ADMINISTRATORS & MODERATORS

All of the moderators on our discussion boards are volunteers. They provide their time and their good judgment to this website free of charge, and the administrators of this website are grateful for their help.

If you have any questions about the rules, please contact the website administrators by sending an email to gamecop@1emulation.tk

Occasionally, the administrators of this website will make decisions that are not popular. That is life. We have given up trying to make everyone happy, because it is simply not possible. If a person claims they were treated unfairly, please keep in mind that there are two sides to everything.

Should you have any problems or concerns about anything on the forum, please be sure to contact that forums moderator(s) FIRST before contacting any other levels of management on the forum, as your request will just go back to that Moderator. If you have already contacted the forums moderator and are unhappy or feel that you request was unjustly treated, then you may contact the next level of forum management the Assistant Forum Manager or the Forum Manager.

Furthermore the administrators of this website/forum are very busy people. Feel free to contact us about any issue, either by email, PM system or by posting in the Comments and Suggestions forum. But please bear in mind that if you have already gone through all levels of management on the forum and feel that you can come directly to the administrator to by-pass the other decisions of the moderators and managers, we are most likely already aware of the request/situation and of the decision made.

VIEWING OR POSTING TO OUR MESSAGE BOARDS CONSTITUTES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESE USAGE TERMS.

Rules, Guidelines and FAQ's

FAQ's

Registering

Registration is required if you plan to post new topics or reply to existing topics. Registration is free, and you are not required to post your real name.

Using BB Code

You may use BB Code in your posts. BB Code is similar to HTML, but offers just a few basic functions, such as hyper linking, image display, bolding and italicizing.

Changing Your Profile

You may easily change any info stored in your registration profile, using the "My Controls" link located near the top of each page. You must be logged in in order to update your profile.

Editing Your Posts

You may edit your own posts at any time. Look for the edit icon on the post to be edited. No one else can edit your post, except for the forum moderator(s) or the message board administrators. The poster that started a thread may also edit their thread title, by editing the first post in the thread.

Adding Signatures

You may use a signature (commonly used in email messages) on your posts. You may set your signature in your member profile. Once you have a signature stored, you can choose to include it with any post you make by checking the "include signature" box when you create your post. Please note the following rules on posting Signatures:

Your Signature

1. Must not contain any Spoilers or Bashing of any kind.

2. May contain images, however the maximum image size is 500x150.

3. Any one signature can not have more then 1 banner and 4 tags (blinkies)

4. Signatures may include text as well, but should be
limited to no more then the height of the banner.

Note: The general rule here is that we wish not to have the board cluttered with excessive images in signatures. Follow these rules and there should be no problem, however, if any member does not follow this rule your signature will be edited by one of the forum Admins.

Searching For Specific Posts

You may search for specific posts based on a word or words found in the posts, by a particular registered member, by date, and/or by forum. Just click on the "search" link at the top of most pages.

Private Messages

A private message is not email. Private messages are one-to-one communications that can only be read by the recipient. You can read private messages in your profile section. You can also elect to be notified by email whenever someone sends you a private message (you can set this in your profile). You can also prevent anyone from sending you a private message (also configurable in your profile). Only registered members may send private messages. To send someone a private message, look for the private message icon on a post a person creates or go to the private message section of your profile and enter the login or posting name of the person you want to send a private message to.

Ignore Lists

Ignore lists apply to private messages only. When a member is on your ignore list, that person cannot send you a private message. You can put someone on your ignore list by viewing the member's profile and clicking on the "add to ignore list" link or typing in their login/posting name in the ignore list section of the PM page. Forum leaders will not be ignored even if they are on your list.

Buddy Lists

Buddy lists apply to private messages only. Anyone you add to your buddy list is stored in handy location, so that you can easily send the person a private message. You can put someone on your ignore list by viewing the member's profile and clicking on the "add to ignore list" link.

Censoring Posts

The message board administrators have the power to censor certain words that may be posted. This censoring is not an exact science, however, so certain words may be censored out of context. Please realize that the censoring, if any censoring is being performed, it is being done by a computer based on the words that are being screened. Words that are censored are replaced with asterisks.

Email Notification

If you create a new topic, you have the option of receiving an email notification every time someone posts a reply to your topic. Just check the email notification box when creating a new topic, if you want to use this feature. Only registered members can use this feature.

What is an avatar, and how can I get one?

Avatars are the images under some members names in their threads. Avatars can be chosen in the edit avatar settings in the User CP.

1Emulation's members have a limit of 20kbs when uploading their avatars.

RULES AND GUIDELINES

Obscenity

Posters are prohibited from posting obscene language or images on the boards. Links to websites that contain pornography of any kind will also be removed.

Attacks on Posters

Vicious attacks on posters will not be tolerated. Disagreements between posters are fine, but personal attacks on posters' intelligence, character, etc. are not. Any personal disputes between posters should be taken to Private Messages. If you are attacked by another poster, PM a moderator, and let him/her handle the problem.

Racial/Ethnic/Religious Slurs

- Do not post anything that is racially, ethnically or religiously derogatory or offensive. This includes but is not limited to the following:

- Use of racial slurs either in general or directed at another member.

- Use of derogatory names/terms describing ethnic/religious groups.

