The xors were released today I think..now all those people who had the unworking rom can play it on the latest Kawaks release.

Xor's for Progear (US 010117) were released yesterday.

Xor's for Progear no Arashi (Jap 010117) + code + z80 were already released indeed.

Missing roms 're samples & Gfx. Btw, D-BIOS said to klk the roms 'll be released soon.

The roms have some encrypted instructions. The original
game's CPU decrypted them on the fly. The emulator
cannot do that yet, so some kind person has created
a XOR "rom" to do the conversion of encrypted to clear
codes.

on filemirrors.com i searched for "progear" and found progear-simms.zip its the correct sets and it included this.txt msg --->

"Here are the Progear SIMMs I decided to dumped myself after the total farce Haze / Guru and

Unfortunately its in 2 parts and i can only get the 2nd part...it has 1\2 of the correct progear roms

I'm relying on good old emule. There are 2 files there now, one with 15 0% guys on it, and another one....yup, progear.zip.

It's a side scrolling shooter that has a cool mix of Victorian age and modern/futuristic stuff. Here are some pics.

I am not a big tyme side scrolling shooter fan but this looks pretty nice. I may give it a shot when it comes to fbaxxx.

This is indeed one of the best shooters on the CPS-2 along with Mars Matrix and Dimahoo. So much fun and it looks good.

It's REALLY HARD, but that's how a game is supposed to be right

yeah what is a side scrolling shooter unless it is super hard? arcade shooters have to be ultra hard, it's one of the rules.

This is great stuff. Third best side-scroller i have ever played, after R-Type III and Final.

I still prefer Giga Wing's overall gameplay/strategy to either Progear or Mars Matrix... or i just think the character designs in progear are weaker than the super-stylized Giga Wing fighters.

It's still splitting hairs - i love all three of these games.

I have the 13MB progear.zip off emule now, but the thing is.... eh....
how do you play this!!!
ok.... I figured out that well, Rivet is cute and much more useful if you hold the shoot button down. There's stones that, well, some come to you and some don't, so you have to go pick up the stones. And..... if you use your bomb it will somehow negate all the bullets and somehow add to your stone counter, or is it point counter now?
So far I found it ok, but not as fun as Gigawing. Sad thing is, I looked at screenshots of this game, and really wanted it, but when I got it, I don't know how to play it.
It's hard, though, that's for sure.
And there was some guy here who had a pic of Rivet for his avatar.... I thought it was from Metal Slug 3 at first.

Well, surely there's a How to Play Screen. Did you pay attention to that? It's a friggin' horizontal shooter for chrissakes, understanding the play mechanics can't be so hard.

Hehe I skip those screens but Progear wasnt too hard to figure out...

Now Mars Matrix that had me confused for a while until i actually watched the damn tutorial thingy.

if you don't insert any coins, eventually what will happen is that you get to see the computer kicking ass. a little ass. Not much. You just don't get shown how it does that.
oh well, I'll just play it without bothering about the points counter.
EDIT: I got it (ow who attacked me)
1. Shooting
In Progear, after you kill some enemies, they drop some stones. If you're just holding the shoot button down, they won't come to you. If you switch back to just pressing the shoot button, though, you're like a magnet for these stones. That's how you get points, through those stones. I think.
2. Bombs
Converts all the enemies' bullets into... uh...... something that gives you points. Don't think it hurts the opponent. When you have 4 bombs, that bomb meter up there looks a little strange with people and a flag around it, but oh well. Nothing new.
