updated.

on my old pentium II 233mhz I use ultraHLE because it runs really fast via the 12mb voodoo II card.

On my newer machine I use 1964 and it runs goldeneye brilliantly. biggrin.gif

You might want to switch from UltraHLE to SupraHLE. Much more stable and loads of fixes... plays more games too.

i think a lot of people find that pj64 is in fact, the only N64 emu that works for them. Those not working with a big brand card.
Agozer
Project64 has the highest compatibility out of all the N64 emulators out there, although 1964 is still better in some games.
Dib
I really liked 1964 for quite some time. It was easier to set up, which is good for anybody just starting out with an emulator. It also stores it's configuration in a.ini instead of the registry, allowing me to reinstall Windows or change around my emulation directory structure and not have to reconfigure every thing. And on a slower machine like the 700 mhz I was using, it ran better than pj64 ever did.

But it's incompatibility with Ogre Battle 64 was what caused me to switch once pj64 was updated to 1.6. They expect you to revert to a previous version of 1964 just to run it, and that's unacceptable.

So I'd rather deal with all of pj64's bullshit (missing.dll files unincluded with the distribtuion, Windows installer, registry stored settings, etc.) than have to switch around between multiple emulators just to run all my games.

i use project 64, and if something on there doesnt work right (really rarely) ill use 1964.