- Posting of imagery that can be considered offensive or derogatory towards a specific ethnic/racial/religious group

No Solicitations

Posters are strictly forbidden from using 1Emulation's boards to advertise or sell any products or services. "Trading" tapes, magazines, etc. is fine; selling them is not.

Libelous Posts

Criticism of the actors' work, the characters, the shows, etc. (even strong criticism) is fine. However, posters are prohibited from posting messages which violate the law. These types of posts include: threats against actors, writers, producers, posters, and the 1Emulation staff. All posts of this nature are subject to editing/deletion.

Character vs Character & Anti-Character Threads

Character vs Character & Anti-Character threads are NO longer allowed on 1Emulation. We understand you are entitled to dislike a character, but posting threads exclusively to bash a character is not allowed by 1Emulation. 1Emulation Boards are known for having a peaceful and fun board environment, so hard to find around these days, which is why we would like to keep it that way.

Excessive posts that are pointless and do not contribute to the thread topic:

Excessive/pointless posts are defined by 1Emulation as the following:

- Posts which contain no relevant contribution to the thread, topic, or site.

- Posting responses to a thread for the sole purpose of boosting post count.

- Posting derogatory and/or 1-word answers to a topic.

- Posts/Threads that are meaningless and lack the ability to elicit thought-provocative responses.

- Posting a short/simple response which shows you replied to the title and not the topic.

Forum Spamming:

Do not spam 1Emulation forums. Spamming is defined by 1Emulation as the following:

- Posting of links/ads/images in multiple forums for the purpose of promoting or selling products/services/websites not associated with 1Emulation or its owners.

- Posting nonsense responses to every thread in a forum in a rapid fashion.

Linking to Other Sites

Do not link to competing message boards or sites; this gives free advertising to competitor sites and hurts 1Emulation and their network sites. You are, however, permitted to use your signature line to link to your personal website. You also may not post messages that are off-topic and sole purpose is to advertise or direct people to another website. You may mention other network related website of course, but not for the purpose of promoting it and sending 1Emulation members over to post on that sites Message board. Please contact your moderator if you have any questions about this distinction.

Post in the Appropriate Forum

Discussions about actors, television shows, etc. belong on their corresponding board. Off-topic discussion belongs on the Off-Topic board. All spoilers and spoiler speculation belong in the Spoilers Forum, and spoilers posted elsewhere are prohibited and will be deleted. Please try to keep your posts on topic.

TOP 10 Post Violations

These are the top ten examples of specific violations:

10.Your post does not contain any discussion of the topic, but only a one or two line post to bump the topic post count or your own personal post count.

9. You created a thread on a topic that was already ongoing, so your new thread and all posts within were deleted or closed.

8. Your post was not on the topic of the thread that you posted it in, so it was deleted or moved.

7. You're post was antagonistic and designed to inflame the members rather than contribute to constructive debate.

6. Your post was a personal message to one other member, which is best put in a private email to that member OR on the Lounge Forum. Such as: "Good Morning Jane, nice to see you here today." or "Hi Bob, long time no see."

5. You made the same post in multiple areas on the forum only to FLOOD the forum and/or bump post counts.

4. Your post contained copyrighted material. This is against the law. It could be deleted. We prefer linking to the material along with some related comments.

3. Your post shamelessly self-promoted your website, and/or commercial venture, or the website that was linked did not contribute to the conversation.

2. Your post crossed the line of constructive criticism and civilized behavior or degenerated into excessive negativity towards the operators of this website, members of the forum, actors, actress, or any other living or dead being. We welcome all opinions but only if it is civilized. It would be considered extreme bad taste to come to our place and post rude and derogatory messages about any one.

1. You personally attacked a member, rather than staying on the issue.

Should your post be deleted, please consider these examples in determining why your post may have been deleted and don't assume your post was deleted because we disagreed with your point of view or have any particular agenda. For those that have had numerous infractions like the ones above, you could be considered a defiant poster and could therefore be subject to disciplinary actions from the administrators of the forum.

If you need further explanation why a particular post or thread was deleted, send an email with all the particulars in order for us to be able to determine the reason. While we try to be as objective as possible we do have to make close calls that you may not always agree with, but we have the right to make that call. We have always tried to maintain a friendly, civilized, and informative environment for our visitors by enforcing the above rules. It is not an easy job but it's worth the effort.

NO Bashing of Other Sites/Boards

We know that some of our posters might come from other competitive sites/forums, and for dissatisfaction towards this site/boards, and the way they are handled, some have decided to leave. Trust us, we understand your position and frustration, but from now on NO bashing of other sites/boards will be allowed on 1Emulation forums. We have always known to provide ALL Emulation fans regardless of your character, shipper couple, actor or other preference. The main policy here is to respect others likings and have a peaceful atmosphere in our boards.

1Emulation prides its self in providing an environment where though it might have been posting on another site, we do not want to see or hear bashing or derogatory remarks (we would love to be able to provide you an example of this sort of posts, but because of the this rule, we must stand by it.) that just feeds into the hatred of the person that initially posted it.

Sanctions:

Violations of these rules will result in a warning for the first offence, second, loss of posts to be determined by a 1Emulation Moderator or Admin, and after that you are suspended for 3 days and then 2 weeks, if the problem continues.
